WoodyHayes1951
The game was boring and unmemorable. I would have paid full admission just to watch these 18-22 year olds 2 Quote Link to comment
Ulty
As an alum of the Cornhusker Marching Band, I love this. But it makes me sad that we never did anything that cool back in my day. Really nice creativity from their director. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
A friend from Michigan tells me the only reason the Big Ten keeps Ohio State in the conference is they love TBDBITL. Can you confirm, Woody? Quote Link to comment
Lyons in the Sea of Red.
Does the UNL marching band even have the capability of performing these type of things? Or are they so difficult to pull off that it wouldn't go well? You'd think people would see how much pub this can get you and would be trying to do similar things. Quote Link to comment
Ulty
Sure, any quality band could do this. It would mostly be a matter of the creativity and imagination of whoever was writing the drill. The songs they played are simple enough, and there aren't really that many formations in this particular show. The smooth animation would take a couple days of practice, but overall not too complicated. If it was more complicated, it would be less successful. This halftime show was creatively planned, relatively simple, with brilliant results. Bo can take a lesson from this with his defensive schemes, amirite? Quote Link to comment

Can you confirm, Woody? When those fans and alumni say those kinds of things(and I got them in my family that say the same thing too) then you really know we got TBDBITL Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Maybe this is why they're TBDBITL - Camaraderie The Ohio State University marching band is in some sh#t after an investigation revealed the band to be more or less Porky's with tubas and kettle drums. A report stemming from the university's two-month investigation has quite a few details on the internal goings-on of the Best Damn Band in the Land, including the raunchy nicknames bestowed by upperclassmen, explicit fight songs for rival schools, and "tricks" performed by members. Let's start with the tricks, which the report defines as "acts individual Band members perform, either on command or at their own volition." Deadspin Quote Link to comment

Coqui
It's so weird hearing people complain about this now. Because I know for a fact things like this were happening in the 90's when I went there. Quote Link to comment
Coqui
So the complaint came about because Jon Waters didn't empathize with her enough apparently. He investigated what she said, turned it over to the university, and the student in question was expelled. http://www.abc6onyourside.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/abc-6-investigators-osu-marching-band-mom-sparked-investigation-breaks-her-silence-33816.shtml#.U9ucPXlOWUk Quote Link to comment

He pretty much did everything correctly. What was he supposed to do? Ban students from having their own parties on their own accord? Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
I live in Columbus. The media coverage locally was starting to get annoying. That being said this band director has gotten unbelievable support from the Buckeye fanbase while this has been going down. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
I remember going to Madison in 2008 and the entire Wisconsin band being suspended for sexual harassment. They made some female band members perform F on a D(Hint: both words end in O) Band members are geeks so they are mostly pervs too. Band Director shouldn't lose his job for this as I'm sure the UW director didn't either. Quote Link to comment
