Not good. Bolt really screwed the pooch on the pitching staff for 4 years.

Not arguing, just interested in what you mean by this comment

We have given up 39 runs in 6 midweek games.  6.5 per game

The AVERAGE Team ERA in D1 is 6.5 for the season.

We basically have our backup pitchers throwing these games vs starting lineups. How do you think Basketball and Football would do if they played a game with the Backups on one side?  Lets go play a football game with our starting Offense and our backup defense and then complain that we don't have enough depth on defense. Its development time for these pitchers and its really hard to sit for weeks then get reps and magically perform like its a video game. They will be fine.

Creighton, Wichita State and Kansas obviously have enough pitching in midweek game to beat us.

midweek games are developmental games and it's why the voters don't put much emphasis on them. Still, if Nebraska wants to continue it's poll climb they'll need to win every series and sweep one like Rutgers who has really struggled of late. Scary thing is, Rutgers has the offense to really challenge us and their Saturday starts (outside of High Point) have been exceptionally difficult. Can't express how important it is for us to win Friday. Especially on the road. As for the midweek game. It wouldn't hurt Bolt to use an under used experienced pitcher like KP in say innings 3 & 4 on a regular basis given the success Sears has been having on Friday's imo, which as we all know isn't worth a grain of salt. Huskers are ranked and we're here bit*&ing about it. In the prez's words "Come On Man".

Wichita State started a guy with  3 starts and an ERA under 1, Creighton used every high leverage guy they have from the 4th on. Kansas out hit us, somebody has to win.

We started Freshman in 2 of the three games you mentioned. You aren't going to get any HS arms to come here if you bury them on the bench for two years. Its a long season and who gives a s#!t if we host, lets make the tourney.

you cant continually throw guys weekend, midweek, weekend. The arm isn't made to do that all the time.  Not saying you but people treat it like its a video game, he got 2-4 days rest lets throw him again.

throwing a guy to get 2 innings on a Tuesday and not using him again until Saturday isn't an issue. They used Daiss for 2 innings and he'll be used if needed Friday. Bullpen arms are meant to throw in consecutive nights. They aren't stressed with 70+ pitches and are often used only in situational pitching. Nebraska could have used Horn for 2, KP for 2 (not likely KP would have given up 4+ runs) and Olsen for 2 followed by 1 inning each for Borst, Daiss, Sanders... May or may not have made a difference but to argue the weekend bullpen shouldn't be used on Tuesday is kind of a senseless statement in the full spectrum of the game.

Both KP and Worthley were unavailable last night after playing catch and reporting to Rob how they felt. i'm not talking occasionally, im saying they arent built for it for the long term. Both those guys have thrown/got hot basically three times a week every week so far.

senseless argument aside it cant happen every week.

This I am full agreement with you. We need to develop our next year rotation and that's what midweek games are for. It's also why the midweek games have very little effect on polling votes. Sure, bad losses are bad losses but conference winners mask those with the achievements accomplished in conference and I'm sure you'll agree with that statement.
