  4. I must add, I am fairly ambivalent about the "need" for a playoff system in CFB. I realize the current and past systems were rife with problems and would not necessarily produce a "true" number one at the end. However, that is one of the primary reasons I like cfb. More than half the fun of it is the ongoing and endless discussions about woulda, coulda, shoulda scenarios. Imo the system does not have to be perfect and flawless at determining a champion. But, if you're going to have a 6 or 8 team playoff, then it should strive to get the best teams in.
  5. I assume this question is being posed hypothetically for some future time when the playoff is not four teams selected by a committee. Imo, there needs to be provisions for getting the top 8 or 16 teams into the playoff. Only considering conference champions would not meet that goal. There have been, are, and likely will always be better 2nd and 3rd place teams in some conferences than there are champions from other conferences.
  6. Rodman wtf? How many people does it take to have someone commtted? He should be well past that point imo.

  10. Shut the f#*k up Musberger. ESPN can go suck a bag of dicks. Not everything has to be about the SEC. Excuse me while I go puke.

Unf'nbelievable over the top bias. It's so disgustingly nauseating. Worst football broadcast ever. CFB is ripe for an up and comer to kick ESecPN to the curb.

  11. I've never heard announcers with so little good to say about a huge play like that ko return. Brent is crying big ole sec tears.

In all fairness, they almost did. Take a knee, go into OT and we could be watching FSU/Alabama lol.

    2. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

Well, he pretty much beat them in the Iron Bowl. Take away some slow gits slacking on the final play, and the generally bad idea of attempting that field goal in the first place, Alabama would have almost certainly won that game.

  14. I like funny, roll with it Bo. One of these for every angry outburst and he'll be just fine.
  15. I hate to see places like this close, but I lived in Lincoln for five years in the early eighties and don't recall ever seeing or hearing about it. I thought I knew about all the dives and greasy spoons- guess not.
  16. If the current team could bring the losing up to that level for three years running, we might be in position for another run. /jk
  17. Bucky, you can be funny sometimes. Did you actually state that "no conference partner of Nebraska won a national championship from 1992 to 1997"? I wonder if that has anything at all to do with Nebraska playing for it 4 of those 6 years and winning it thrice. I'm a little fuzzy on 92 and 96, but I'm guessing our conference partners struggled with Nebraska those years as well. If your point is, Nebraska was so dominate their conference partners didn't have the opportunity, then I get it. But it seemed like you were trying to prop up Bama because they couldn't even dominate their own conference. Seems like a silly point to try to make.
  18. That is terrible. Not one quote from a Nebraska player or coach. Wow. Whoa. That's unbelievable. Georgia lost to Georgia and the rain. Let's see what Georgia players and coaches have to say about Georgia. I read that article twice. I have two questions; did Nebraska even play in the Gator Bowl or did I just imagine we had a game on Wednesday? And, would Georgia have still lost if there was no opponent? According to this article Nebraska was not involved in any way, shape, or form and Georgia would have lost facing no opponent but themselves. Unbelievable and terrible but unfortunately par for the course with ESecPN. edit- JTrain, that may well be just an AP article but it is posted on the ESPN site. That makes them culpable for the content (or in this case, lack of content) no matter how or why it ended up there. And, to be more clear, I am not claiming any conspiracy against Nebraska by ESPN. What I am claiming is an unnatural pro SEC bias by ESPN. I do not think that can even begin to be denied.
  19. Excellent post. +1 These are the 3 main (and possibly only issues) that simply must be addressed. I am absolutely fine with keeping this staff intact (even Beck) if they make some serious effort at these 3 things. Special teams has to become a positive (or at a bare minimum not a liability). I get the feeling that the punt return is more of a philosophical/scheme decision by Bo than the special teams coach. I have trouble believing Bo would put up with this lack of result/execution against his will. But, a new unit leader should be expected in this area because it has been so poor. Offensive play calling has also been troubling at times. I think Beck has the ability to dial up some good plays but I just don't think he can manage a game from beginning to end. There is little flow and setup and too much haphazard throw sh#t against the wall and see if it works. Maybe he'll get better with more experience, but I doubt it. At the very least, I hope Bo gets Beck some help in this regard or that somebody better takes more of an active role. I would like to see Beck replaced with a real OC, I just don't see Bo doing it though. I expect defensive play calling will get more aggressive, which would be a good thing. It has to be as easy for Bo to see, as it is for most of us, that these guys do much better in a proactive attack mode than they do in, as True calls it "pretty princess patty cake patty cake pressure package". With the skill we should have in our front 7 next season, Bo has simply got to unleash the beast in these guys. It will be interesting to see if he can evolve to a more attacking defense from his more favored bend but don't break philosophy. Eliminating the us against them attitude should be self explanatory. The very small number of fans and media members this might actually apply to as "them" is so small and inconsequential that Bo and the players should adopt an ignore them attitude instead of giving credibility to a minority movement that is undeserving of their attention. As I review all 3-4 of these issues, it becomes clear that the only hurdle is Bo's willingness and philosophy. If he begins to evolve and change, he could stick around and be successful for a long time. If he doesn't see the need or feel compelled to address these things, I and many others won't "miss him when he's f'ing gone".
  20. Pleasantly surprised by the performance of all B1G teams today. Each appeared to be over matched, grossly so in some instances, yet all have repped well. I almost can't believe it.

This conference is rising and the rest of the nation is quickly closing the gap on the SEC.

Bad day for my donkey bowl pool picks but a good day for my team and our conference. I can live with that.
