  1. I get that, but the reality is if we played the 'easier' schedules of most of those teams (like MSU), we'd have 1 loss. It is amazing the extent Husker fans will go to to prove how bad their own team is. So...you have just declared that you KNOW we would have a loss with their schedule. Watching games with you must be a real treat. Woah, I'm not out to prove how bad our team is. My point is simply that I don't agree with Sagarin that Michigan State's schedule is 'easier'. Unless you think that Nebraska would've beat Oregon on the road in week 2, it's my belief that we'd have 1 loss with their schedule. So calm it down a bit there buddy. kchusker_chris's point is a good one.
  2. Not sure if you mean to-date or for the year but so far (according to Sagarin) aTm, Baylor, Michigan St., Notre Dame, Stanford, Mississippi St. and Arizona St. all have easier schedules and Wisconsin and Ohio St. aren't ahead of us by much. How has MSU (Oregon), Stanford (USC), and Mississippi St (LSU) possibly have easier schedules than us? That's one thing I don't like about Sagarin, sometimes the stuff he presents is strange. Earlier this year after Rutgers beat Washington State on the road, he still had Washington State ranked much higher than Rutgers... Because MSU's other three opponents are 100+ and two of them are 190+. Stanford's other two opponents are 130+. Miss St.'s other three opponents are all 110+. Our worst opponent is Florida Atlantic at 115, the other two are Top 100. I get that, but the reality is if we played the 'easier' schedules of most of those teams (like MSU), we'd have 1 loss.

  4. Just noticed that according to ESPN's FPI (Football Power Index), the top 4 teams in the country all belong to the SEC.

I don't see how Auburn and Georgia (with one loss) can be considered top 4. It's just ridiculous the kind of hype they get.

Miss St was unranked at 28 in the AP and beat a very young LSU team on the road and went from 28 to 14.

  5. If there's a place to lose a recruiting battle, it's to the Ivy League. Cant fault a kid for choosing that.
  6. I learned that the running game can be dominant. It was unstoppable last night, the only time it was truly stopped was due to turnovers. Scoring 41 points with having 7 minute scoring drives is pretty incredible. As far as Tommy A is concerned, he's showing us that he can make great decisions on option and zone read plays. He's running the ball great this year and has improved tremendously from last season. As far as throwing is concerned, he still has much to improve upon. He still doesn't go through progressions properly and decides where he wants to throw the ball before the snap. The interception yesterday really hurt, particularly with Kenny Bell wide open on the play with no Hurricane near him. The passing game will have to be better when we play Michigan State to take some pressure off of Ameer. The offensive line continues to have penalty issues, which is understandable considering the amount of times we ran the ball yesterday. Two weeks ago it was Cotton, last night it was Lewis. Hopefully those can be limited going forward. Defensively we played poorly for most of the first half. Our best defense was our offense dominating time of possession in the 2nd quarter and into the 3rd quarter, giving no real opportunity for Miami to score. They got a bit better late in the 3rd quarter by getting some pressure on the freshman QB, which caused him to make some mistakes in the passing game. Otherwise they were exposed a bit by Miami's speed, and got bailed out by two Miami turnovers (on drives that were likely to lead to points) and by an offense that kept them off the field. I know the turnovers we had were also on likely scoring drives, but I still didn't like the defense playing poorly against a good but not great Miami offense. Still, dominating a team like that was incredible to watch. They knew what was coming and still couldn't stop it.
  7. These weather delays better not impact the airing of the Nebraska game...

Looks like they're going to air the illinois/texas state game instead tonight.

  8. Most of the boards I've seen think they're going to be blown out/lose...
  9. This is absolutely true. A loss means another year of being an afterthought. If we want to generate positive buzz about Nebraska, we must win this game.
  10. These are the kinds of recruiting battles we need to start winning. It's a long shot, but he's shown legitimate interest in us for awhile now.
  11. After watching these highlights, I really like what I see from Marcus Newby from the rush LB position. He was in the backfield quite a bit last Saturday.
  12. Hard to disagree. Most of the 247 predictions are trending heavily in their favor.
  13. It's going to be tough to pull the kid with his hometown offer of LSU there. Hopefully having Kendall in his ear causes him to take a longer look at Nebraska.
  14. Exactly. You can tell he looks a bit quicker and faster running the ball this season compared to last year. But he needs to learn to protect himself when running the ball. No need to leap or lower your shoulder for that extra yard, it isn't worth it for any player let alone our starting QB.
  15. TA needs consistency in the passing game, but threw some nice ones today. Defense is yet to produce a legitimate turnover, this has to change going into the bigger games. Offensive line didn't give Ameer much help, which is concerning considering the competition. We'll learn a lot next week. We've looked good beating up on some bad teams (make no mistake, this is a historically bad Fresno team we just pummeled). A win next week tells us we've taken a small step forward. A loss likely means another 4 loss season, when considering the conference isn't impressive.
  16. Fresno ran so many plays, kept the game going and going...
  17. As far as economic GDP is concerned? It's simply mathematically difficult for the United States to remain number 1. China, in terms of population, is just over four times the size of the United States. They can have just 25% of our production per capita, but be equal in terms of overall GDP. America is still by far the world leader in technological innovation and academia. This is far more important than any GDP measure.
  18. Looks like our game against Miami is now going to be aired on ESPN2. It was originally slated to be aired on ABC.

That's more of an indictment on Miami than it is Nebraska...at this point.

No matter what it is, that hurts. Those ABC games are usually the most watched games in the country. Would've been nice to win that game on ABC.

  19. Great post OP. It's not so much our performance today that has husker nation down, but the fact that we're not surprised by the meltdown of our team. This has been the issue for years. Luckily the rest of the conference we're in happens to be horrible, so Nebraska itself isn't the single laughingstock but we're being laughed at along with the rest of the big ten.
  20. The issue is that this has happened over several seasons. We've seen this story before.
  21. The student body tried a 'Can't Be Beat', 'Won't Be Beat' chant/thing a few seasons ago. Is that still happening? It didn't seem that successful at the time.
