Sea of Red
If I told you that going into the game Iowa would be (0-9)* on third down conversions throughout the entire game how would you have felt about the game? How do you feel now? Tough loss. Blackshirts delivered. * edit Quote Link to comment
Bigred_inSD
The D showed up minus two plays, Tommy didn't show up minus a handful of plays. Langsdorf did his usual head scratching thing.. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
D dominated! Honestly...this was basically a Husker win. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
One thing for sure is that Riley has found some amazing ways to lose this year. Hail Mary pass, INT on 1st play of OT, passing on 3rd and 7 with a minute left in the game, passing 50 times against a crappy team with your back up QB, losing by more than a TD when the other team doesn't convert a 3rd down. HuskerCarter
You eliminate the turnovers from the offense, and Huskers could have won this game. Turnovers hurt way more than stopping the opposing offense on every 3rd down play. Quote Link to comment
gobiggergoredder
Not trying to be that guy, but they were actually 0-9 1 Quote Link to comment

The penalties were pretty awful too. There were very few 5 yarders. They were all monsters. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
It's always something with this team this year. If it weren't for "this" NU would have won. Well NU didn't win those games. Enough of the excuse train. 2 Quote Link to comment

They all seemed to be at just the wrong time too. I won't argue here about the validity of the targeting call with regards to the wording of the rule, but man do I hate that penalty. I understand why they have it, but too often I'm not sure what the defender is supposed to do- let the other guy catch and run? Quote Link to comment
zoogs
It was pretty neat that we were (at least fairly) competitive with the #4 team in the nation. Imagine if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot over and over. Going to have to hurl over the fact that this 12-0, #4 team was Iowa, though... Quote Link to comment

Gerry has taken a lot of heat this year, but several of those second half busts probably wouldn't have happened if he was in there. Williams still played pretty good in his absence. The two penalties that really got to me was the back to back false starts. Quote Link to comment

I have to disagree that we were "competitive" with Iowa. NU never led at any point in the game, and was down 2 scores for most of the 2nd half. Iowa didn't do much on offense because they really didn't need to. Quote Link to comment
