rcruter
have seen a couple of stories that there is a bigtime investigation of dirty dealings at FL and that is what is driving this leave of absence. mentions of death penalty popping up. have no idea myself, anyone here heard anything or have more specifics? Is this the stress that has made a real hrt condition turn worse? Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
FYI...wrong board but... I told my wife when this story came out that something didn't add up. Wouldn't be surprised to hear there's some "funny" dealings going on down there but if USC can get away with it, I'm sure Florida can as well. Quote Link to comment
DJR313
I doubt it. They showed video of him on the sideline grabbing his chest during the SEC championship. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
There are some pretty unsavory things you could find in just about every program across the country. The NCAA isn't going to inflict the death penalty on a cash-cow program like Florida, or USC, or Nebraska or Notre Dame. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't more to this story, though. There is no way Urban Meyer is under more stress than just about any D1 coach out there. Maybe he handles it differently and that's causing a problem, but bottom line is, it's a stressful job for everyone holding the HC title. I would bet there would be something for a good investigative reporter to find in this situation. Too bad there aren't many of them out there anymore. Quote Link to comment
Touchdown Tommie
When the news broke, my wife's first comment was, "I bet he did something illegal." I think the reason why so many people might feel this way is b/c he is at the top and it came as a huge surprise. As noted above, is USC can get away with anything, even though there is pretty good evidence, I would not be one bit surprised if the NCAA looked the other way. Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
too political to fool with florida. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I don't know for sure the kind of person Urban Meyer is, but from my experience he is a really good guy worthy of a lot of respect, and I doubt he would do something like that. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
I think saying that Florida will receive the Death Penalty is way off base and way to extreme, but the possibility of Florida being in trouble isn't crazy. It has kind of gone unnoticed since the poster boy of Florida is such a clean good person, but I believe Florida has the most players arrested over the last couple of years. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
It's not crazy, but if Florida were in any kind of trouble an extended leave of absence wouldn't do much to dodge it. I'm inclined to believe it really is just health. It's a high stress job and not everybody handles it the same way. Or has the same diagnosed conditions. Quote Link to comment
krc1995
My GOD! If Mangino can can handle the stress you would think Meyer can. J/K Quote Link to comment
HuskerNMO
He's got a cyst on his brain that causes issues when he gets excited or stressed, has almost caused him to pass out several times. Some outlets are claiming he had a mild heart attack mid season, nothing good, and certainly all reasons to take a step back. Quote Link to comment
