Hedley has it right, Martinez is only going to break records cause he started day 1 of his freshman year and rarely got substituted. He hasn't won a conference championship. You can't even begin to say he is that good. He struggles mightly against better teams. He owns a ton of records and he's only played three years to date. He is one of the better QBs we have had. Very system fitting as well. He plays 4 quarters every game! How many of our other QBs can say that? You also get 1-2 extra games a season. Of course you will own stat records. 4 years of 13-14 games while playing all 4 quarters. Most of those records are passing which aren't high cause we were a traditional running team for so long. There are 21 other players-many more than that counting special teams- that play a huge role in a team's win-loss record. A "team" doesn't win championships so it tarnishes a players legacy? Doesn't make much sense, but that is why Frazier is widely regarded as a better college QB then Crouch.... What would that team been like with Crouch instead of Frazier at QB? Pretty good right? I'd take Crouch, personally.... Quote Link to comment

Yeah in 2010 we were never up and had a chance to win the conference. this year in the CCG first pass he threw was interception which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game. Hedley's point isn't about the 'longevity' being good or bad, but merely that Taylor is hitting the record books in part due to having a lot more games started than most of the guys whose career numbers he is surpassing. And with quarterbacks in particular, W/L is a key statistic in their legacy and right or wrong, Taylor's W/L % don't put him in that category at NU. Taylor's phenomenally gifted though as an athlete. Not many will put up the kind of numbers he has done and we have worked out a pretty good changeup passing game with him, at least at times. It's just the good with the bad. 1 Quote Link to comment
