  1. Can't go wrong with Breaking Bad. I've been through it 3 times and thinking about having another go at it. Currently been binging on House of Cards on Netflix since Christmas time. It's really good. Didn't think I would like it but got hooked. It's one of those shows where you end up hating almost all of the characters and keep watching in the hopes they will have to pay for all the bad sh#t they do.
  2. I don't follow recruiting too closely usually but has it been particularly dead around here lately? Seems like next to nothing is happening. Kind of concerning?

We'll be fortunate to finish in the Top 25. Not good enough.

I'll bet we finish right around 25 or so. And yes, that's not good enough.

Not good enough.... however considering the record and fan angst that's not terrible.

  3. WowSo, your answer is "worse", it makes you feel worse. Got it. Yes. Worse. Forgot to state the obvious. Have there been lots of people feeling better about our season due to the MSU and Iowa bowl results?Didn't think so...... unless they are simply deluding themselves and desperately trying to put a positive spin on things. See RADAR. I haven't. Has he been banned? He's done. One too many times calling our players stupid.RADAR!!!!For me, I felt better and here is why...I think MSU takes a step back and I think Iowa takes 2-3 steps back, even though Wisconsin won, they lost their DC and I think they take a step back, I think PSU continues to flounder and in the end I think the top 3 teams are OSU, Michigan and NU... So, even though JJ felt I was trolling, I was not. NU is top 3 in the Big Ten and in my book, odds on favorite to win the west next year. So that is why I asked it JJ, you asked how anyone could feel better? That's how. Well that seems to be an honest answer. I had not considered feeling better about Nebraska because of others doing worse. I think it is huge for NU...I don't see the Illini or Purdue getting better...I think NW and Iowa take steps back next year...Like I said with Wisky I think they will really miss their DC. I guess the thing I struggle with is that I really don't understand how we are not already competing for the B1G west division and conference championships. The west division is absolutely as weak as possible now, I do not want to see Nebraska's chance improve due it getting even worse. I just want us to stand up and claim what is already hanging low, waiting to be taken. The last way I want that to happen would be because Iowa (or insert any B1G west team) got even worse. We could've easily done it this year with just a bit of offensive play calling, a shred of pass defense, and qb play that just took care of the ball. 3 simple things that should be expected "givens" at doNU. I think being older and having lived through the glory years makes it impossible for me to look at some of these things the way a younger person, who has only known the mediocrity of Nebraska football may look at them. I guess for that I am sorry for not being able to consider some of these angles that you may take for granted. I want to be good because we're good, not because others are unbelievably bad.

Teach, we all feel worse. The question is, do you feel better? I feel better!! I feel like I saw Nebraska finally play the game I have been waiting to see them play. What MSU and Iowa did really didn't affect me. Well honestly I liked seeing Iowa get exposed.I think most people felt better seeing Nebraska play well in their bowl game. But that wasn't the question teach asked in the OP. If you feel better about Nebraska after seeing MSU (our signature win of the season) get manhandled by Bama or after seeing how far out of their element Iowa was against Stanford even though they handled Nebraska without much effort.......well, I'm not sure what your definition of "better" could possibly be. Any take away other than we still have a very, very long way to go is simply unrealistic. Yeah and Northwestern beat Stanford so they would obviously destroy Iowa right? Or get beat by 30. Sorry to be a smart ass, but to me these games are isolated events. Things change game to game, season to season etc. I don't disgree that we have a lot of work to do but the outcome of these games doesn't mean a whole lot to me as far as the Huskers are concerned. I would agree that the transitive property doesn't work too well for these games and that they are somewhat isolated events. But you have already changed your tune from from feeling better to these games not meaning much to you. I can understand them not meaning much or making a person feel worse but I would need it explained how the results of the MSU or Iowa bowl games could possibly make a Nebraska fan feel better about where we are as a program. I can see feeling a sense of satisfaction at Iowa being exposed but I don't see where that has one thing to do with how anyone should feel about the Huskers. The only possible take away is that we are a long ways away from where any of us would like to be. That cannot possibly be "better" in my book.

  9. Nice troll work OP. How in the f#*k could MSU getting prison raped by the gumps make a Husker fan feel better about our season? How could Iowa getting destroyed make us feel better our season, schadenfreude not withstanding? How could Michigan resurgence under Harbaugh and tOSU continued excellence make a Husker fan feel better about where we are as a program? You just wanted another chance to piss and moan in your usual backdoor, underhanded manner. Good work.
  10. Is anybody on HB pulling for Clemson or Bama? I would really like to see a MSU-OU final.

I'm ok with Clemson taking it all, but I'd much rather see OU, and after that MSU.

  11. Several if not all of the most recent national championship teams in college football had really good run games and (I believe) had more rushing yards on the season than pass yards. 2004 USC is an exception, I believe. Championships really are won on the lines of scrimmage and by running the football, in my opinion. That's where the commitment should be because it's a pretty tried and true method. If you can run the football, play physical and have a good defense, you'll always be in a position to be a really good team. +1 /thread /allthreads
  12. Maybe....... but there is a PILFU still hanging in here.
  13. Guys, we might have to place grandpasknee into the concussion protocol......
  14. We tried to run against Northwestern and it just wasn't happening. I do think part of the failures this season could be attributed to a lack of commitment to the run game when it could've helped us, but we were also pretty woeful at times trying to block. And a big reason we were woeful at blocking at times likely had to do with commitment level. If your game planning and preparation is aimed at passing the ball......well your actual attempts at run blocking and rushing will suffer. This stuff doesn't just fall out of trees, it takes effort, practice, and commitment. I don't think those really existed for us this season until the bowl game. My gut tells me that, if after 30 years, this didn't occur to them sooner than this UCLA game........
  15. I am hopeful the light finally came on for Riley and Langs but that is it. I will actually believe they have a renewed focus on running the ball when I see it next year. Sorry, we got burned way too many times with the offensive (literally) play calling this season. Let's just wait and see what kind of commitment they actually put into being successful at running the ball.
  16. The problem with edibles is you never know which strain they used to make the edibles. Cannabis plants/strains are not all equal. Why is this a problem? The dispensary I visit has strains of Cannabis with THC levels as low as 14% and as high as 25%. Which one is in your brownie? How much of that brownie should you eat at one time? The strain used could be a heavy Indica that turns you into a couch potato or it could be a mild Sativa that is perfect for daytime use, but how do you know? The answer to all these questions is, you just don't know. If you're like me, vaping/smoking allows you to more accurately medicate with strains that actually help me, like Cindy White or Blue Dream. Not sure what state you're in where these things are legal but, here in Colorado, the edibles I have purchased are labeled with indica or sativa and the THC percentage. I only use them for some mild pain, digestion problems, and to sleep better but I have found with the edibles there is not much of a difference in the feeling you get between an indica or sativa. It sure is nowhere near as pronounced as when you smoke it. They also have portion controlled the edibles in Colorado. I believe each "serving" is 10mg of THC. It usually takes me 2 to feel it but often times only 1 accomplishes what I want.
  17. Understood. I think we're pretty much on the same page. As far as possible neck injuries to the tackling player, any force straight on to the face would usually be preferable to any downward or sideways force on the neck. That is all I was trying to get at. Maybe that is also what URSS was trying to say and I may have read it differently.
  18. My point was, all things being equal, seeing what you hit or "heads up" tackling is safer for the tackler than lowering your head or shoulder. Not sure how you read that otherwise. In the case of Gerry's particular hit on this play, I don't see how he could've hit the guy in a better manner. There will always be exceptions and dangers inherent, it is still a contact sport. Sure it would be preferable to keep your head up and also not have to plant your face in the guys chest but that is still better than lowering your shoulder or head.
  19. Unfortunately you couldn't be more wrong. "See what you hit" helps prevent neck injuries. Putting your face into the guys chest is much safer than lowering or turning your head. Gerry's tackle was textbook and saying otherwise is just plain unknowledgeable. Please don't spread this misinformation and if you happen to be responsible for teaching young players how to play the game, it is time for you to retire.
  20. I don't know why Newby had 0 carries in the first quarter. But I do know that our rushing game was more effective due to him having fewer carries and Zig and Cross having more carries. Those guys carried the rock with a purpose. Newby goes down way too easily. The excuse we heard all year was that he was better at pass pro. Piss poor way to select your feature running back imo. Ozigbo, Cross, and Wilbon all run harder. Newby's just a fancy scat back. There are certain types of runs he is suited for. Unfortunately for most of the season, the guys in charge struggled to identify when we needed a bruiser and when we needed some quickness to the outside. Hope the light finally came on for Langs and Riley last night. Our run game productivity was not solely the result of a poor UCLA rush defense.
  21. Where was this offense all year? Where was Ozigbo and Cross all year? Why was Newby the feature back? Just some things I wonder about.

  22. Man the snow really came down tonight. Was inside playing a game with the family and 2 hours later there's about 6 inches of fluffy stuff out there. Now it's blowing and getting cold. Good day to stay inside and watch a certain football game me thinks.

  23. Ok, second greatest Christmas song? Obviously Little Drummer Boy is the best so what does HB have for 2nd best?

  24. It was snowing on the board but apparently it has stopped now. When I first saw it I thought it was from my Clash of Clans game and it had gone rogue and taken over my phone.
