My job is a series of crappy stories told by beaten-down people. It's the same crappy story, no matter who the person, and when you get done with that crappy story, it's another crappy story with a slight twist on the last one and another crappy story with a slight twist on that one, until they all blend into the same story day after day after day after day.

And then you realize you've been here five years and you wonder where your life has gone, why you're so cynical and why you pretty much can't stand anyone any more. Your hair turns gray, you lose the ability to laugh and you find yourself looking forward to stupid things like the day your stapler runs out of staples just so you can have a break from the dreary, awful monotony of this job.
