  1. Its maddening man. There's been countless opportunities where the TV doesnt even show an opposing defender in the frame on one of the flats where 2am can run it and instead he hands it off to an inevitable brick wall. I do expect a slight alteration in the game calling-- perhaps more traditional I formation/power schemes with another lead blocker in the fold here and there, but I'd be shocked to see wholesale changes. I don't think its a philosophy challenge with this team- its situation football mixed with clean fundamental play that needs to improve. I know it was a short time frame- but this offense looked completely different with Teddy P in there prior to his injury. Fix the line with sound play that is error free 99% of the time and you can make most, if not all, systems work.
  2. Can't recall what podcast it was on, I think it was Sam Mckewon, who made the comment that for 20 years nebraska has been too Qb centric. Offense is all about the QB, instead of having an offensive system and pieces are the qb being the main focus of your recruiting strategy. Obviously an elite playmaker at QB makes everything else easier and I'd argue is a prerequisite for playoff contention, but I would like to see a team where a banged up qb isnt an automatic L like the past 12 years has been.
  3. I mean, if he just simply cuts down the zone read play call where 2AM guesses wrong 80% of the time we're guaranteed to see massive improvements
  4. I don't see these staff changes representing any kind of scheme change. Its about improving via fundamental, sound football, and we haven't done this in years.
  5. I like the news. My guess is Trev put some feelers out there and probably didn't feel great about the candidate pool coupled with the landscape of other schools in the mix for coaches. Between USC, LSU, potential penn st opening, Florida, and others- thats some tough schools to go up against if you're not feeling great about the replacement pool to work with. Give frosty a chance to rebuild the staff a bit and see what comes of it. Worst case scenario, Trev has way more time to find a potential back up candidate and not sprint into a rush decision and make a s#!t hire.
  6. So true. I feel like the narrative has been, there's progress, we just play to the level of our competition too much. Which, how that is worded, implies we are beating some teams when in reality we always seem to pull off something dumb or no show a large part of the game which leads to yet another loss.
  7. The bolded is absolutely pitiful and inexcusable. Every single system in football starts and ends with the O line-- get this fixed in the offseason (the talent is there) and I think we see a completely different offense next year, regardless who our QB is
  8. I don’t disagree with this statement nor is frosty my precious lol. I was simply saying we can’t play revisionist history
  9. Common man, I know times are tough now but Bo needed to go, it was borderline mutual. His replacement was by far the dumber move.
  10. For what its worth, I gave the chili and cinnamon roll a go last night... Wasnt earth shattering but I kind of get the appeal- almost as if i was eating a giant gingerbread cookie the hole time with the sweetness/cinnamon of the roll mixing with the heartiness of the chili.
  11. Fixed it for ya! #1 Healthy Martinez, #2 Slightly injured Martinez, #3 Must win game flub martinez #4 running for his life behind a porous line Martinez, #5 Smothers, #6 Haarberg/Masker
  12. The moral of this story is that Mario Verduzco has pulled the greatest heist over this university and state in the history of this progrum. Guy's resume is bloated with s#!t positions at local community colleges and D2-D3 jobs, UCF was his highest position by far before arriving in Lincoln. QB guru my a$$- someone send this guy on a one way flight to cuba so he can smoke all of his dumb AF cigars he wants. 2AM has arguable regressed after stepping foot on campus. Logan Smothers, the #4 dual threat QB in his class- who knows wtf is the deal with him but clearly must not have progressed given he cant surpass a guy who's lead the f'n country in total turnovers the past 4 years. AND YET, Frosty, who was the QB coach for a god damn heisman winner in Marriota- cant seem to just own this position/coaching group?!?! I'm in the camp of giving frosty another year but I'll be damned if its year I still see that clown Verduzco on this staff when that coaching position could go to, o i dunno, maybe a dedicated ST coach to address our embarrassing as hell special teams. There are so many small broken things holding this team back- perhaps the biggest indictment is Frostys compelted inability to manage people and a staff.
  13. To be fair, my only cost is what I pay Comcast. It’s a sunk cost at this point so I’m simply viewing this masochistic experience as free
  14. The sad part is callahan never had a year, record wise, as poor as this one is shaping up to be.
  15. The challenge w/ EPA is it doesn't take into account the actual end outcome of the plays and series. I believe EPA tries to put a value on a particular play given situation and yards gained/outcome. The problem with this is it basically tracks the value of how a team is doing without taking into account if points were actually gained or not. Why does it throw it off for us? Well I think EPA wouldn't capture dumb as s#!t things such as: Constant penalties stalling drives and negating progress/chunk plays that occurred earlier in the series Doesn't account for atrocious special teams such as a field goal kicker who can't kick a damn extra point or knock in a chip shot field goal for 3 consistently It doesn't fairly value the teams that can get to the red zone yet go limp d!(k and not punch it in for 7, or even worse, at least 3. Why are we ranked in such highly esteemed company? Because we're the dumbest and most inconsistent team in the country with what matters most- getting points and racking up wins. We literally commit every sin I outlined above, consistently. Some could say the strongest thing this team is good at is playing losing football when it matters most. We stack up yardage against most teams, really skew it high against the likes of northwestern, but most times (save for northwestern) we do absolutely nothing with said yardage.
  16. Can you expound on the bolded? The ironic part of our situation is we still have more talent than the majority of the teams we're facing. Looking at our schedule thus far, I would say we breakdown as follows: More talent than: Illinois Fordham Buffalo Michigan State Northwestern Purdue Minnesota (at time of playing) Less Talent Than Oklahoma Michigan Yet we still find ourselves with an inexcusable record due to whatever you want to call our coaching style. I got a chuckle out of this thread and some of the long form responses. Its just a game at the end of the day, a game that we haven't really played that well for going on 10 years now since 2011-2012 ish, in my opinion. Football isn't rocket science but it certainly isn't easy either. Find a coach who can teach the fundamentals consistently and find the players to said system and you have the foundation to build success from there. We have objectively failed at this equation since probably 2010. Whether its frosty trying to go whatever you want to call his spread/up tempo without first building a line and discipline. Or riley trying to recruit and build a system that for the large part of 20 years netted him .500/sub .500 seasons. Or Bo trying to balance the right offense/right defense (could never match these up in the same year) plus having to apply a Big12 system to the Big 10. It really is all about the head coach and his staff at the end of the day. Look at USC, while they've had some higher highs than we have- they sit in the middle of one of the best recruiting locations in the country yet have largely been a disappointment since the last few years of the Carroll era. Nebraska being dead is a load of BS. Simply play sound, winning football, and we're probably sitting at 7-2 or 6-3 right now and ranked in the top 25 with some big time games coming up in November. Instead, we play inconsistent football, do not fill potential, and we lose games we're both underdawgs and favored in. Inexcusable
  17. To be fair, Iowa state not looking all that great given the expectations coming into the year. that Iowa letdown looks even worse now and he’s staring at a potential .500 season when ISU came in with top 10-15 expectations. we’re definitely more of a dumpster fire for sure- but I grow tired of some the bullet proof Campbell hype when they’ve had their fair share of letdowns
  18. He’s had 4 years. That’s more than enough time for a full refresh. watching MSU play sound and spirited football under Mel yesterday, and really all year, is more than enough proof that visibility progress and consistency doesn’t need 4 years to be in place.
  19. Lol common man. You post this acting as if 2AM just has the ability to tell frost and staff, naw man I’m going back out on the field. Wake up, Scott frost is mediocre at best. He’s surrounded himself with a staff that isn’t cut out nor ever had the qualifications for a job like this. our offensive line is a complete f#&%ing joke despite the strong recruiting rankings on there. our running back room is in complete disarray. There’s no clear cut starter and the backs have zero chance of gaining momentum because they are benched randomly AND THEN NEVER SEE THE FIELD AGAIN DESPITE SOLID RUNS. We have more natural playmakers at wideout then we’ve had in years and we can’t do s#!t with them because our OC and quarterback are so inept. we a TE in Allen who will prolly get a few looks from nfl teams yet our ineptness prevents us from scheming any kind of offensive play to him in the redzone when he’s a 6’9 target To cap it- we as fans even give frost more credit then he deserves. I am so sick and tired of this one score narrative- f#&% that- this team was down double digits, at home, for the vast majority of the end of that game. Same thing with Minnesota and same thing with Illinois. While it says it on the scoreboard- to me these aren’t one score close losses. These are inexcusable double digit losses to piss poor teams that we make look better on paper because we finally play with urgency at the end but it’s always too little too late.
  20. I mean to be fair. Purdue’s d line is the strength of their team. Specially when u consider Karlaftis is a 1st/2nd round nfl pick this year. Something we have been unable to produce for close to 10 f’n years now Not like this really matters anyways. Our staff can’t scheme and coach a fundamentally sound offense regardless of the talent we’re facing. Mix in some superior talent across from us? We’re f#&%ed
  21. Can we also end any and all hype for chinander, and more specifically, this weak AF secondary? A piss poor qb just went 34 of 45 on us today. Can’t recall a more overrated positional group than our secondary and the supposed veteran talent we have. 3 yard soft cushion coverage every time all day
  22. I learned that the posters making claims over the past few weeks on here expressing concern for next year without 2AM should have their privileges to post removed for 2 days. Those who said he is nfl draft potential should be removed for 2 months. what a sad state of affairs
  23. I think Trev was just lacking inspiration on her fake name.. Drew some funds out of our secret cayman island bank stash and figured why not call her Cayman Nebraska. It's all coming together
  24. For what its worth, the girl in that infamous bar video earlier this month- her last name is Nebraska... https://www.awesemo.com/sideaction/urban-meyers-girl-at-bar-identified-as-ohio-state-alum-cayman-nebraska/ Coincidence? I think not. Trev gonna sell our damn souls to get on that urban train and he's pulling out all the stops
  25. Fair point. Honestly tho, i have no f'n clue what criteria this staff uses to put the best talent on the field. Put up with enough dropped balls by our "captain" kade warner starting over clearly more talented options that eliminated my trust in this staff putting the best possible team out there. Sounds dumb and basic but I could very easily see a situation where frosty and chins essentially guarantee starting points for some of these seniors that returned.
