blackshirtsfaninmiami
This was not a classless move at all. It was still the first half. You don't stop scoring on a team just because they can't stop you. If this was with 5 minutes in the 4th we might have a discussion. This was just a great offense taking advantage of a poor defense. sarge87
Being that early in the game by all means. Anyways, Stoops used it as a momentum smasher, letting the opponent know they can score anytime from anywhere. College football is a momentum sport. There are some coaches that will lift the boot off their opponents throat in that situation, and sometimes it comes back to bite them in the butt. It's the D's job to stop them, and they couldn't all night. Quote Link to comment
newenglandhusker
I don't think it was classless due to the timing. It's kind of grey because the score was what it was. If it happened in the second half, I agree, it would have been a very classless thing to do. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I agree with the points it is up to Nebraska to stop them and that it was still the first half. If it had been done late in the second half then I might take issue with it. Quote Link to comment
Touchdown Tommie
Not classless at all....the defense needs to be able to make a play....which they didn't. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
We never accepted Osborne going all out in the first half as piling it on (because it isn't), nor should we cry when another team does it. There is so much for a team to work on. 4th and 1 is a good gut check for any team, and a 2 minute drill at the end of the half is great game practice for something you might need to win a game down the line. And on the defensive side, it's good for us to work on it as well, even if the game is out of hand. Â I always figure anything one team can do in 30 minutes, the other team can do in the 2nd 30 minutes. Quote Link to comment
NUpolo8
If the Nebraska D had a problem with it, they could have sacked up and stopped them. Quote Link to comment
macroboy
Not classless at all. If you don't like it stop someone. Â I think we beat them 69-7 one time in the 90's. Were we classless? Quote Link to comment
longtimefan
I don't think it was classless. I would rather try and stop them from scoring than they put up an easy 3 points on us. Quote Link to comment
NU fan in Denver
I didn't think it was classless at all. They could have lined up and kicked for 3 points, but they gave us an opportunity to STOP them. We all know the result of that. Quote Link to comment
AR Husker Fan
Also, bear in mind that Oklahoma has - in more than a few games - come out on fire in the first half and then seem to go to sleep for at least a quarter in the second half. If I'm coaching a team like that - particularly against a team that has a fairly good offense - I try and grab all the points I can in the first half in case there's a "dead period" in the second half. HuskerNMO
That and we've shown the ability to block FG's amd XP's, so why take a chance on us doing that and taking it back for 7? I think if anything, it showed respect saying that they don't feel comfortable enough yet to take a chance on this game being 35-14 and momentum possibly swinging a bit. Quote Link to comment
dustinl15
The premise here is that they are giving us chance to stop them from scoring any points. It's up to us to actually stop them. I totally agree. Quote Link to comment
HUSKER 37
In the second quarter when it was 35-7 and OU had 4th and one from about the 5 or so, do you think it was a no-class call to go for it? Â I had a few disagreements with some OU fans because I thought that was a bad call, unless they were just trying to pile it on. Â Man.. As a Husker Fan, I'm really embarrassed by a couple of posts in this thread. Â They didn't really need 3 more points that much..Maybe..If the score were close.. And if they failed on 4th down..We're backed up deep in our territory. Â What? Would you rather they took a knee all second half? That would be the most severe way of rubbing our noses in it. Â Â Â I found it almost re-assuring..Stoops, like I, still felt we had a chance. Quote Link to comment
hskrfan4life
regardless if it's classy or not. Go for it if you think the other team can't stop you and thats what he did Quote Link to comment
