  1. First time coaching girls...as of right now...they complain SOOOO MUCH LESS than guys.  Oh my god, it is night and day.

      I have coached girls and boys basketball for the last 18 years and I would agree that girls are much easier to coach than boys. The main reason is that girls, for the most part, still listen to you. Boys all think they have the game figured out and don't think you know what you are talking about. I always go in to the girls season the same way every year, I tell them flat out that I don't care about their drama and I won't listen to it. I'm up front with my expectations and it usually helps.

      I'm back coaching guys this year and I am very happy.  The moody crap is gone.  The guys play hard all the time, it can be very hard to get girls to go hard.

       

      The best part is not being the head coach anymore.  That s#!t was a lot at a big school.  I like the assistant thing, just too busy at home to be "the guy" now.

      In the Deed, I agree that it does help not being the head coach. I was a head coach for 14 years and now I'm an assistant coach and it's amazing how little stress there is. I also have way too much going on at home, which is why I stepped down last year. I can't predict the future, but I might not ever be a head coach again.
