ADS
So with Cook committing, that gives us 14 for the year (15 if you throw in Dixon's commit just for argument sake). When was the last time we had this many commits before the first game of the year? And where were we this time last year or any of the Pelini years? I have not followed the recruiting process very long, but I have to say that I am impressed with the number of verbals. Clearly we are not going to be OSU, U$C, Michigan, or Texas where there is deep talent base to lock up early(See 2014 Texas commit list) but this is something for this team and state to be proud of. This is the most Pelini has ever had before the season starts. With it being such a big class, up to 28, it makes sense we are taking alot of kids right now. Quote Link to comment

I get what you are saying about the class size, but the kid still needs to make a commitment. When was the last time we had this many kids give a verbal this yearly? Never? I am impressed with the coaches going out and trying to get the players earlier. Big class or small, get them on board early and stick with them Quote Link to comment

I think even the higher rated recruits are pressured a little to commit to one of their top choices before teams classes fill up! Quote Link to comment

huskerhill
told our huskersillustrated staff that "nebraska is just a verbal" It would be nice if the coaches take the same approach and tell him, "see ya's" if we fill up... Quote Link to comment
Omaha-Husker
told our huskersillustrated staff that "nebraska is just a verbal" Aren't the all just verbals at this point . Kind of pointless for him to say that. Quote Link to comment

irieboy8
sounds like a quite a stupid thing to say..... to me it just mean... 'yep im committed until something better comes along. gotta reserve myself a place at the table somewhere for now.' i say you either put a lot of work in with this kid or drop him (which i doubt they will do)... i only hope they continue to work hard on other CB's who really want to be here Quote Link to comment
HuskerFowler
He has been contacted by a ton of schools since committing to us. He really likes nebraska, and the rumor is Deon might actually come up with him, but Deons a life long Alabama fan so dont expect a switch. The team to worry about is Auburn because they have spots to give and would be the most likely to offer at this point. Anyone other then bama auburn or georgia and we will be ok. With a visit and a good year on the field by us we could hold off a late offer Quote Link to comment
PaulCrewe
Its really hard to bash on a kid in this situation who has committed without ever stepping foot on campus. Seriously this was going to be a tricky kid to hang into based on his location alone. Visits can do wonders for kids these age and a visit may be ask he needs to strengthen his verbal. At this point freaking out over a comment like this is a little over blown. Quote Link to comment
irieboy8
whatever happened to bo's policy on verbals? Quote Link to comment
dylan
whatever happened to bo's policy on verbals? What makes you think it's changed? The policy was basically you're either committed or you're not and if you're not, we'll keep recruiting others at your spot. Goimg by what's in this thread, I'm guessing the coaches don't consider this kid truly committed but like their odds to finish the job. Seems like the coaches made it a point to really drive this point home on certain kids in the past that needed to shite or get off the pot, due to limited spots or whatever, but that doesn't mean they need to be hard-asses to every kid that gives a soft verbal. It's early and we're actively recruiting for multiple DB spots. Far different from a kid we're counting on that waffles late in the process or is dishonest with the coaches. Quote Link to comment
