JGS30
Hello Husker Nation!! Glad to be back where the cornfields are plentiful. Congrats on a solid season in the big 10. I'd say your team is in great position to compete for the Big 10 Crown next season. But enough about that.....has anyone heard any rumors about former KU Head Coach Turner Gill returning home to coach your QB's?? I ask, because there has been some grumblings that something might already be in the works. I wish Coach Gill nothing but the best of luck wherever he ends up. He is a great mentor and teacher of life. However, I feel he was in over his head as a head coach in the big 12. Just curious if you all have heard anything. -JGS30 Quote Link to comment
Hingle McCringleberry
I doubt he would come back to be a position coach... If anything it would be some sort of AD position. Quote Link to comment
Cina
Nah, I'm taking the job. Got the call yesterday. (ibtl) Quote Link to comment
HuskerinLibertyMO
I thought I read somewhere that his buyout would be reduced if we went back to work this next season. I think I saw that in the KC Star. Sorry can't remember where. If that's the case I doubt TG has a paid coaching gig anywhere next season. Quote Link to comment
NUance
If Turner does come back to NU we'll probably only pay him $1 per year. At least until all that KU buyout money is depleted. Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
As much as I'd like it I just don't see it. It would be hard working for the guy who was hired over you. Quote Link to comment
CockInYourEar
Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I'm more curious to see if what I heard about Phil Fulmer going to Kansas is true, rather than whatever happens to Gill. First Mangino, now Fulmer...is there some surplus of wicked cheap buffets in Lawrence or something? 5 Quote Link to comment

Hey they have plenty of tents clothing that would fit Fulmer in their storage room. Quote Link to comment
The Dude
Getting Stoops and Gill on board would be bitchin'. I think it would help recruiting in a big way. I doubt either one happen though. Quote Link to comment
Captain Hindsight
I hardly see how he's qualified. He has no golf pro experience and I don't think he'e ever even been to Cardinal Mooney high school let alone attended class there. 8 Quote Link to comment
Calvin
There was rumblings that Bo and Turner don't quite see eye to eye. Not enemies, just don't keep in touch and likely won't be looking to work together. I'd love to see it. Have met Turner and his family and they are truly good people. Quote Link to comment

Mangino overachieved there and they will never be that good again. 4 Quote Link to comment

Quite frankly, he took advantage of the North when Nebraska and K-State had terrible coaches whom let their programs slide to irrelevance. Colorado went downward quick after Barnett left. Mangino brought in enough talent to compete for a bowl game with an experienced senior laden football teams. But in 2007, the schedule was so favorable against the Big 12 South and the Big 12 North was terrible outside of Missouri. And in a bowl game with a month to prepare, any out come is possible. If NU and K-State had their current teams and coaches back in 2007, KU would've never went to the Orange Bowl. KU will never again be relevant in the Big 12. Quote Link to comment
