  1. Weisman is a very good player. Extremely powerful and deceptively fast.
  2. Beck all day everyday. While a good deal of our offenses success has been improved talent and coaching on the offensive side of the ball, Beck has gotten us to the point where we can score on anyone. Our offense was anemic at times during conference play Watson's last two years.
  3. This isn't 1980. Just looked on another site and he's listed as the 20th tight end and 360th player overall. NFL teams these days do not waste picks on tight ends if they are primarily blockers. Two guys who are nearly identical to Ben Cotton physically are Kevin Boss and Bear Pascoe. Boss was a fifth rounder and Pascoe was taken in the sixth, slots where you see Cotton going. Only difference here is that both of those guys had over 100 receptions and 1200 yards in college, on top of being top tier blockers. Cotton has more career starts than career receptions. Tight ends like him are a dime a dozen as far as the NFL is concerned.
  4. No offense to Ben, but I think the only thing he and Jason Whitten have in common is the fact that they both play tight end. He's an unathletic blocking tight end who might catch an occasional pass, NFL teams just don't waste draft picks on those type of guys. My bet is he'll be picked up by a team via free agency. Kyler Reed on the other hand will definitely be drafted and probably make an impact because of his athleticism. I don't think Ben would take any offense considering you couldn't be more wrong. I'm confident that I'm right, but for the sake of argument I'd be more than happy to revisit this topic when the draft has concluded and Ben's name hasn't been called. Ten tight ends were drafted last, all of whom had measurables and production greater than Ben Cotton's. Cotton is ranked as the 16th best tight end going for the 2013 class. He will be an undrafted free agent, who will be lucky if he catches on as a practice squad or special teams player. He is a great player for us, making clutch catches and as a devastating blocker, but he hardly has the athleticism to get open in the BIG. Alot of NFL defensive tackles are as athletic as he is.
  5. Dennard has slowly been taking over the #2 corner spot for New England. Not sure if he has been listed as the official starter for the last four or so games, but I do know he has played the majority of snaps. He's shown some really good flashes so far, but there have been times where teams have made a concerted effort to throw his way and have had success doing so. Overall, he's been an absolute steal for the Pats. Drawing quite a few comparisons to Ty Law.

+1 Great point. It is an awesome facial hair. Perhaps eclipsing the Camstache. Love the fact that Taylor's participating in No Shave November. Awesome.
  7. Physically he could be a clone of AP. He doesn't have anywhere near the athleticism though. If he did he'd be the number one player in the country.
  8. This sentence is a farce. First off the weapons that are in this offense make it hard to spread the wealth. This is a problem beau likes. Knowing that he has guys that will leave him in very favorable match hon. Second shots are looking at way more things the number of catches a TE had in a year. How they block and Finnish plays factor in almost more in their eyes. Things like this out weigh the numbers, a reason why Ben Cotton will be drafted As important as Cotton is to our offense, their is no chance he gets drafted. Inline, run blocking tight ends are not in vogue these days, especially ones who are going to run five flat at the combine. You are correct in saying that numbers mean little when it comes to drafting tight ends. Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, and Chase Harper are a couple guys where potential trumped production. If this Sandland kid has it, the NFL willl come calling regardless of where he goes to school.
  9. Larry Fitzgerald was the best college receiver I have ever seen, and despite having an incredible final season could not win it. I love Bell, but no receiver will win the heisman without 2,000 yards and a couple big special teams tds. Like previously stated, an all american nod, or even all conference would be great. Who was the last NU receiver to be 1st team all conference?
  10. From what I've found, LP was the last husker back to rush for 1000 yards his sophmore year. Ahman had a thousand his freshman but not as a sophmore. Pretty elite company.
  11. Tom Brady didn't need restrained. O'Brien threw a hissy fit and Brady just sat there like a boss.
  12. Exactly. I've been a die-hard Patriots fan over the past 6-7 years and have watched pretty much all of their games. Everyone knows that the real driving force behind the Pats' offense is Belichick along with Brady. Not to mention potential future HOFers that have been there the past few years in Moss, Welker, and Gronkowski. Also, their roster is stacked with role players that are built for their system like Faulk, Woodhead, Edelman, and Branch. Bill O'Brien was only the OC there for one year anyway, following the more highly regarded (by patriots fans) Charlie Weis and Josh McDaniels. The guy was a OC in name only. Just youtube the exchange between him and Brady to see who was really in charge. Obviously, you can't deny he's done a decent job at Penn State considering the circumstances, but don't think for a second he's an offensive guru that's going to light us up on Saturday. He's got an average qb in McGloin, who's going to sit back and try to dink and duck us down the field. As long as we stay patient and not allow chunk plays, there will be many opportunities for takeaways. Nebraska by 17.
  13. Maybe Stafford should stop worrying so much about flipping off the other team and spend more time not blowing coverages and missing tackles. I burst out laughing when he fell feebly at Le'Veon Bell's knees they were one on one in the open field. He acts like he's superman when he's ear-holing receivers who don't see him coming. I'd rather have guys being overly aggressive on the field.
  14. As much as I disliked playing on the deuce, I'm glad we were not the ABC headliner. Seriously, when was the last time we won a primetime network game?

  15. Good win tonight for the huskers and another fine performance by Ameer. One thing that I found curious however, was the lack of any carries for Braylon Heard. The guy has only done positive things anytime he's gotten a chance, and I find it strange and a bit upsetting that he hardly gets to play. Even the last few minutes of the game, when we have everything wrapped up, Ameer is still getting carries along with Cross. You could also see Heard standing right next to Bo, looking like he was dying to get in. Does anyone know what is going on here? Does Braylon not know the playbook, practice poorly, or is he in the doghouse for some other reason? Not to knock our other running backs, but in his limited PT I see a skillset that could make him the best runner we have, and that's saying a lot. I would love to see what he could do with 10-15 carries.
  16. Taylor Martinez has taken about as much grief as any Husker player I can remember, and the guy has continued to keep fighting. You can point to a couple runs in this game where you could tell he just manned up and sacrificed his body for the team. He recognized his flaws and sacrificed his time, money, and pride to get some help to improve. Regardless of what happens during the rest of his career dude's got my respect. With all that said, I'm looking forward to getting someone else back there. He's been the least of our problems, but if as of right now he's not a player who will put a team over the top. Hope I'm wrong.
  17. I cannot stand the guys in the booth. They are pulling for tOSU big time.
  18. Dari nowkha on College football daily always has nice things too say about Nebraska. his editors prefer too worship the SEC but when the huskers come up he always has nice things too say even when things aren't going our way. Didn't Darii Nowkha go to college in Nebraska?
  19. So what was the purpose of the dual color shoes? Looking at pictures of the game and they look black.

  20. Maybe Bo's defense calls for a different style of DE, but I wanna see guys like Wistrom/Vanden Bosch/Rucker/Kelsay screeming around there play after play. I see a bit of that in Martin, absolutely none of it with any of the other guys.
