Mizzou writers up to it again...

after reading my post it sounds hateful. Didnt mean it that way. Just look at both teams. They have issues. And to deny that is nothing but kool-aid. For MU fans to pretend like they will pick up from the last 2 years like nothing changed is laughable. Just like it is the same for Nebraska fans to assume they will be fine on O without alot of the pcs that made the team the last 2 years. Also lets not forget the lack of atheletes and playmakers on that D. Sans Suh ofcourse. There are still too many questions on both teams for me to crown anyone.

I just have a feeling with the pot calling the kettle black all summer this could get very old, very fast...

It's all good, even outside of the hood... :thumbs

OH MY GOD!

Someone's not picking Nebraska to be the best team in the Milky Way!

Actually, Dave Matter writes exclusively on Mizzou sports and has a very informed opinion. The guy's at every single practice.

And don't forget he's a Missourian - as for Nebraska? "Show Me".

Missery has 8 victories against Nebraska in the past 39 games...show me indeed.

And if you seriously believe that your Tiggers will win the north after losing: both your OC and DC coordinators, a 3 year starter at QB, Maclin and Coffman, among others, then I'll show you alright...I'll show you to a rehab facility so you can kick your crack habit.

F' in missery fans...you get two victories over Nebraska, during the four years where we had arguably the worst coaches in college football history on our sideline and you think you're king of the world.

:box

As for '08...well the team was still trying to recover from the previous moron we had as head coach. :dumdum

I will show you 4 of the last six (3 of the last 4). Because you and I both know what happened in 1981 effects 2009. Because you know, NOBODY FOR EITHER TEAM WAS BORN THEN. Yes Nebraska ran of 25 staight, that can not be overlooked, BUT its the FAR past and has no effect. That streak ended 6 years ago. Long before anyone on campus now stepped foot there. For that matter Missouri lost its fear in 97. They may not have won that game, or the next 6 but people kept thinking they could win. And when it happend they started expecting to win in Columbia.

Infact I would argue that for the current huskers, if they dont beat MU this year there might become a mental hurdle. "Mu just owns us." And when its the middle of a game that thought starts creepin up as things go wrong. I sure know this. Few current Tigers even know what a close game with Nebraka looks like. They are used to walking right up and kickin their aazzzzzes.

I have gone over this before, but if you are crapping on this team because of the loss of cordinators, you are dead wrong. BTW does NU have a D cord worth a darn?? NO the they the boneheaded brother who couldnt get his own job. But that doesnt matter because Bo's the HC right? Just checking. I thought that MU's HC was the OC for a National Champion and had been an offensive coach for twice as long as BO BO has been in football. But I am sure that doesnt count right?? Not to mention that the current OC called plays with the old OC last year and the year before and the year...well you get the idea.

Let homers talk and dream Jen. Its kinda like you believing NU will blow away the North and Kick MU's butt even though Nebraksa lost one of the highest rated Qb's in their history and two year starter. a 4 year TB who was a great duel threat and a total yardage leader, two of the most decorated WR's in your history including one of the best statistical WR Nebraska has ever had & two NFL caliber O Linemen.

Talking smack or not. Its lipstick on a pig. Both teams are doing it. You are just as guilty as MTF.

IM OUT! :box:thumbs

:)

So in a few years if the Huskers go on a streak of 8 or 9 wins in a row Missery fans won't be saying, "Look what we used to do to you 9 years ago. We used to kick your butts." Something tells me if something like this were to happen, Missery fans would be more than happy to go back 9 years to try and rub in our faces that you won so many of so many games against us. Don't be arrogant, you will!!!!!!!

Matter only writes about Miz-ouri sports.

Goes to all the Miz-ouri practices.

He must own the paper. Otherwise why would they have him on the payroll?

Oh by the way Miz-ouri is a contraction of Missouri and Manuer ( which is prety much what I think of his opinion!).

Thats not my game. You dont see me talking about how we beat your 97 championship team and got robbed on an illegal play. I dont tell stories about how in 78 MU ended your orange bowl dreams stunning the home crowd. I dont preach about what brad smith did. And I wont talk about what Daniel, Coffman and Maclin did either. I dont brag/live in the past. Really who cares about that. They are fun stories and nice to remember, but does nothing for this years game. It doesnt effect the here and now. IF that was my style I would talk about how MU was the winnest major college program during the 1960's. I would talk smack about how from 58-62 Mu won 4 straight against nebraska by a total margin of 78-0. Thats right 4 straight shutouts. But what does that get me? A whole lotta nothing.

Unlike 'husker fan' thats not my style. ;)

What struck me about his analysis was how NU, despite having a good season, had some trouble getting there with close wins over teams like CU and Clemson. I wouldn't disagree. However, MU had close games too like with Baylor and Northwestern.

Dave also points to players like Weatherspoon and Washington. Again, i would agree with him that those are solid players. However, are they really night and day better than guys like Helu, McNeil and Suh? I don't think so.

To me, it seems like he takes two similar situation and only focuses on the problems at one program (NU) while only looking at the postives at another (MU). From reading his assessment, you never would've guessed both these teams finished 5-3 in conference. I wouldn't say he is wrong about his predicitions, but his reasoning seems flawed to me.

If anything, having to replace a guys like Ganz, Swift and Nunn vs. Daneil, Maclin and Coffman actually makes me more optimistic about NU. Not being as good means, by definition, that are easier to replace. It's not so far fetched that Lee, Paul, Holt and others can fill in adequately, and in which case we know the offense will put up some points. Maybe even be a little better. In MU's case, i'm skeptical that they've got three guys on the bench that can fill replace the same level they just on offense. And if not, what does that do to guys like Weatherspoon, or a defense that was very porous at times?

For MU fans to pretend like they will pick up from the last 2 years like nothing changed is laughable. Just like it is the same for Nebraska fans to assume they will be fine on O without alot of the pcs that made the team the last 2 years. Also lets not forget the lack of atheletes and playmakers on that D. Sans Suh ofcourse. There are still too many questions on both teams for me to crown anyone.

I just have a feeling with the pot calling the kettle black all summer this could get very old, very fast...

This i would mostly agree with.

Each of NU, MU and KU have issues to deal with. The winner of the North (and sacrafice to the South champion) will be the one that manages their losses the best. I don't see any of the being particularly strong next season.

I should haven't of said you, but instead "they" or something like that. Do you really think since Mizzour has beaten us the last 4/6 and 3/4 years that we don't hear about how Mizzou has been kicking our asses? No offense, but I know when we were on our winning streak against Mizzou I didn't hear anything from Mizzou fans. Now that you've had some success against us most of your fans are just completely arrogant and think Mizzou is the next best thing since sports catheters.

Other fans will always say to Nebrask fans now in our last few tough years, "now you know how we felt when Nebraska was beating us year after year after year." What I say to that is, I don't believe we were really rubbing it in your face at the time that was happening.

Now there are fans that will go back and bring the Nebraska win streak against Mizzou up in order to use it to defend the program. When all you hear from Mizzou fans is how we are no good, we will never be good again, Mizzou is the class of the North now and always will be, you have to defend your program. We've hit a rough patch, but if we ever start to dominate the North I would bet Mizzou fans won't be so vocal anymore. However, even though we have hit a rough patch, we will always be vocal, confident, and keep the swagga because of our football history.

Peace!!!

C N Red,

True fans will always love their teams. Mu, NU......or even.....(puke) kansas. LOL. Band wagon MU fans are giving you grief. I believe it. Just as my neighbors and co-workers dont wear red on fridays anymore and talk smack to me now. Nebraska has some great fans. they also have their fair share of wagon jumpers. We all do. But as much as it sucks, that means your team is doing well. I will always have respect for those that stick it out. NU fans included. (Most would kill for your "down" period , just so you know. LOL)

All of this bantering is MOOt. We all know Nebraska is going to beat misery this year. This writer doesn't know what he's talking about. End of story.

Like a cow's opinion??? Sorry Friends reference real quick.

Short, sweet, and right to the point. I tend to agree with you on this one, but it is still a mental challenge.

And Fro Daddy, no disrespect meant here because you are awesome, I would say that the fact Pinkel (before the former OC was helping call plays I believe) was completely and utterly out coached by KEVIN COSGROVE. There is no way you should have lost a single game to NU over that 4 year stretch with Cosgrove as the DC against your offense.

That being said, maybe it is a bigger deal than you let on that Christensen (I think that was his name) is gone...

Just sayin'.........

All three have major obstacles to over come.

In my oppinon Nebraska has the most. I can see them picking Missouri over us, and Kansas for that matter.

We have to face them in their house. Which has not been our strong suit.

Kansas has a proven QB over both of us.

My vote currently would be Kansas, a toss up between Mizzou and Us. But we have not seen a single down of fall practice. Things could change. Just because kids have not started does not mean they have not played and played well with in their systems.

My hopes is that we live upto the high expectations some have, but as I see it we are still a year away of being close to being back. And that will take some real recruiting to get it done.

Missour most likely has the most talent presently, I think we are second and Kansas third.

I think Suh is the real determining factor in both of these games. If he is what he is expected to be we have a good shot at both. Injury we become a very average defensive team.
