If anyone has issues with the money Bo is making they should also take issue with the money that Shawn is making. He's one of the highest paid AD's with almost no experience. He was hired on potential just like Bo. He's also made some pretty big errors this year PR wise that someone in his positions shouldn't make as well as with the relationships with his top two mens coaches. That being said. I understand he's got a hard job. He's also in an uncomfortable position at the moment and probably doing some things outside his core belief system. I don't think that makes it 100% excusable but its probably reality.

He wasn't very good at following recruiting rules. He had a hand in making one of our top targets ineligible and then we couldn't recruit him after he was reinstated by NCAA.

Well if that's the case id expect him to commit soon and cancel his Louisville trip. I don't know if we get him even with the fact he'd like to be here and his buddy is here. Sounds like there might be more to play with dad on this kid. If we do get him it will be because we climbed mount everest with this one.

I think this response was ready to go for most possible hires. Who was on your short list? I kinda liked Nick Monroe from BG...but I knew he was a longshot. JTrain brought him up and from what I've read about him he's an up and coming coach who's young and gets recruits. Honestly, I wanted Sanders for the #1. So did Bo. It was nixed.

Strong wanted him as OC. His department did not want him along for the ride at all. Sound like (according to NU boosters living in Texas) there are several upset he was 1 -hired and 2- going to be the OC. Sounds like the folks approving contracts wouldn't do it until they met half way and stripped him of the OC title because they want a spread offense rather than one they ran that got them the job. (7th coach of course)

Whose fault is that, though? Kinda how the ball rolls. A coach with a lot of momentum should attract a lot of candidates. A coach in 4-loss stasis has to work harder to convince guys of the opportunity. Yeah. I see Florida who lost 7 games had a horrible time getting an new OC./sarcasm. Perhaps when their AD came out in public support an reassured everyone that they were keeping their coach and he had a tough go of it because they lost a starting QB, 2 Oline and their #1 WR it was as much about that as anything. He also publicly stated he thought he'd be here for a long period of time that killed the media sharks that were starting to circle. Their coach put them in the exact same situation (or worse) and yet they reacted completely different. Why is that? Will has the same rep of being a hot head and similar relationships with the media. So what's different?

Also was Air Force's recruiting coordinator before become defensive coordinator so that sounds good to me. If you're a football recruiting coordinator at AF you dont really do much. These kids are being recruited to be in the AF and football is a perk. Much more important things than football for an AF student. They are not just committing for 4 years. Now saying that, i'd rather have a good DB coach than a good recruiter and im glad to see Bo go "outside the family." And with new recruiting dept it shouldnt be as big of a deal, if we ever get it up and running! So far behind on that it isnt funny. I also like the fact he will be bringing his military background and can hopefully help with ingraining the importance of discipline, work ethic, and teamwork. I think you'd be surprised at how hard job being and RC at a place like that could be. You're looking at kids that will fit your style as much as anything. And while you may be looking at kids who want a military education there are several perhaps even the majority that you bring in after selling them on the idea that the military is a good option after football. That falls right into our line of thinking. We are students/life skills first, athletes after that. As far as dropping d stats this year its more to do about the Dline than the DBs.

If the coaches aren't getting 2 year contracts I could see this happening. I don't know why he would have ties to Bo other than through maybe RB. He was a special teams hero for us. Don't know if he could coach that for us or not. If he actually knows anything about it I'd be for him on that alone. Im really hoping for someone that's gonna land us some big time recruits. I said in another thread that I wasn't overwhelmed by TJs recruits especially the defensive backs. Husker fans admiration for TJ didn't equate to the level of recruits that should come with such thoughts of the guy. Imo TJ wasn't a bad recruiter. He had a pretty tough job. Last contact I had was back toward the end of Nov and he was a little miffed at the negative nancys but didn't say he was taking a break or anything. I figured he was busy with work that time of year. Maybe he was attacked by one of the metros 3 active serial killers and thrown in that set of trees down my Shenandoah where they found all the dead hookers a few years back. Whose names are being thrown around? I don't think they know who the serial killers are or they'd arrest them.
