What we learned today...

If they are so talented, that shouldnt have happened, regardless of experience.

You are implying talent is more important than experience? Did you see the Ohio State or Alabama game? Ohio State replaced one offensive lineman and Buffalo bullied him. Khalil Mack and co. were all over Miller at one point and would've been down a field goal if not for a penalty called on a turnover. Alabama won 35-10 but if you watched it it was not a decisive win. They replaced most of they defense and their offensive line and from a team in VT where most picked them to get blown out in a rebuilding year they actually out gained 'Bama. Not to mentioned Vt had 153 rushing yards while 'Bama had a measly 2.5 yard rushing average. This coming from a team that consistently gets a top 5 recruiting class from a Saban coached team that always comes to play. While I respect talent, you can't overlook experience. First game jitters, the anxiety of a new football season, whatever it may be, this isn't an isolated only 'Nebraska' thing. Dear Husker Nation- It gets better.

All I'm saying is that we should never and I mean never give up 600+ yds and be in a nail biter vs Wyoming. How much do we spend on football? How much does Wyoming spend on football? We should be able to beat Wyoming with our 2nd string--well, hypothetically. But, I have had to accept, this is the 'new' NE, so maybe I'm just pissin' in the wind. There's absolutely no evidence under Bo Pelini that this will "get better" as the year goes on, in fact, there's solid evidence to the contrary(see B1G CCG '12...).

600+ yds: the new normal.

6) The difference between the #1 team in the nation and the #50 team in the nation isn't that big.

I didn't just read that. Hmmm, I gotta stop taking those crazy pills...

Maybe 50 was a bit of a stretch, but you should read the rest of the quote. 6 FCS schools beat FBS schools. A top 25 team and a team that last year was a game away from playing for the NC. Last year an unranked Notre Dame team ends up playing for the NC. This is college football. You can play a team 9/10 times and lose. You just need that one time to be the first.

No I agree. 600 yards and a 3 point win isn't something you'd expect from Nebraska. I'm not justifying that we should be alright with this I'm just saying these things happen. Bo and crew will watch the tape and see what we did wrong. For a lot of these younger guys this game is going to be a learning experience more than anything.

Well, lol, yea. By the end of every season the top 5-10 teams usually separate from the pack, and Bama has been in a league of their own for some time now. Notre Dame is separating too, IMO. I agree that, especially in the MAC, more teams have gotten better, but you still see all the same historcally dominant teams at the top of the polls every year, except OR is the newbie, so I don't totally buy the parity card.

Didn't learn much from this game. Went a little worse than expected, but not much worse.

Uh, most predictions I saw, from fans, had us at 50+ to 20-, or so. Yea, I'd say it went alot worse than expected. I was conservative and predicted 41-20 and I now feel like somebody just stole my puppy dog...

Taylor threw a pick with what, 7 minutes left? We put that in and it goes to 44-21, and Wyoming probably packs it in too at that point. So yeah, of course the last half of the fourth quarter was a complete cluster f#*k, but up until that point, Wyo was stuck on 14 througout most of and all of the 3rd quarter. I really think a lot of the concerns are being blown out of proportion. Yes, they are legit, but like Bo said, it's really not as bad as it seems. I'm rewatching it right now. It's really not.

Wyoming will make a push for conference champs this year.

Yea, back in '07 I rewatched some of those games and had myself convinced things weren't as bad as they seemed. I dunno, I think this is as good as it gets under Bo: inconsistent, fairly undisciplined play and underachieving. It's like being in VTech purgatory, Beamer mode, above average but herky jerky and never quite getting over the hump. Some coaches are like that.

I learned that our defensive line is BIG and slowww.
we learned that one last year...
No we learned last year are defensive line was undersized and weak. I also learned that our tackling in space has NOT improved.

Is our DL big? Thad Randle isnt that big. Val is the only guy that I would call big. Yea, they can't tackle in space. No dominant players on the horizon, except maybe Gregory.

I'm saying 'these things' shouldnt happen. Whatever happened to that Nebraska team that used to come out of the gate zero to 60 in 2 seconds, guns a blazin',well oiled machine, hittin' the ground runnin' type thing, knock out the little guy by halftime, week in, week out type thing? I've been expecting more out of Bo;s teams, you know, like play like you mean it, like a good team does, from start to finish. But it's the same deal every year with this guy, and though I support him as best I can, I'm tired of the excuses. We have the talent on this team, right now, that we should have run Wyo out the ball park, but quite frankly, I think the coaching staff is, uh, "subpar" and there's reason to think it won't change much, IMO. Some coaches are just like that.

Crap, Wyo will turn around next week and lose to East Bumfrack U and whatshisname world beater QB who schooled us will looked like he never played the game before. I'm "old" I've seen this movie before. I have serious doubts about Bo and the coaching staff at this point, I've been trying to hold onto my half full koolaid glass, but this sh#t isn't cutting it. Now I'm getting pissed, see what ya did? ;) And what's making me really crazy about now is that some of the fans here keep saying we need to 'hire a good DC!!! HelloooOOO, Bo Pelini, you know, the guy that gets paid 3 mil large a year is supposed to be that guy for god's sake!!! Wow.

BTW, I didn't see much in the way of "youthful" mistakes. What I saw was a defensive scheme get exploited by a good (but nonetheless Wyoming) quarterback. This reault was not because of youth.

I agree. It was again a scheme and a coaching issue far more than it was a youth issue. Also, adjustments... scheme adjustments were not good either.
