  1. +1 Would +2 if possible. This made me laugh way harder than it should of for some reason. I blame the arctic death.
  2. I thought Chris Walker wanted to attempt and stay on the defensive line IIRC. Can't argue the fact he definitely has the frame for an OT.
  3. It's always been fascinating (or depressing) to see what becomes of coaches after they leave Nebraska. I'll have to do a deeper dive but am curious to find out what percentage of coaches get another FBS job after Nebraska. I don't have any data yet and am probably succumbing to recency bias but Nebraska seems to be the pinnacle for coaches more often than not.
  4. Those BGSU teams especially the 2002 team were a lot of fun to watch. The '02 team hung 40+ on almost everyone they played IIRC.
  5. I expected this class to fall into the usual parameters of where Nebraska usually does with a down tick due to the coaching change. Anything more than that would simply be gravy for me. Next year's class the 'regime change' class if you will is where I'll be much more interested. I think it's really hard to come in and just start flipping guys in a short period of time.
  6. Strikes me as a T-Magic 2.0. Incredible athlete and a dynamic runner, however he strikes me as a really mediocre passer. I personally think he should go the Braxton Miller route and change positions as I don't think he's going to be able to hack it as a QB in the NFL.
  7. Agree with @Landlord in regard to his point about TO in the BCS/Playoff years and how it would likely change things. Carriker's article came across like I figured it would being a little homerish. I personally give a slight nod to Saban due to more MNCs. I fully admit to some recency bias as I don't remember much Nebraska football prior to the 1993 season.

Couldn't of said it better Guy. +1 A really good QB is a terrific equalizer. If one of the QBs that is currently on campus takes to Frost's system quickly (minus Vedral since he's out) Nebraska will turn around rapidly. If we continue to struggle at the QB spot, it's going to be pretty difficult.
  9. I know the topic is signature wins, that being said, my favorite Tommy Armstrong game is the Holiday Bowl game v. USC. Coincidentally, I also thought it was Beck's best game as a OC. That USC team had some serious star power...Kessler at QB, Buck Allen at RB, Nelson Agholor at WR. On defense, they had Leonard Williams, Cravens, Adoree Jackson on defense.
  10. Yeah I voted Ganz as well. One of the fun hypotheticals I end up getting into with my friends is whether Nebraska would've won the MNC with Ganz in '09. I think Nebraska would've had a pretty good shot given that Alabama struggled to put away Texas despite knocking Colt McCoy out of the game early. On a side note, that game is still the biggest amount of money I've ever lost betting on a football game. I think Texas was +4 or +4.5 and while I was able to get a little bit back betting Texas in the 2H, I think I might've thrown up after I watched McCoy get knocked out.
  11. Yes, the most recent example that comes to mind is the Oregon CB that was a lock 1st rd pick until he shredded his knee. Let me see if I can find it... EDIT. Found it. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. Came back for his Sr year after being an AA his junior year. Shredded his ACL in practice leading up to the Rose Bowl. Linked his wiki as it also outlines his insurance payouts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ifo_Ekpre-Olomu
  12. Not sure if you're trending towards the hypothetical but if not you and I both know that every guy on a NFL roster isn't necessarily a 1st round talent. Where you and I agree that I inferred from your post is Gates is going to have to work like never before to even have a shot at a cup of coffee on the next level.
  13. I think Stanley's case is pretty cut and dried. If he can run a consistent sub 4.6 forty, he should go pro, if he can't he should stay. I think it's a little unfair but WR is still one of the spots in the NFL that places a high priority on the 40 yd time. Selfishly, I'd like him to stay of course because I think Walters can help him quite a bit with the drops.
  14. It's interesting you bring up Incognito and I just happened to listen to Dirk's podcast he did with him a couple days ago. For all of Richie's faults off the field and being a bit of a punk at times, he's got stupid good feet and is heckuva athlete for being 330. Gates reminds me a lot of Alex Lewis. He has the nasty temperament I think you need in the NFL. It's all going to come down to how he tests. If he does well, I can see him catching on as a G. Folks have pointed out that he got worked by Barnett, well yeah...Barnett was the 14th pick in the draft. Barnett should destroy guys like Gates.
  15. Lots of good points ITT thus far. I'm kinda at the point where I'm not sure what's a bigger crapshoot, coaching staffs or recruits. Odds say you hit about half the time so Nebraska should be due for some positive regression when it comes to the coaching staff part.
  16. No, but there is a Holiday Inn Express kinda near where I live.
  17. RX-7 ftw! Man those cars were awesome!
  18. Josh Allen is in there as well. QB class is super weird this year for the NFL. It wouldn't shock me if Darnold came back for another year for some reason. The combine will be interesting for QBs.
  19. I echo the sentiment of a lot of posters in that I think Lee gets drafted. I can't remember where I heard it but Kyle Shanahan said the only thing you can evaluate with college QBs nowadays is arm talent and the rest is a bit of a guessing game. The great thing for Lee is he has a cannon and I would think he's going to look great in his pro day workouts. It's all going to come down to the system he gets drafted into. If a guy like TJ Yates can gets some run in the NFL, Lee certainly can too.
  20. Ha! The 3rd play on his Hudl reel was great. Haven't seen a guy jump over 2 players too often.
  21. I have no idea on the logistics of it (nor if it's possible) but it would be cool to do this with IWCC. Seems like a win win. IWCC's guys get exposure, Nebraska builds a strong pipeline to IWCC and both teams get a break from beating on each other.
  22. We need speed. Demon speed. Speed's what we need. We need greasy, fast speed.
