Lee is our most draftable player.  Somebody will take a flier thinking they can teach him to play in the NFL.  He's got size and a pretty good arm.  It's the old "potential" card.  Otherwise, this team is wholly devoid of NFL talent.

I think Tanner runs the risk of not being drafted at all.  The NFL is a quarterback driven league.  High interceptions in college is a formula for disaster in the NFL.  It is all about an ability to read defenses, make quick decisions, not forecast your throws and place the ball into tiny windows.   He is not good at any of that.

 

DPE would have to be a combine warrior, it could happen in the late rounds for a team looking for a return specialist. 

 

Some others will likely get a look as free agents with the hope of becoming a special teams player or practice squad.

Lee will look a lot better behind a line that can keep him upright.

Maybe better, but many of his interceptions were not rushed.  He will be a disaster as a pro

Certainly possible.  I think he has a lot of upside.  He needs more seasoning IMHO.  He'll benefit from a senior season.

Tanner Lee most definitely will get drafted because he throws the ball excellently in shorts.

 

Just curious, what games were you watching to say, "DPE...he isn't very good."?

 

His freshman year he returned 4 or 5 punts for TDs alone.  He was a game changer and impact player--until he got hurt.

 

But to say he isn't any good--well that's foolish.

First of all, why are you only now responding to my post after two months?

 

Second, you answered your own question and proved my point with the one line above.  He was explosive his freshman year as a punt returner, not really as a receiver, then got hurt and wasn't very effective at any point after that. He was the 3rd or 4th best receiver on a bad team.

Unfortunately, the bolded words are the crux of the problem. He never came to close to the same freshman year special teams fire he had. Whether that's due to the injury, coaching or some combination, we can't be sure.

 

As a receiver, I would be shocked if DPE gets drafted. There are a lot of guys ahead of him with better measurables and production numbers.

I think Lee, Brown, Jones, and maybe Gates and Kalu are draftable, all in the late rounds though. Somebody will try to fix Lee, and a few kickers usually get selected late. Jones/Gates/Kalu all have questions they'll have to answer, but they have talent. Jones and Kalu need to run well, and Gates needs to explain his effort level and regression - I don't know how much you can pin on having a terrible coach, but he does have that excuse.

I'm simply saying he's a heckuva lot better than whatshisname said/thinks--drop in his production notwithstanding.

I don't often venture out of the main football forum so that's why.

 

He's better than you think, drop in production notwithstanding.
