  1. I agree. Frost needs to get things on track next year or it could possibly be his last so I can't imagine wholesale changes. With that in mind I see tweaks to what is already in place. Changing the O to an entirely new system would require more time than I believe HCSF has available. You can keep the terminology but still make a lot of meaningful changes. Just IMHO.
  2. There is plenty of hate in the state of Nebraska to go around. So if you get a good hate fest going for Forde there will still be plenty leftover for Frost, Frost haters, the media, Trev or ________*. * You can fill in the blank with whoever you choose to hate today!
  3. Beyond that, think of the field day ALL the opposing recruiters would have with it. So you're thinking about committing to NU son, let me show you some of the emails your new coach sent and what he really thinks about you.
  4. One thing I think is becoming very clear. We made a grand slam - out of the park hire with Trev. While I was in the get rid of him camp, what they came up with is a very workable solution that I didn't think would ever happen but will stand behind 100%. Trev's candor and forthcoming statements are so refreshing to see. I feel confident, whether this works out or not, we are in good hands with Trev as AD - Finally.
  5. Depends on who returns but with the much less demanding schedule I'm hoping for 5-7 next. Should be enough to ensure HCSF returns for year six.
  6. I'd have been happy with a single .500 season in his first 4 years.
  7. Frost will be back with an extension and will get at least 2 more years regardless of his record. Everybody stays. AM will be QB (since we have nobody else capable of playing D1 ball). Expect the same level of play from the team & AM we've seen the first 4 years. Oh joy
  8. 2 out of 13 (15%) third down conversions ain't gonna cut it if you expect to win.
  9. Great reason to retain a failed staff. And that "easy" schedule next year includes all of the usual B1G west suspects that have been kicking NU's a$$ the last 4 years. Plus, with the talent we are losing I see next year as another struggle to get to a bowl if Frost is retained.
  10. I guessing he'll be back too even if they go 3-9 (15-29). Probably with an extension and a raise. Sure wish I could have performed my job at that level without fear of being dismissed and richly rewarded for it.
  11. As many problems as Martinez has they don't have anybody to replace him. I've read people that have seen practices describe Smothers as McCaffrey v2.0. Regardless if Frost stays or we have somebody new coaching they need to hit the portal hard to find a quality QB which is probably easier said than done.
  12. Interesting in depth read on Trev's upcoming decision from ShortSideOption at Herbie's Hangout. Trev’s Big Decision 2.0
  13. This pretty much is in line with what a lot of us have been speculating the past few weeks. These next 3 games will be make or break for year five for HCSF. 0-3 - Would not be good. 1-2 - On the fence. Play hard and keep the 2 losses close - OK. Fall apart with 2 bad losses - Hmm. 2-1 - Betting he'll be here next year. 3-0 - Woo Hoo, were going bowling finally.
  14. Win just 2 out of 3 of those winnable games and we wouldn't be having these endless threads about how good we are even though we've only won 3 games. And the this season isn't a one-off anomaly. It has happened consistently every season since HCSF took over the program. Just a quick look at the tweet of indisputable facts by John M. Bishop from a couple of weeks ago shows how pathetic things have become and with the loss to Purdue things are even worse than that post show.
  15. Nope. You're forgetting that year 5 is year 3 and Saban went 7-6 his first season with the Crimson Tide. Geez.
  16. You mean like how all the coaches who have been dismissed since TO was here have gone on to lead their new schools to greatness, basking in national championships?
  17. When you are getting your a$$ kicked by teams like Ill, Minn & Purdue who are the "easier" teams on your schedule it's hard to get too excited about how much better next year will be. Four years of the same crap with a 36.4% winning percentage, I've seen enough.
  18. Right. $5M+ Salary Top notch facilities when current project is completed Rabid fan base that still fills the 85k+ stadium every game even with 6 losing seasons the last 7 years Full support of AD to be successful 11th nationally in recruiting spending which could be higher So I guess no coach would come here with all that working against him. LOL
  19. You never know how this team will respond. Up to now they've played to the level of their opponents but after Saturday I worry they may have checked out for the rest of the season. With HCSF not even addressing the team following the game I wonder how this is all going to play out. Won't be at all surprised at a blowout with OSU hanging in the neighborhood of 50 on us.
  20. 4-8 is now the level of the bar to retain a coach who would then end up 16-28 (36.4%) through 4 years? My, how times have changed. Pathetic.
  21. I like the way you think. But what is this identity you speak of? Something I haven't been familiar for about 2 decades or so. Actually we do have an identity. Finding ways to lose just about every week. I've heard Monken has indicated he runs the triple option because he is at a service academy but if he were at a regular school while he would keep elements of the option he would also incorporate a more modern offense. But would have to believe it would still be a power based game. But I agree entirely about competing with OSU, PSU, Mich etc. for the elite players needed to run an offense like HCSF runs. I don't see us ever competing and constantly winning recruiting battles with them or most of the other P5 schools that will be going after them.
  22. Both Calhoun & Monken intrigue me. They have done well at service academies without a wealth of talent. And they are certainly well versed in running the ball which would make a lot of people happy and be a fit for the B1G.
