Northwestern has never been good on defense. Just opportunistic. They wouldn't have beat us in 2011 had Rex not fumbled inside the five or Quincy fumbled on the 20.
I agree. There was definite improvement today. And that's all I really care about at this point. Just continue to improve over the course of the season and play your best ball at the end of the year.
We are so young on defense it's stupid. All of our major contributors on defense have their best football in front of them. Need to get our linebackers to start flying to the ball. Afalava was a monster today.
