@BigRedBuster, I think teachers are a little different.  Before I taught, I was the same as you, anxious to see some other faces.  But as a teacher, getting together for drinks is a blast.  The filters come off and we are no longer wearing kiddie glove and can really have a productive staff meeting 

The firm I worked for in my mid-20s had a few other people in the same age group as me in my mid-20. Happy Hours were regular, and a lot of fun. A few years later, tied down with kids' and busy family schedules, those sorts of events don't happen. Most social events now are late nights at a friend's house (no more bars, we outgrew that scene), after kids are put to bed of course, or weekend family barbecues. Happy Hours are but a memory of yesteryear.

I feel like Happy Hour is a cycle...when you first start your career...and when you are close to being done with it.
