TripleOption
Great effort today guys. Thanks for showing us that you haven't given up. (And man, do I ever loathe the Longhorns...) (And for the record, nobody is happy with 4-5. But if we had been blown out by 30 points again I would have seriously lost my mind.) Quote Link to comment
DCHusker
I'm really upset right now but I'll be over it soon. The players gave it their best shot. But, man, man I am pissed we went conservative after going up 17-3 in the third qtr. We had this game won and the coaching absolutely blew it! We should have kept pouring it on but then we went to the predictable run, run, pass, punt offense and let Texas back in the game. It was so easy to see Texas would go ahead and win. I do not blame Keller at all. Basically after we give up the lead he is all of the sudden supposed to turn into Superman I guess. The playcalling was so predictable in the second half...we tried to sit on the lead and you will never win like that. McCoy is not that good of a QB...we had him down and out...to the point where he goes into the faking injury mode (he does this everytime Texas is about to lose). Why the hell would we let him get back in the game by giving him the ball back and giving him chance after chance?! The defense did the best they could...we got worn out...as expected because we kept giving them the ball and not putting together drives and additional points. I absolutely want coaches in here that know how to finish games. If we had put another TD on the board and gone up 24-3 I think Texas and McCoy melts down and they don't win this game. We let the Horns off the hook!!! I agree. Cali went into his shell after the score in the 3rd qtr. We needed to attack, but, I forgot who our head coach is. Just can't beat Texas, man that pisses me off. What is it now, 1-7 since the start of the big 12? Am I reading this correctly? Went into his shell? He did excactly what he should have. If he had come out throwing away and punted without taking any time off the clock you would be criticizing him for that. When we got down he came out with a series to get us down the field and within a field goal. The reason we lost is because we kept all out blitzing late in the game and UT did a good job of picking the right gaps to run at on two consecutive possessions We had scored 17 points the entire game and you expect Callihan to come out and "attack" and run up the score. Give me a break. Quote Link to comment

zoogs
GUYS, let's not complain. I'm heartbroken, as are many of you, but we did an OUTSTANDING job out there today. And I mean everyone on the team, even the coaches that we have been vilifying. You can pick anything apart you want, but the fact is we went into a road game, 21-point underdogs and in full-season-collapse mode, and played a HECK of a game. We did everything right today. Except win. Quote Link to comment
adc7236
Even though today was a loss, its one of the best games the Huskers have played all year..... and against a quality opponent. Quote Link to comment
TripleOption
Yes, this Nebraska team is terrible. No matter how much we're looking for the bright side, we'll have to feel that way when we look back on this year. Err... Scratch that. We'll never ever look back on this year again. But this week, they did at least show some guts and that's commendable. At least this week did not add fuel to this fiasco... For me, it underlined the fine line between winning and losing. And yes, perhaps that's a cop-out, but it's a lot better than another 30 point blowout. (But how the mighty have fallen, eh?) Quote Link to comment

Wharf Rat
I give a tip of the hat to both the players and coaching staff for this game. They came out and gave it a hell of run but ended up just a bit short. The effort was there all day and the team didn't quit (like the previous few games). The staff had a good game plan on both sides of the ball. The pressure defense ended up costing us in the 4th qtr. but at least we were out there playing competitive ball and not play two handed touch. It was great seeing McCoy get leveled several times. All-in-all, I'm much happier with this loss than the prior four. Honestly, I don't expect wins any more but if the team can put out an effort like this rest of the year I won't be upset even if we don't win any of them. Quote Link to comment
TLS2
If you're this upset when we only lose by 3 points (granted I'm disappointed too! We had the game won and the minute Callahan put the 'offensive headphones' back on we started losing) I wonder what your reaction would've been had we been blown out 45-10 or something like that. Good Grief Man!! We were competitive for the first time this year! We got a glimpse of our future and after we clean 'coaching house' we're going to be back! I for one can't wait. Here's to the Future! TLS2 Quote Link to comment

Give me a break. Yes, Callahan should have attacked. You don't try to sit on a lead and hope Texas is not going to score on your poorly rated defense (it was obvious Texas at home was going to put points up and you'd have to score more than 17 to win). We hit them in the mouth with 17 points, we were in control, our defense was rattling McCoy...why the hell would we let them back in the game?! We were going balls to the walls on defense, so not sure why he put the brakes on the offense. I am not saying he should have passed on every down...but why go into the predictable run, run, pass, punt shell? This type of coach think absolutely lost us this game. Quote Link to comment
Glass
I hate losing, but I'm not going to say anything bad about the effort. They did a lot of things a lot better this week. Nice job by Ganz in a tough situation. Quote Link to comment
SupportHusk
I'm glad you guys are satisfied with losses. What a defeatist attitude...."At least we didn't get blown out" Think the teams in the 90's would have been satisfied losing 5 games (in a year)? Let's put this in perspective, we LOST!
