HUSKER FREAK
What I don't understand is, when they got the money the economy was unstable. Yeah, they made money I think doubled up if I read right, but Why wouldn't you pull what you need and let the rest invested? And for Christ sakes why would you put all of your eggs in one basket? I know people will argue they made money, and nobody can predict what is going to happen, but how many stories like this do you have to hear before people quit making such foolish decisions. The only people I feel sorry for are the students. They will be the ones suffering. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
It was Tbone's decision not to pull the money, not Okie States. They wanted to pull the money, but he didn't. How is the school to blame? Quote Link to comment

hack
Two questions. 1) Is this money gone for good, or can they salvage some of it in a year or two? well, we could nuke saudi arabia, venezuela and iran to keep the oil supply inaccessible and drive-up the price... but that's a LONG way to save Okie Lite football. 2) Is this Pickett's f!-up or Okie State's? from the article, i'd say it was a combo of t-boone and his fund managers. sounds like the school wanted to grab the money and put it in an account while it was still... like, y'know... THERE. but t. boone knew better. or so everyone thought. which leads us back to this clip... rX7wtNOkuHo Quote Link to comment
jayhawk
I have only seen this on blogs, the only real news source I had heard on this is ESPN said that construction is stalled. It is probably true, but it did not exactly come from CNN or Reuters... Could be half true or exaggerated. Quote Link to comment

You mean I can't depend on fake Oklahoma Daily News web sites that report made up stories about OU football players? Sounds like 4 clicks on the mouse too many. Quote Link to comment
papersun87
I guess that means OSU students will be seeing an increase in tuition costs next semester . . . Quote Link to comment
topekahusker
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Courtesy: okstate.com Release: 10/24/2008 Oklahoma State University is issuing the following statement through spokesperson Gary Shutt in response to erroneous and anonymous blog postings concerning the status of the funds donated by Boone Pickens and reinvested in BP Capital, as well as the future of the west end zone project. Rumors circulating that the funds generously donated by Boone Pickens to Oklahoma State University's athletic program have been completely depleted and the massive west end zone project will not be finished are, without question, false. They are simply not true. While it is our practice to refrain from commenting on specific donor activity, the fund still has considerable assets and plans continue unabated to finish the west end zone, which is the cornerstone of transforming Boone Pickens Stadium into an exceptional college football venue. The west end zone project remains on schedule with an expected completion next summer. The OSU/A&M Board of Regents remain in complete support of our direction. Boone has been very generous to Oklahoma State University with historic gifts to both athletics and academics. His gifts remain transforming and the impact of his generosity will be enjoyed by OSU students, faculty, alumni and supporters for decades to come. We are considerably further ahead now than we ever would have been without Boone Pickens incredible gifts, as well as the many others who have stepped up in recent years to support both athletic and academic programs and initiatives at record levels. Thanks to donor support, we have tremendous momentum and great enthusiasm in academics and athletics across our campus and among our alumni. Quote Link to comment
