ScottyIce
Dude, a AD shouldn't be required to give a statement to say coach stays or goes at end of every season, just because a bunch of bed wetters think so. 1 Quote Link to comment

AngryHusker88
BIGREDinSD - This has nothing to do with me wanting a statement. Fact is opposing coaches will use negative recruiting against us...not issueing a statement gives them the ammo to do so (given the amount of speculation regarding Bo's current job security). So its in the football teams best interest for the AD to issue a statement of support for the head coach, IF he 100% intends to retain him Quote Link to comment

Normally i would agree but it depends on the situation. The talk is out there, players are wondering, recruits are wondering. If nothing is said now it could hurt us worse. You cant wait until after the bowl game. Firing a coach after the bowl game would be a catastrophe. With all the angst out there it really leaves no choice but to make a statement now. Hujan
If something doesnt happen one way or the other soon(before noon Monday), then SE is f'ing up imo. Quiet and looking stupid is no way to go thru life or run a major college athletic department. I have inside info that Eichorst's motto is, "Better to remain quiet and merely suspected of being stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Quote Link to comment
Hujan
I would guess that at the very least...Bo's status as Head Coach is in limbo right now. If the intent is to keep him...then for recruiting purposes a statement of support should have been issued Recruits don't need a press release. And Bussey reaffirmed his commitment after the Wisconsin loss. That's not what we heard last year. All the Bo apologists and coaches were crying about how Eichorst's silence was making it even harder for the coaches to recruit. So either Bo & Co. were lying last year, or a statement on Bo's status is warranted. 2 Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
At this rate, SE will need to give a statement after every season until the end of time. If he isn't firing Bo, he need not say anything. Quote Link to comment

Questions about his job have been asked at his press conferences, and the largest paper in the state has basically been calling for his head for three weeks, national columnists have been asking the question, Mack Brown offered an opinion on it at half time of the Iowa game. The AD absolutely needs to say something if his job is safe. This is not just message board talk. Either Pelini is going to be fired, or the AD should be fired for incompetence. 5 Quote Link to comment

Correct, as long as Bo's teams are breaking records in defensive ineptitude; failing to compete for championships; have offensive lineman who literally are incapable of doing anything other than false starting, falling backwards, or watching defenders run past them. Have offensive lineman who literally are incapable of doing anything other than false starting, falling backwards, or watching defenders run past them. They're quite adept at running into each other instead of blocking someone, as well. Chaddy's article said SE declined an OWH request to comment on Bo Saturday. Intredasting.... Quote Link to comment

The rumors are flying nationally. If you dont issue a statement at a point like this then when do you. I guess some people are happy to have a coach and program perceived as in limbo nationally. Ya, lets just be quiet and not say anything and make our program an even bigger target of scrutiny than it already is. Quote Link to comment
