  1. This is like watching first round of the NFL draft when your team is picking 18th and they are somewhere in the teens, and the teams ahead of you are slowly depleting the draft board until you end up reaching for someone. That's the vibe I'm getting from this
  2. We're going to be disappointed, aren't we?

Oh yeah.  I'm expecting to be.  I mean it's Nebraska football.  We're known for blowing head coaching hires.

It’s Rhule.  Not that he has to be everyone’s first choice but if he’s not seen as a very good get, you’re probably not being realistic.

  3. I used to get excited about them. Then Bill Callahan and Mike Riley happened. The one thing that amuses me is when these forums start checking flight log three times a day.
  4. This might end up being Mickey's job by default. I'm beginning to convince myself nobody else wants it. Either that or there's a real out of left-field guy coming, which I dread, cause that is what Callahan and Riley were at the time.
  5. Someone who will emphasize the offensive line as the issue most in need, and who can recruit the players needed to address it. I'm less concerned about scheme and style right now than I am about that one thing. No scheme will work without blocking.
  6. It's where Nebraska has truly lost its way, more than anything, and I don't feel like any coach we've had in the last 10 years understands this.
  7. That JaguarGator guy on Youtube makes some interesting videos about football controversies. I should suggest the Orange Bowl rematch as a possible subject for one.
  8. Football only exists to torture me.

  9. This might be the single worst football season of my life. The Packers and Huskers have never been this outright terrible at the same time. This is brutal, man.

  10. I'm also annoyed that a #5 ranked team can ascend to #1 based on a razor-thin margin of victory on it's home field. But you know, I'm not bitter or anything. Ever since the playoff was established, I think about those 80s teams all the time and how they might have fared. In 1983, Miami isn't even in it.
  11. There are times in retrospect I wish they did, especially when I see Miami listed as the 1983 National Champion. I still resent the hell out of the fact that we had to play a road game. But I'm glad they did go for 2; in that era without overtime it made more sense, and the decision is what most people remember about the game. I think my bigger issue is with the play call rather than the decision. When you rush for 500 yards a game, don't put your whole season on a pass play. For one, Miami said later that they scouted it. I watched one of the other games from that year on Youtube recently (Kansas maybe?) and Nebraska went for a 2 point PAT at one point and ran the exact same play as the failed 2 pointer in the Orange Bowl - successful in this case, but from that point on, it was on film.
  12. I haven't seen the game. I officially don't care anymore.
  13. There are people that like Whipple's play calling?
  14. We have an amazing ability to go away from things that work so we can force things that don't.
  15. Yeah, it was pretty much inevitable CT would get hurt at some point with that protection. Which of course makes it all the more frustrating that the backups don't look game ready.
  16. I think I'm more disappointed in Whipple than anything else.
  17. You cannot win at any level when you turn the ball over that many times, backup QB or not. Of course, I don't think that's really new information to anybody.
  18. Can we beat Wisconsin in anything? Yeesh.

I'm kinda impressed by the bowling, actually. Milwaukee was like the #1 bowling capital for a long time.

  19. Mickey Joseph is showing a knack for being able to draw blood from a stone.
  20. The defense took a dump and then ran out of gas.
  21. So, a two hand shove is roughing the passer now? Surely you jest.
