np_husker
Here's a quote from Shawn Watson at the Big Red Breakfast this morning... Of QB Kody Spano, Watson said he was surprised to learn that the true freshman had never taken a snap under center before spring practice. Spano played in a high school system that used the shotgun exclusively. "He's really, fundamentally, come a long way," Watson said of Spano, redshirting this year. http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3918...;u_sid=10396039 As a side note, where do all of you think Spano will fall in the mix of QB's next season? robsker
Well, no one can say for certain but he is highly regarded and apparently has skills. There is every reason to think he has a shot to contribute. Why not? He has been around NU for some time now (he came early) and all reports have been positive. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Um..they didn't know what sort of system Spano was in when they were recruiting him? Quote Link to comment
admo
Next year the spot will be up in the air. Witt & Lee will have the edge from the get go, but it doesnt mean that someone else cant outplay them & become the guy. We shall see. Quote Link to comment
noenwolf
How dare you! This is now the BoWatson team it doesn't matter what you did, it's what you will become so what if the head O guru has no clue about one of it's future stars. BoWatson can do no wrong. Quote Link to comment
rkhufu7
Um..they didn't know what sort of system Spano was in when they were recruiting him? Same system as Ole Miss's Jevan Sneed and UT Committ Garrett Gilbert, they all had the same HC, Chad Morris, empty sets, 1/2 back spreads, zone reads, options, QB runs and such, and NO HUDDLE HURRY UP! Hunter94
Spano could easily push the other 2...should be interesting.....i don't see Lee or Witt getting much game-time this year... Quote Link to comment
bbhusker
To me Spano looked very impressive in the spring game. I know he wasn't going against the 1s but he played very solid. Quote Link to comment
huzkerbob
I thik Spano has a good chance to contribute. Not 100% sold on Witt yet. Might turn into a battle between Lee and Spano come next spring. There mobility could give both an advantage. And since we are using a mobile QB now the transition would seem natural. No? In the Deed the Glory
Um..they didn't know what sort of system Spano was in when they were recruiting him? How is that possible? The offensive cooridinator didn't watch any film on a future QB? That is one of the scariest quotes I have ever read! Quote Link to comment

They don't watch every single game the kid has ever played in. They probably figured that at some point during his high school career he took some snaps under center, like in a goal line set or something of the such. Most systems have at least a few instances where you take a snap under center, even if they are shotgun/spread based. Quote Link to comment

Hunter --- mI too fear that neither Witt nor Lee will see much time this year --- and if so, next year will likely be a step back for the team rather than a step forward. Quote Link to comment
