Igetbored216
He maybe could be better to the media, but for Tom to say he is shunning the fans because of it is a stretch. The only reason he is saying it is because he's trying to get the fans behind him by saying, "Hey, look what Bo is doing to you." No Tom. He is not shunning the fans; he is shunning the media. Next time, just come out and say it. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Dave5
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I expect Bo to focus on putting a competitive team on the field, not performing like a public relations specialist before or after a game. I love his press conferences, and appreciate the passion he has for success. So many people on here expect him to just take a tough loss like that in stride, yet they get on here and start demanding that some players get benched, etc. The hypocritical fan base is somewhat amusing. Bo is Bo, and I'm glad he was irritated after a tough tough loss. I don't want a phony baloney coach. If you don't like his demeanor, then don't watch it. Today in his press conference Bo was both serious and humorous. Quote Link to comment
huzkerbob
Bo isn't shunning the fans so much as he's just being an ass to the media. Whether people think that is OK or not is really a reflection of their attitudes about what is an acceptable way to treat people. Win or loss, it isn't that difficult to just answer the questions in as little or as much detail as he chooses. To do so with such a bad attitude all the time, is unnecissary, and reflects poorly on both himself and the university. There was a time when people where respectful of each other not because they deserved it, or earned it but because it's was the right way to act. Now days it seems like if your at the top of your profession (especially in sports) that this some how gives you the right to treat people with complete disdain and contempt. I for one don't buy that, and it is a big reason why I can't stand guys like Bill Belichek and Urban Meyer. They treat the media AND the public like sh#t, because they think they are above them, and shouldn't have to answer to them. But regardless of the excuses people trot out for them, the truth is it's a completely disrespectful and obnoxious way to treat people, period! The truth is, these millionaire coaches have a job to do, and so does the media. If Bo can't handle that part of his job then he can go coach at a place like Southeastern Louisiana state A&M, where nobody gives a sh#t what he has to say. Quote Link to comment

Twodocs
Bo is a great coach and he has good rapport with the media and the fans! Bo will learn. He is already well loved! Today someone asked if he thought he was like Devaney! He is like Devaney in many ways. He is intense for one and can spot and develop talent. I would love to have him come out some game in an overcoat and Bob Devaney Fedora! http://pictopia.com/perl/get_image?provide...hoto_id=8415028 Bo can coach! Just like Devaney he may have some rough edges. When Bob D got here he knew how to work a room and a crowd. He also knew talent. He could really tell a good joke! He knew talent and people. He found and gave us TO! THE GREATEST LINK http://odc.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=5002&p=1489 And also Frank Solich old # 45 COVER BOY LINK http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/si_online/.../0920_large.jpg Regarding Bo just smile when you say that pardner Here is how this may have happened--- prior to the VT game Let us suppose this happened, say a fan wrote TO a note like this--- "Dr. Tom Osborne; I was embarrassed when I watched Bo do a press conference. Words like rude, confrontational juvenile, uncooperative and just psycho come to mind when looking for impressions of his performance. perhaps coach Watson should take the dais. If his predecessors had acted this way there would not be 300 sellouts. In any other Nebraska town he would be persona non gratis based on rude attitude. Bo Is he stupid or just plain nuts and he claims he does not need any psychology advice to coach. I will defer that opinion to Dr Tom Osborne. If he thinks this is not a very disturbed individual or just a very uncooperative public ambassador that is fine but I think perhaps Dr. O you need to attend these and judge the vibrations in the room for yourself. It is very unbecoming for Nebraska University! May I suggest a Dale Carnegie intervention or perhaps Toastmasters! This guy needs some help and guidance" Wow we have some crazy uptight big donors and that sounds super critical And then lets suppose the same fan meets Tom Shattel and he remarks to Tom "Hey Bo is really rough on the media" but T. Shatel might have said something like this..... Hell Bo is great with the media when he is one on one, say in the halls and off the record and the national media gets along well and likes Bo. That is how this type of observation may have got started... But if you saw BO on the coaches show after VT he was wearing a white golf shirt. Not a addidas red husker shirt. Screw the litlle contracts. But we are talking $$$$$ and it is part of the huge comp packages for the staff. There is big money being paid for a certain image for shows and appearances and as the ambassador of good will by the sponsors to get to the fans. There is nothing like winning and sales are way up! Today his tone was much better and he was wearing the Addidas logo Red Coaches Shirt Perhaps there have been some false impression created that are fixed.... Addidas pays a huge amount to NU and the idea is for the coaches to wear it so the fans will buy it Under a older scenario say the AD asked Bo to wear a red sports coat and white shirt for a press conference and Bo said umm no not So the ad sends secretary to ge Bo a coat and white shirt from a local mens clothing sponsor and brings it to Bo who throws it away and also his chance to change his title from interim to Nebraska Head coach That AD SP would turn out to be an a****** but that IS ANOTHER BEDTIME STORY Quote Link to comment
BigRedfxtoy
I would say, no he isn't. He is very emotional, just like most of us, and needed to collect his thoughts. I'm sure he was a shocked as the rest of us. I know I would need the time to settle down. There was no intention of shunning anyone. He will get better at this, better than I would. Hunter94
i say leave Pelini alone and let him do his job. the press nowadays is a giant PIA anyway. POT. Quote Link to comment
Fuzzy
Shatel is just writing that because he's all butt-hurt that Bo didn't answer the question. Agreed. Shatel is a fan, and as a fan if his question is not answered by Bo, he cannot say that it was everyone's question. If Shatel is the guy that asked "what happened on that big pass play?" He deserved that answer. Anyone who knows the dynamics about the game of football or watches the games, knows what happened. Ask more constructive questions such as... What good and bad things did you see from the offense/defense in this game? What is your gameplan to improve the aspect of that for the next game? IF it were me, id be an ass, and say "Well the reciever ran his route down the field, the QB passed the ball and he ran 80 yards. Quote Link to comment
redout22
I shunned people after the game and no one took anything from it. No big deal here, he was just a little mad. Understandable. Quote Link to comment

Apathy
Mr. Shatel might want to make another article in tomorrows paper about Bo not shunning the media in this video....its 29 minutes long but Bo does crack up the media quite a bit and I enjoyed the whole 29 minute video. I was even laughing along w/ Bo. Link below http://www.ketv.com/video/21063041/index.html Quote Link to comment
BigWillie
Bo hates the press. There is some BREAKING NEWS to report. Shatel is butt hurt he cannot get the stories or quotes like he could under the old regime. Same goes for the rest of the reporters. They are essentially useless unless you just want to read some canned responses from the coaches every week reported by guys like Shatel, because that is all we get. Bo doesn't want stuff leaking to the media and doesn't like speaking to the media in general. It's how he is and I doubt he is changing. Shatel better get used to it. As someone else said, the only thing Bo owes us is a winning football team. He could be mum for the rest of his life for the media for all I care as long as he wins some football games.
