Refs?

Recommended Posts

I listened to the first half on the radio coming back from the 426 Cellar Winery and Matt Davidson was really b!tching about all of the holding and pushing going on before the refs started to call it. Being an WR, he might have noticed it before the rest of us, but Westerkamp seemed steamed about it as well.

So I think that Oregon bought and paid for every yellow flag they got.

There were a few bad calls. The pi called on oregon on 3rd down was bogus (that led to a nebraska touchdown. The illegal substitute on 3rd down against oregon was bogus which made it 3rd and 1 instead of 3rd and 6 (the defense has the right to make a substitution when the offense does, the refs are supposed to stand on the ball) there were also a few more that went our way. If we had some of those calls against us then there would be complaining on these boards. We can't exactly call them whiners when we would be doing the same thing.

Watch the replay again. They had plenty of time to make substitutions. They waited until we lined up ! BS Here!
The ref is supposed to stand over the ball. They didn't have time to make the substitution because we went straight to the Los. That was a bad call.
Respectfully disagree. Matters not, it's in the books!

Rule 352E states that the ref should be placed over the ball, the other ref needs to alert him when the defense is substituting and the other ref will clear him when needed.

It's right in the rulebook.

Yes, but the refs only have to give the defense sufficient time to substitute, they don't have to let them dally, which is what Oregon did. At least, that's my recollection of it.

yeah and "we went directly to the los" not really we were in a huddle, they were just slow to substitute it wasn't even the hurry up stuff.

I thought it this was really well done by our staff. All week they were telling the press that Pac 12 officials let Oregon snap the ball without giving opponents time for substitutions and then we screwed them at their own game.

I was watching on TV but my parents said NU radio half time show was talking about the Ducks DB's holding and committing PI way more than they were flagged for. Maybe it all worked out in the end.

We certainly got the home field whistle and that is just fine. They'll get it some point this year too.

Not to mention that Bray had mentioned being worried about the tempo from Oregon. That the PAC 12 refs were familiar with it and might not make calls related to them not quite getting set before they called plays and wanting to make sure NU got time to sub. That was on refs, who are familiar with up tempo.
