TemporarySaint
There's a rumor going around that Beck was responsible for playcalling last night. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
I can confirm only that I will, at some point, confirm that I won't deny it. Quote Link to comment
HuskerInLostWages
I think that's exactly what it was, a rumor. It was the same exact plays we've seen all year long so there is no way Beck was calling plays, that's all Watsons playbook there. If it turns out that Beck was calling plays, which I doubt, then he's taken a page directly from Watsons huge playbook and only used 3 or 4 of those plays. Just my opinion. Quote Link to comment
GMoose
No way. All those runs from the shot gun and lack of screens when they were obviously needed is classic Twatson Quote Link to comment
beanman
I think the rumor was that Beck was more involved in the gameplaning and bowl preparation but Watson still called the plays. I don't recall who posted it and they listed no source, so who knows what to believe. I say shame on whoever it was that called them. Quote Link to comment
RazzinGTO
If you ask me, based on the plays we ran, looked like classic Wats. Quote Link to comment
Malth
If you mean that Watson was telling Beck what to call, then sure. Beck called the whole game. Quote Link to comment
TemporarySaint
If you ask me, based on the plays we ran, looked like classic Wats. TBF, classic Wats would be WCO. I'm still curious to see if we can get a confirmation either way. Even if it resembles what we've run this year that doesn't mean anything. See the 2002 game against Ole Miss when Turner called the plays and it didn't look a thing different from what Frank called all year. Quote Link to comment

Can anyone confirm or deny this? that's ........everyone knows Bo's saltwater aquarium guy was scripting the plays......has been all year. Quote Link to comment
HuskerNMO
ESPN panned to the coaches box several times, Watson had the play sheet and was calling the plays, period. Beck did have a greater role in preparing the offense for the game, but Watson still scripted the opening series and called all of the plays. Quote Link to comment
mnhusker
Toward the end of the game on 3rd and long the annoucers really ripped them for calling a play action, the comment was "I don't think anyone was fooled tyring to run play action on a 3rd and long situation" 1 Quote Link to comment
MuskyTCHusker
No way. All those runs from the shot gun and lack of screens when they were obviously needed is classic Twatson There's no way anyone could have called a screen play to slow down the rush....our playbook does't HAVE a screen play (except that little slip-screen we run twice every 3 years...that we now can't execute, anyway). What about the screen play that OU ran back for a TD a couple of years back? Quote Link to comment
