No.

By going for it he gave himself two chances to win: either the TD there or one on the next drive. Kicking the FG leaves only one opportunity to win the game, and that's only if you can get the ball back with only 3 minutes left and 2 TO's.

Right. Those decisions are about the odds. You have to think about what happens if it worked.

It was the correct decision, given the odds. Bad play call, though.

Er... no because he gave Purdue the same field position with essentially the same clock count only with Nebraska having less points. Idiotic

Having less points doesn't matter, winning the game is what matters. You can think it's idiotic, but I think you're wrong.

EDIT: And field position didn't matter because Purdue needed first downs not points.

It would have required us to get a FG to win with the same amount of clock....Purdue stopped us on the 18 yd line...a kick off into the end zone after a FG would have put them on the 20 and we would have been down by 2...

Great game by Lee.

Bradley appears to have "it".

Spielman and Morgan can flat out play.

Our OL is rough.  Based on star power, I'd fire Cav.

Thomas and K Davis looked good on D

we actually made an effort to get the TE involved and it worked.

Drew Brown has saved to KO return TD's

Our secondary is really, really rough.

This staff is still in over their heads.

Happy for the win.  I'd like the seniors to go bowling.  They've put in the word despite the staff.

Instead we score no points force are defense to make a stop at the same yardage line as we would have after a kickoff and then force the offense to score a TD...

Coaching, Coaching and Coaching.....Glad for the kids they got the win.  This win took the place of McNeese stat game for me.

-This is you look after a bye week?

-going for it on 4th in 1 qtr inside your own 30?

-inability to return a punt

-low percentage throws (fades) when they need to convert

-come to line of scrimmage with 7 seconds or less left.

-team football IQ is low.  They are not prepared.

-DBs and shoulder issues.  Is it the way they tackle?

-The team lacks chemistry.

The Moos needs to be ready.  Tennessee and Florida going to be looking too.

What if we kick the FG and then Purdue picks up a first down and runs out the clock? Then you never gave yourself a chance to win.

If you go for it, you've got a chance to win right there without the other team getting the ball. And if you don't get it, then you've still got a chance to win if you can stop the other team.

If you kick the FG, you MUST stop the other team, and you only have one chance to win.

The no call on the DPI on our 4th and 6 at the end was pretty suspect as well.

That was great coverage.  The play personnel was far more concerning.

And Zoogs even while blocking a gunner, the defender(Bootle) should check 1 that the ball is kicked and 2 peek to find ball to get away from it if it is coming towards you.  Your return man hopefully is screaming fake a bunch too, pretty sure crowd noise wasn’t a factor in him not hearing if DPE was yelling fake

Did you watch the game? We had to stop them anyway after turning it over on 4th down and not scoring a TD. We came away with no points and forced an anemic offense to score a TD to win.

You're only looking at it from the position it ended up in. He doesn't have that foresight. He has to play the odds. Game data tells us on 3 rd and 6 (an appropriate analogue) teams convert about 40% of the time. Obviously you may have to still get a TD after converting, but that's much better odds than hoping you make two FGs and get a stop.
