  1. Uh, er it's the Huskers vs Virginia Tech.....Tough situation Bud! My kids are too young for sports, but I've coached Pop Warner a couple years back and know what it's like to DVR the game instead of watching. Here's the deal, you'll end up calling someone during the game to get updates 'cuz you can't stand not knowing (at least that's the way it ended up with me). GBR!!!
  2. No offense and hope no one takes this the wrong way, but most Nebraska fans are white and do not relate to rap music. Most rap/hip-hop songs are about inner city issues or morals, which we don't care for nor about. Country is my favorite genre of music, but no way would I want a country song as the theme for the Tunnel Walk. Hard rock is definitely the way to go.
  3. I'll pick up the pink panties to match! For the love of god people, it's a game against a 1-1 team! The doubt obviously comes from losing all the big ones in the last several years, but it's not like we're playing the #1 team in the nation. ESPN folk actually have us winning the game, yet many of you are still standing on the fence. Have faith and go with the Big Red 'cuz win or lose they are still the Best Show on Earth (or at least in Nebraska). GBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Just got back from the casino and laid some serious wood on Nebraska!!! They'll roll and cover three weeks in a row BABY!!!!
  5. Ahhh yes....Practice is over and THE first game of the season has arrived. If you aint ready and pumped for this game, than you aren't a true Husker Fan. Not much than 12 hours away from kick-off and I'll be like a kid waitin for Christmas Day. GBR!!!!!
  6. That's bad!! I was gonna send that to a Hokie fan/co-worker in Virginia, but decided against it! GBR!!!
  7. Then you just answered your question then. At the end of the season, it won't matter just what VT did, but also what NU did and the future opponents did. You won't sit at the end of the season with NU being 10-2 and not say they turned a corner I don't think. Damn straight - Who gives two $h**s about what VT does down the road, this would be a good win and a great step toward moving NEBRASKA forward. VT is ranked #13 for one reason or another, have a great home record ,and you've gotta take what's given to you now.
  8. Much like everyone else on this board, I have my reservations about getting too high for a big game with lots of expectations, only to hit rock bottom when they are thoroughly outplayed AND or get beat in the last seconds (See TX Tech '08). I'm sick of hearing about how long it's been since we went on the road, because it's gotta and will end sometime...Saturday is that "Sometime"! Nebraska breaks through and shocks a whole lotta people on Saturday.... NU 28 VT 17 GBR!!!
  9. Agreed that this is complete Horse Sh** for fans on the West Coast!!!! I was surprised to say the least that ESPN 2 (if I'm reading it correctly) will be showing national coverage of the Arizona/Iowa game. Last time I checked, Nebraska vs VT is the ONLY game this Saturday involving two RANKED teams. Looks like I'll be getting Gameplan in case we get screwed for coverage down the road!
  10. Jitters, anxiety, excitement, etc. etc. this is a game we need big time!!! Win or Lose, I see lot's 'O beverage being consumed, but the hangover on Sunday will hurt less a "W" in the books!
  11. After that Bowling Green game, you'd best be concerned with your own house first. Typical 'big game' hangover. Hung up a big win on the Illini. Play a 2nd tier school and there is bound to be a letdown. Big game for the young Tigers. This was a character builder. So the "Big Game" for Mizzu..err Missoo was Illinois? Pretty pathetic especially when their other non-conference big game is here in Reno against a weak pack team. To answer the original question, I cheer for no one but the Huskers and there is no doubt in my mind that I'll be at the game rooting for NV vs Mizue, because at least they live in reality and know that they aren't good and haven't beaten anyone worth talking about.
  12. It's just another game like all others...the next one. But it will be F'n nice once that monkey is off our back!
  13. Lots of "coach speak" but the excitement is definitely building for the game. Is it time for the Huskers to go into a top 20 team's house and knock them off.... I think yes: NU 24 VT 17 GBR!!!
  14. It is not that simple. The VT DL is simply better than is the NU offensive line and thus VT will stop our run cold and make is one dimensional. They have more horses -- in the trenches --- than us. Our LB'ers are raw, inexperienced and will be handled easily by the Ol of VT if they hit the second sphere (if our DL can occupy the VT OL and keep them off the LB'ers that would help a great deal). But there is no doubt that VT has better athletes than NU. It is not just "who wants it more" --- it is NU on the road against a more talented team. -1 completely disagree. they may have a slight edge against our oline but it is very slight and our dline is worlds ahead of their oline....they have given up 8 sacks in two games this season. all of our skill players on offense are better than theirs and on d our dline is better than theirs. we win by 2 tds....
  15. Let's revisit the stats after next week w/ Ganz going 17-26-1 for 278 yds and an "L" against VT in '08. I'm hoping for some of the same with Lee, but add a "W" and we'll be good to go!
  16. Here's my spin: The Good: Huskers roll to a 24-6 halftime lead with Lee gaining confidence and stats along the way. Team looks pretty sharp for the most part. The Bad: The team came out flat in the second half - offense sputtered, defense didn't look sharp, etc. etc. I can't say whether it was boredom or shock during the second half, but it wasn't the same team from the 1st half. The Ugly: We didn't exactly "put em away" with this being one of the primer games going in to VA Tech. A full on @ss whoopin would have eased the nerves for next week's game. Bonus: I'm feeling a little more at ease for the MU game after their not-so-spectacular showing against BG...I'll get a first hand look at them when they come out here to play Reno, so I'm hoping for more of the same (except with an "L" following that one).
  17. Nice, but you should get some points for even taking her to the game in the first place. I fly back for a couple games a year and have footed the bill to bring my wife with me just once in the 8 yrs we've been married. Less bitching and more drinking makes for a better game experience!
  18. No Black Shirts yet. They had too many issues stopping the run and gave up some big plays. VA Tech had two guys rush for over 160 yards each and had a team rushing total of 439 yards. Granted it was against Marshall, but the Huskers have some work ahead of them before next week!
  19. Whoa there, the cart is getting a little bit in front the horse aint it? Let's see how it goes against a team with higher caliber players before we start handing Lee the heisman. Don't get me wrong, I like your enthusiasm and hope Lee does as you say against VT! GBR!
  20. Good luck to your team in '09!!!
  21. Hell yes!!! Why should Nebraska fear a team from the Weak Ass Conference (WAC) as I like to call it? Living in Reno which is deep in the heart of WAC country, Boise State is the top notch team that the University of Nevada considers a rival (and usually plays them close). Yes, this is the same Nevada team that Nebraska beat down 52-17 in '07 with a 5-7 record so bring Boise State to Lincoln early so that we can end the talk of BCS aspirations because the WAC doesn't have anyone to offer up as a true opponent.
  22. Top notch! I've added one as my background
