  1. When you look at WR, look at how 2018 panned out when frost was just trying to get a class together to hit numbers. Not saying they are not good players, but most of them are on the low end for a reason. I’ll be curious how much attrition happens on the 2019 class. Encouraging to see the rise in rankings. Need to win some games to make the next jump. Excited by the influx at the LB position. Teams have been taking advantage of our LBs eyes and/or lack of speed for awhile it seems. Overhaul was long overdue.
  2. Gap between 10-20, is marginal at best, but that gap between 1-7 and the rest of the top 20 is pretty substantial. Clemson with 6 five stars. Not that stars mean everything, but you can clearly see why those 5 schools are constantly in the discussion for CFP.
  3. Pretty obvious once they were notified by UNL that they would be suspended that they would transfer, especially with no charges. They will find a home quickly, especially Hunt. I hope he files a lawsuit for the reason to prove that his comments regarding NU are baseless. Wouldn’t mind seeing NU counter sue this attorney at the same time. Throwing the racism card at a higher education institution should be fought hard by NU.
  4. Really nothing that can be said. This is a dumpster fire. i never thought the offense would be this bad all year. The defense has been bad tonight but they get absolutely hung out to dry. That all falls on frost.
  5. Weather probably makes that o/u a toss up right now, but skers cover 7.5? Hard to really looks at the statistics with minn considering the competition, but hard to see how this doesnt stay within a td. Thoughts? Note; sorry if this topic is somewhere else. Please delete if necessary.
  6. We have way too many weaknesses to make that statement. It’s also an oversimplification of the issues with our QB play.
  7. I think we all understand the oline is a weakness. However, watch Adrien throw a simple swing pass or screen.. if you think he is in the same ballpark as fields, then you and I are just not watching the same games. Accuracy matters.
  8. Not sure if their should be a controversy, but Martinez has been poor. What happened to vertical passing? Where are the explosive plays? Watching fields (OSU) right now and his ability to put balls in spots makes me jealous. OSU would be good without fields, but they are special because of him.
  9. Anyone see Farniok explain that his weakness blocking is on the edge? He was going up against an all-American, but that is a starting tackle saying that is his weakness. Seems problematic. On facing Ohio State defensive end Chase Young “It was a hard challenge, he’s a really good player. He’s a guy that his strengths are my kind of weaknesses. He attacked my edges. I’m a better power blocker and a speed rusher.
  10. I just don’t understand the grumbling about the defense here. The running game was a problem, but if you came into this game expecting the defense to hold then to less than 30, you have not been paying attention. Our best chance was to be efficient and NOT turn the ball over of offense. Try to get a few punts and field goals on defense. Maybe get a turnover? Turnovers gave them short fields, kept points off the board for us, and gave them extra possessions. Add that to the offense kept going 3 and out.. Did you really expect the defense to just shut them down giving them all the possession? Sometimes the best defense is your offense. They are better than us. 7 touchdowns better? Not sure about that, but it is what it is. Season isn’t over. Need to take care of business in the west.
  11. The snaps are problematic, but AM doesn’t see the field well enough. That has been evident against mediocre teams so far this year and just gets accentuated against OSU. He is also widely inaccurate. He had guys last night, but he kills YAC with his poor throws. He misses guys wide open by making poor reads. The guy has just looked bad this year. Not sure if it’s teams now having a season of tape on him or if he has regressed, but Illinois game isn’t proof that this is an anomaly. Illinois lost to eastern Michigan. Gave up 20+ points to a bad UCONN team. I’m not calling for his backup, but he is a major problem with the offense. OSU is going to score 30 points a game if they stay healthy. They don’t need help with turnovers.
  12. Great post and I agree 100%. Difference for me is the talent gap on the d-lines. That probably holds true for most elite programs as you need to get home with 4 anymore to stand a chance. Our d-line is decent but OSU, like Michigan, is just on another level. They recruit so much better at that position. When you add in that our QB doesn’t make the correct reads, it makes any ability we have to scheme/cover our weakness irrelevant vs a team like that. Were we going to beat OSU last night? No. That team is really good. However, we made that defense look like the 86 bears. 47 yards passing? Guys were open. You need to have a signal caller who can read a defense. Side note: I’ve seen some folks saying fields isn’t good. What game are they watching? He was generally making the right reads based on the defense. He hits his receivers in stride and the touch on two of those tds was elite. The guy is a baller and appears ahead of AM with only 5 starts under his belt (probably why he was the #1 recruit coming out of HS)
  13. No - we’re not worse. How do you guys forget Minnesota and Iowa just running roughshed all over us? Michigan from a talent level is just heads and shoulders above either of those teams and obviously us. One season in the weight room isn’t going to fix everything. I will admit; I’m surprised how bad we look on offense with Martinez. Where are the vertical routes? Either way: going to be a long year. We may only win 1-2 games. Crazy to think about that.
  14. They are playing at 10;30am Tomm on FS1
  15. I’m guessing with no nfl; you’d find a partner willing to pick it up.
  16. Schools typically put restrictions on transferring within a conference to let the kid out right?
  17. Unfortunate that he is leaving but I can certainly understand it. Good luck in his future endeavors.
  18. Who is arguing with you about o-line play? What team in the country in successful without good o-line play? You admit you have little knowledge about the offense that will be ran. I have an idea for you: wait until the first couple games are over to come here spewing your “knowledge”.
  19. I'm probably in the minority here, but unless he drops a stinker against Rutgers or Illinois, I think he stays for 2018, with it being said: put up or shut up. I dont think he can he can survive, nor can SE, another loss on any scale to NIU. Wiscy, OSU, and PSU are all top 10 (close). My guess? We beat the teams we should, beat one of the top 10, and finish 6 and 6 with an appearance in a crappy bowl against a.. Mac team. If the offense doesn't figure out how to be consistent; this could spiral to a 4 win team, which is crazy to think about.
  20. Completly agree on your defensive points. Oregon did have some wrinkles they there in, but I don't understand the delay in adjustment. My only assumption is the kids still aren't there mentally yet? Secondary is young and inexperienced.
  21. Is that you're creative way at attempting to be condescending? Guess that works about as well as your sarcasm comes across over a message board (note: when you have to explain it, you're not doing it right).
  22. Since you're apparently so good at reading, maybe you should look at some of the comments around here. Furthermore, if you actually read my comment, my comment is in question form as it relates to being a fan. The comments can make a person wonder. There is no preaching about how to be a fan, but thanks for preaching about what is important or insightful on this board. Whos the one preaching again? Pot meet kettle. Clown.
  23. Some of you come across as miserable fans. Luck? That is some of your answers. Are you guys even fans at all? In my opinion, you make your own luck by playing hard and to the whistle. Oregon had their share of luck. Does es anyone think Oregon is 28 points better or did the game return to the median through 60 minutes? I think many of you are giving Oregon way too much credit or not giving our team enough. We tightened up in the second half. Offense punched them in the mouth. We looked like the better team in the second half. For you pessimistic folks; how do you know Oregon didn't just play above their potential in the first half? We sure as hell helped them. Itll be interesting to see how we handle teams that don't run the personnel packages we have seen so far. I've generally been encouraged by our run d, which will be important as we get into conference play. OSU showed some holes last night. Im cautiously optimistic.
  24. 3 turnovers and the offende stalled When we had a chance to win the game. Give them credit but through two games I've seen a defense that is making good adjustments at the half and an offense that is wildely inconsistent. Obviously we would all like it to be different with the defense, but I'm more discouraged by the offense like I was last week. We should expect better.
  25. That's called being a fan. Maybe you should find a new team? We won. Be happy and hope for the best going forward. Glad to see some reasonable folks hovering around.
