    Does anyone know where you can find morrell mushrooms around the Omaha area?  When I was a kid we would go mushroom hunting all the time in the Spring. They are delicious when deep fried and served with homemade onion rings made from Vidallia onions.

      @Savage Husker Here in NW Montana, people guard their morrell patches and huckleberry patches with cameras and guard dogs. More than once you'll think you've come across a nice spot to pick and a suddenly a guy with a shot gun will be asking you to kindly leave the area.

      @ladyhawkeGrandma used to fry them with a little batter in bacon grease and then we'd have Heinz 57 sauce to dip them in, I really miss those day.  Those darn things went fast and were so good.

      I know there's lots of morels in places along the Platte River.  Or at least there was when I was in college.
