Bo Pelini hates the Devil Weed

There isn't anything disingenuous about his comments. A lot of HS kids and college kids smoke weed. They can get into one heck of a lot of trouble by doing so.

That's wrong, imo. How do we justify that?

I don't disagree with you. But, that has absolutely nothing to do with Bo's comments.

I think it has a lot to do with Bo's comments. I mean, his comments were literally directed towards society's changing attitude on marijuana, and even marijuana laws.

He gave his opinion on it, just because it doesn't line up with your opinion on the topic really doesn't matter. It's just another way for you to try and bag on Bo Pelini. He didn't answer the question the way you would've liked so lets start a thread on the topic making sure everyone knows you disagree with it. Amazing.......it's illegal, he needs to make sure his players aren't doing it, simple as that.

Except he wasn't asked about marijuana. He independently brought that up and talked about it. At great length.

And don't say "he had to say that". He's proven to be plenty adept at dodging questions in the past.

And by the way, I'm fine with what he said. Of course he's probably against his players doing that. It's probably been more dismissals due to "violation of team rules" then we probably know. But no one asked or wanted what he said today. I just thought it was weird he picked a day before a game to make that scorching hot take.

Do I think it makes him a bad coach? No, but I find it interesting.

But feel free to to spin my comments into whatever agenda you feel

It's not like he said, "hey, the Nazi's had the right idea" or " maybe we should bring back slavery"...

Last time I checked, this is America, and he can say just about whatever he wants. Maybe he had a bad experience that none of us know about. Either way, find something else to get a case of cranky ass over, and move on...

I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA

It's only a problem because the old folks like Bo have been indoctrinated to believe that it's a problem. It's less far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco, which are fine because society has told folks like Bo that they're fine.

It's not a problem; the only problems is that the law still says it's illegal, and the drug war results in lives getting ruined that shouldn't be for something as harmless as smoking a joint

But I doubt anyone is going to change Bo's mind on this

I drank a lot of beer in college and I still drink to this day. I had a really good friend in college that smoked weed in college more than he drank. To this day, he has a hard time with memory loss and comprehending things that shouldn't be that hard to comprehend. If you really think that weed is far less dangerous than alcohol and tobacoo, then you haven't been around too many people that have been doing it for an extended period of time.

I don't use marijuana and never have. I also don't drink very much. I have been around people who have drank to excess and smoked weed to excess and I will take the potheads over the drunks every time. The drunks are the ones acting belligerent and getting into trouble while the potheads usually just sit there. Weed is less dangerous than alcohol despite your buddy. I have buried friends because of their night of drinking but have yet to bury any because of their night with weed.

I wasn't ever talking about short-term effects. I would agree that alcohol is terrible when people choose to drink and drive. I would also say that there are plenty of accidents with people smoking weed and driving, even though it didn't happen to you personally. I'm talking about the long term effects. Smoking weed effects you long term a lot more than drinking does. I'm not saying that there aren't effects to long term drinking, but I can hold a conversation with someone that has been drinking casually there whole life a lot easier than someone that has been smoking weed their whole life.

Sure pot is worse then alcohol long term if you ignore cancer, various organ scarring and organ failures, anemia, Cardiovascular disease, dementia, high blood pressure, pencreatitis(this goes with organ failures but my friend got that). Then there is the mean drunks and general assholery that comes with alcohol but is rather rare with the cannabis connoisseur. Other then that your golden!

Also you watched way to many stoner movies as casual pot smokers(used casual as you used casual drinker) have absolutely no noticeable change in speech patterns or drastically reduced cognitive abilities, plenty of intelligent and articulate people smoke pot and if someone you know acts stupid, they were stupid to begin with.

Oh, I don't have to spin anything to fit an "agenda" your agenda has been crystal clear for awhile now. If you were fine with what he said then why did you start this thread?

There's not condoning it, and doing what he did

Seems like you have a problem with what he said.........

His comments about marijuana followed when he was asked to expound.

“I think it’s something in society we need to get fixed,” he said, “but unfortunately they get bad information.”

Sure seems like someone asked him a question?

I started the thread because it was newsworthy maybe? Guess I was wrong to start a thread about what Nebraska's football coach said in an interview the day before the first day of the season.

And yes, someone asked a follow up question about his comments after he got into marijuana when asked about recruiting kids today. 100% of the reporters out there would do that.

And my "condoning it vs what Bo did" was more to how he could handle that problem on his team. Like I said, and I guess I'll say it again. I found it weird the way he did it.
