Actually, what you left out of your argument is that we completely base changed our defense under Riley and it’s still carried over for a lot of our recruits. Stille was originally a 4-3 end, the Davis brothers were and still are 4-3 DTs.

To add on to the DL.. They do not stay low enough and seem to not know how to redirect or be physical with their arms. Also, the twins lack size in their arms and speed to beat tackles.

I think that’s why they’re recruiting guys that can handle a mixture of both. I do agree that I see a lot of Davis and Tannor double dipping in what they are asked to do.

I think they’re recruiting guys that have the flexibility to play inside and out as well. Groce was a little more one dimensional in that sense. We need OLB’s that can pass rush and drop into coverage. Right now it seems like we’ve been transitioning a lot of HS DE’s who have probably only ever been asked to spy or read a screen pass.

We aren’t greyshirting 4-5 star players, with a hungry 4-5 star player ready to backup anyone who isn’t pulling their own weight.

Sorry that group 5 team has 5 first round picks in the last 10 years, and multiple nfl pro bowlers. Just because they’re group 5 doesn’t mean they’re poor at evaluating talent. In all honesty, Frost is still flipping the roster and we need highly ranked recruits as well as the underrated talent, or under-recruited talent with a chip and something to prove.
