This is what happens when you recruit a state heavily and well.

Yes, this is excellent news! Outside of Held, does Walters have some connections to this state from his days at Colorado? I ask this because we seem to have some great connections in Oklahoma lately.

How funny.  Guess we should have put the emphasis on "supposedly" instead of "gaining traction".  :-(

Tis a fickle mistress traction is, a fickle mistress indeed.

@Warrior10, no jab taken at you at all sir.  Thanks for passing on the news to the board.

No worries, none taken. To be fair to Rivals (even though I think they are typically overly optimistic, sometimes to the point of being inaccurate), a OV could still happen.

Decommitted from Texas Monday

Held visited today.

Said to be look to visit Nebraska.

I certainly wouldn’t turn him down!   Would love to have him.  Hope he got the finger point.  Anxiously awaiting the picture.   Double point and it’s a lock!

Kid has legit speed and would be a good big play threat for us. He's visiting Minnesota right now and I assume we want him to visit on his way back home

-He ran a 10.71 in the 100m last year

-Avg 26.7 ypc this year - over 500 yards and 7 receiving TD

This is an interesting development. Wonder if the coaches just like him more than Wright and think we have a chance to get him?

Callahan posted an update on wright and said he was pretty disappointed with the Wandale news. Callahan was expecting a flip if the visit went well.

I liked Wright but I like Wandale more

Great get if he comes, but please more OL and DL players.

Not saying we don't need that, but I see this comment a lot when we offer WR. Right now we have 3 OL commits and 3 DL commits assuming the news about Bland is true. We also added a graduate transfer DL and put out an offer for another DL to add to the 2 DE we are already after. We're also in on another OL.

Not to mention when you look at the numbers etc. We need WR's just like we need everything else. I think Bland ends up at Nebraska, we are looking for another DL High School and Juco at DE....we dont just need OL and DL and I see exactly what you are seeing

Actually, I posted this before I knew Bland may still be N. Oh I hope we get Houston for sure. I’m just seeing we need all the help we can get on defense, as was apparent this last season.

Plus next year OL class could be big. In on some huge names like Corcoran.

I wonder if they prefer Njoku because of his height. I assume Houston is another speed guy.

I am thinking the same thing. However, you do not pass on Houston because he is just too talented for a position where we have lots of unproven pieces. Njoku fits the mold because he would be able to catch those back shoulder passes against smaller players. We were missing a big bodied guy last year and so he would alleviate that need if he came here.

Yes, no doubt. Njoku is also that guy who you would look for in the end zone in goal to goal situations.  But, yes, Houston would be too talented if he wants to come. Plus we have tall tight ends.

My thought is if we get Houston instead of Njoku, Chris Hickman could fill the big-body role as a hybrid WR/TE. That perhaps would  give him playing time next year with the TE position already well stacked.

Houston looks like the better true WR but seems very similar to Nance. Njoku gives more value if he is willing to block just a little bit. Then we break the huddle with him and Hickman and the defense has to be ready from anything from two tight to spread form then add in the ability of Robinson and Washington to play HB or WR and the defense better be prepared.

He wasn't as highly rated as Njoku is. Also, Njoku has a brother in the pros who can help him out.

Right, and I think it'll be easier to find the shorter speedy guys in the future. A big bodied receiver with talent is more difficult.  I would be fine with either receiver, but if I could only allow one to commit I'd let Njoku be N.

His 10.71 in the 100m would have placed him 2nd in Class A last year and would have won the other classes

He ran a 21.42 in the 200m which would have won All-Class last year.

Millwood is a Class 2A school in Oklahoma.  It has an enrollment of 1000 kids in grades K-12 which would make it a bigger Class C/small Class B in Nebraska.

For comparison,  Nance, who Frost said can really run, ran a personal best 10.66 in the 100m last year and a 21.62 in the 200m.

Any chance we take both Houston and Njoku?

My guess is we’re taking 2 WR with these 2 and the Miami transfer as options.

I see us getting OLB (prefrrably Parker), Pola-Mao, 2 WR and Lockhart as a development project. That would fill the class nicely

We're probably only taking 3 more and maybe 4.

I think we can only take 4 more total.  I think it's probably Parker (OLB), Njoku (WR), James (DB), Pola-Mao (NT)

Fonua could replace Parker at OLB

Houston could replace Njoku at WR

Starks could replace James at DB

Bivens (RB) could be in if Pola-Mao isn't

This staff has their backup plans ready and waiting to sign, unlike the ice cream man.

We also have Katerian Legrone. He is not quite as tall as Njoku, but I seen his highlight video and he runs pretty fast for a large guy. Perhaps Frost would also consider putting him at LB? He hits pretty hard.

How strange it is to not be rushing to fill a class, reaching, and instead having the problem of not having enough spots.

What  about Desmond Bland? if he  is ineligible, then another position opens up right? Not sure about his status. Maybe this is a contingency plan to get another quality recruit if he doesn't sign.
