Popular Post tyvodka23
Dearest Fairweather Fans, I have been a long time reader of this board, I seldom post. I come here for many reasons, most of which is because of the great information and discussion that takes place on the board. This board is an escape, a chance to fall into husker heaven and take in all the great things about this amazing team that has led me to many moments of jubilation, triumph, and pride. However, as with all things in life, there have been moments of disappointment as well. That's life. This posting however will not be about the team. It is about and directly issued at YOU, the "fan" calling for Bo to be replaced, it is to you, the "fan" calling for the removal of the blackshirts, it is to you the "fan" who calls out individual players like you would do a better job while wiping the potato chip grease off your fingers across the red over worn '95 championship shirt that goes only fits so far to cover the top half of your belly button, while you recline in your lazy boy. It is to you, the "fan" who after a win will come to gloat and bask in all it's glory, proclaiming that "We are back" only to the next week after a loss, come in here to blast the team and every single component of it. This letter is to you! If you are one of those who cannot handle criticism and are thus going to quit reading this before getting to the point, I will state the jist of it now. You are an embarrassment and a disgrace to the entire fan base. If you were a fan of Texas, Michigan, Iowa or any other team and posting on their board, we would have a thread here on huskerboard pointing out your moronic spewing of trollish comments directed at your own team. You, your team, and your fan base would be mocked for over-reacting and your supreme ability to show your idiocy. And the most ironic part is; you would most likely be the one to start the thread. The game this weekend was one we should have won; it was a disappointment to be sure. We had set ourselves up well to finish with a chance at a conference championship and a high BCS bowl, the season was looking "Rosey". However, this game in every single way was set up to be a trap game, and we all knew it. An emotional hard fought win the previous week, a big game the following week; and an under-performing yet solid team to face this week. They were over-looked and we got caught. This isn't the first time it has happened it happens every week to good teams, excellent teams, and exceptional teams. Even '97 NU damn near got caught at Mizzou. To call for a coaches head or anything of that matter following a loss of such a nature during what is an otherwise very decent season "so far" is asinine and an over-reaction in the extreme. In short be disappointed in the loss, express concerns about the o-line or the defense. But support the damn team win or loss or go cheer for Mizzou, Okie-lite, Auburn, or any of those other teams with no history of greatness, and a bandwagon fan base that vanishes after the first loss of any season. Trolls should not be wearing red and white and posting on a Nebraska message board as a fan. We Nebraska fans are better than what this board has shown over the weekend. Hold yourself to that standard or find a team with a lower standard. 23 Quote Link to comment
Enhance
Great post man! I agree with everything you said. And correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm going to defend what I think might be a reactionary response to this, but the OP is not saying you can't be critical of the team. Far from it. However, I think the point is that the reactionary threads and posts coming from many of our fans are just downright embarrassing and downright uninformed. These things happen, people, just like the OP said. Quote Link to comment
Hammerhead
If you've been a long time reader of this board, then surely you've seen several threads on this board after a loss that are exactly like yours by now. Husker fans are, ultimately, no different from fans of any other team from any other sport. It is what it is, and nobody has the power to change that. And thusly doth the cycle continue... 4 Quote Link to comment
AustinHuskr
Right. if you criticize your own team you are a "troll". Stupid ignorant line of thinking. 5 Quote Link to comment
WhatDoIKnow
A "message board" makes it very easy for people to "vent' there frustrations and have their voice be "heard". Everyone wants to vent and be heard. No different than any other team message board. I don't know that "message board" fans represent the entire fanbase as a whole. A lot of talk now takes place on message boards instead of just bars, cafes, and barber shops. 2 Quote Link to comment

husker B-rent
i see nowhere in that post where he said if you criticize your own team you are a troll rather the repeated posts and the constant posts about firing a coach with a 7-2 record are ridiculous. it gets stupid and repetitive. +1 to you OP. Enhance
Right. if you criticize your own team you are a "troll". Stupid ignorant line of thinking. Once again, anybody who isn't criticizing the team is a sunshine pumper and is ignorant to the truth of the world!!!!! Give me a break. He's obviously talking about the reactionary BS that's been flowing around this board like sewage in a drain pipe the last couple of days. He didn't say criticizing makes you a troll. Nobody here has a problem with constructive criticism. It's criticism that is not put together well, or that is unfounded, that is the subject of the OP's post. Quote Link to comment
Hooked on Huskers
My bet Bo & Company (especially Bo) even most players NEVER read message boards including Huskerboard, HuskerMAX, Huskerpedia, Huskerwhatever, etc Quote Link to comment
3rd and long
How come you can't be a fan and be critical. I think the play on Saturday was criticism worthy. Is some of it over the top, yes, but I really think that is in the minority. I for one feel quite justified in questioning certain things that happen on the field. I'm not calling for anyone's head, just questioning. Seems like an awfull lot of good points have been brought up, good football points, points that don't seem to be so uninformed. I think someone should start a thread calling out all the "holier than thoughs" that are SO much better fans. But sorry Ty, we're sorry we are an embarassment to you good fans. I'll try to see if I can find a golden halo to match yours. Maybe there should be a seperate, password proteced forum for just the good fans. It would keep us "less worthies" out. In all seriousness. I wonder how many posts there have been that have actually said they want Bo fired. There are a lot of posts with questions about him, but I'm thinking it's really less than you would think that are actually saying "fire him". Could be wrong, but I don't think so. 1 Quote Link to comment
tmfr15
I think what stunk about this game is that we did enough to both win and lose. On offense, I thought Taylor stepped up and played great. On the downside, we couldn't seem to stay on the field early and was unable to get one yard on a couple of occasions. And we turned it over. On defense, we forced turnovers and made big plays. At the same time, we were unable to get off the field at times and couldn't get their run game stopped late due to fatigue or whatever excuse you want to put out there. On specials, I look at the work by Maher in the punt game and it makes me smile. But the kick return to start the second half was a killer. It was good. It was bad. It should have been a win. It's easy to find fault with most everyone, but hard to be critical of them because they did good things too. Frustrating. ERRRR.... please, let's get to Saturday soon so that I can quit taking pain meds while trying to think through this damnable abomination. Quote Link to comment

Lyons in the Sea of Red.
I agree with the part of calling out the people who are calling for Bo's head, and so on. But there isnt a top 25 team in the country that wouldn't be critical of a performance like that. Obviously, some people here tend to stretch the limits on "critical". Quote Link to comment
Hammerhead
Right. if you criticize your own team you are a "troll". Stupid ignorant line of thinking. Once again, anybody who isn't criticizing the team is a sunshine pumper and is ignorant to the truth of the world!!!!! It goes both ways. Either you're a sunshine pumper, or you're a bandwagon fan who's just here to troll the board. Like I've been saying, this is something that's going to happen with every team in the country, no matter the sport, no matter the level. If your team wins, people will say they can beat anybody. If they lose, people will freak out. In both instances, you have the middle-of-the-roaders saying, "It's not as good/bad as you think it is." Much arguing ensues, much changing of opinions does not. That's where "And thusly doth the cycle continue..." comes in. Quote Link to comment
