Bowfin
Oh for the love of... I can't say I'm not enjoying this announcement, or the reactions to it. You don't suppose this is in anticipation of making Cotton's job permanent, do you? Quote Link to comment
BigRedPowerWagon
This is almost funny. Quote Link to comment

The man who should have been the first fire Bo made years ago, now leading the team..... ironic, or coincidence....lol Now I really think they turn down bowl offer.... Quote Link to comment
Comish
Really, who else...? Barney is ready to retire; every other coach will be looking to his own future. Almost inevitable choice. 1 Quote Link to comment

BigWillie
No matter who we play in the bowl game, pound the betting line hard for our opponent and prepare to cash out. This will be a show, and not in a good way for us. But this was part of the systemic problems we have had here for years. Bo's #2 guy on the staff was a guy that very few people, players or coaches, even respected. I have little doubt that our play is gonna reflect this in the bowl game. Ron Brown should have gotten the nod, without question. Quote Link to comment

throwing bones
He was the assistant head coach...pretty obvious Quote Link to comment
rdwoodpecker
In all honesty There are worse things in the world. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that Barney was picked because he's head coach material - he was picked to keep things from boiling over. He will likely let the assistants take care of 99% of prep and act in his same administrative capacity. He's a damage control pick for one month while other things move forward. Not really a big deal. totally agree with you. I don't care for Barney but he is probably the "safe" choice to coach the bowl game. Quote Link to comment

Jim Hammer
The last interim coach we had for a bowl game was eventually named head coach... Quote Link to comment
