  1. Why do you have to be so damn negative on anyone that posts something YOU don't like? How about trying something new...like going on to a post that you do like, usually a HOMER that thinks nobodys stuff stinks even when it does, just because they are on the football team or affilieated with it? It is people like you that have made me stop coming on here. I know stink when I smell it, and I am smelling it...not only with you, but with where this football team is. If you don't like it, too damn bad.
  2. Nebraska pretty much did it to themselves the first half, it wasn't so much as what Wisconsin could do to them. I think if they can wrap their heads around playing more consistently, they have a good shot at winning their division. They need a lot of improvement, but that will come as the season passes. Next week will be another good test, and if they can play that whole game like they played the 2nd half tonight, it will go a long way towards building the confidence that they can win the Big Ten. One thing I am impressed by is the penalties have dropped significantly from what we were getting last season, and that helps a bunch.
  3. LOL! Just a little bit on the defensive side, but I can understand that. The press has no love for him, especially the national press.
  4. I have a feeling that you will be disapointed if you are trying to listen to Nebraska sports on those apps, I know last year it was impossible because of licensing agreements they had with the university on an app that I tried to listen to KLIN. Even the talk shows were blocked. Hope that something has changed since then, but I doubt it.
  5. Says the guy with 1,500 posts on this site alone. Yes, attrition happens everywhere. I started a topic on this just one month ago. Amen! But he makes a good point...there is life after football. Barely, but there is.
  6. Nebraska always plays to the level of their opponents the first part of the season, so not sure how they get 17.5 points. Seems the coaching staff keeps it pretty basic to start the season, I would say if that were to happen, it would be a good sign of things to come, because I would say that if we were that far up we would get to play the backups, which is something that we really haven't gotten to do that much of in the past few seasons.
  7. It would be nice to see more running than passing, but I have a feeling that we will have to pass to keep up. BUT this is a new year...optimism runs wild. I would love it if we actually had two running backs that could carry the load this year, and cut the passing down a little. I hate passing because we have to. I am saying my prayers that the O-line has improved, otherwise this could be another season that will depend on how healthy we can keep Martinez.. On the bright side, I think he has probably gotten smarter about when to run, and when to take the loss. It would be awesome if they can come out and surprise everyone by actually controlling the game. The question this year is will the defense or the offense be the dominant force? I tend to believe that it may be another year for the offense, though it is easier to put together a defense if you have people with natural talent. There is reason for optimism, maybe we will get both. That is what it will take to win the Big X.
  8. Why do I have a feeling that this project will only cater to people that can afford club seats? Any expansion is a good thing, and I don't see a problem selling the tickets, as there is a long waiting list. The question I think that bothers everyone is the sell-out streak, and can it survive a couple of bad seasons? Personally I think that streak is a little over-rated.
  9. Why not? They are making the schools a ton of money.
  10. Give me a friggin' break!! If I was a player I would look forward to having the opportunity to play that Spring game and organize my life around that one event in the spring to prove what I had...kind of like showing up for practice. It is expected of you. This team is being coddled to the point of making me personally ill. Ok, let the flaming begin...I don't care, I am sick of watching sub-par play year after year, with them having the attitude that we should be grateful for it. Nebraska fans expect championship caliber play...we have not gotten even a conference in years. It's bad enough to hear the excuses for this team from the people on this board that believe that the coaching staff and players cannot do any wrong, but when the coaching staff is making excuses not to have a game because some of the players have "family issues"....give me a break...they have gone too far. This team is not good enough to rest on it's laurels...they rank outside even the top 50 in a lot of catagories in the NCAA. They have a lot of room for improvement, and shouild be taking every opportunity to find that improvement. Can you imagine Lombardi or Devaney saying something like what Bo said? NOT!! Coaches are supposed to push players to be their best, even if it means being hard on them, not making excuses and coddling them. Heck, lets all just go down to one of the bars down town guys and sit around and brag about how much better they are than the championship teams from the past decades, why bother even showing up to prove it on the field? Grow up!! Either play ball or go home and be coddled by your parents. NO MORE EXCUSES!!
  11. Don't think he would end up playing for Carl, but if Carnes isn't at least #2, I would no be surprised to see him looking to transfer out. Who ever the #2 is, I hope they get more playing time than anyone other than Martinez got last season. I don't like living on the edge of a razor, hoping your starter don't go down because there is nobody with experience behind him. And that is where we have been the last few years. Sooner or later it is coming back to bite us hard.
  12. This lack of having a real center to play center may be the undoing of this offensive line this season if someone don't step up and take on the job, and do it well. I am not sure you can play in the Big Ten and not have a very good center.
  13. Yeah, that'll be pretty weird for Carl. And a bit painful and humiliating. I hope little brother puts the hurt on Carl's Owls. I'm betting Bo has mercy on Carl. I doubt we win by more than 3 TDs. 31-10 or something like that, with the backup QB FINALLY getting some reps. I think the Huskers better show up to show their stuff. These are the "gotcha games" that can cost you a NC before the season really every gets started. They are also the games that they need to dominate in a big way to be ready for the season that is ahead. Taking anyone lightly anymore can be a mistake. And looking at the stats for the past few years for the offense and the defense, they have a ways to go before they can "take a day off".
  14. It was worth leaving the B12, just to get away from those prima donnas in Texass. They think their crap don't stink, and that they are the whole reason the B12 exists, and that they should be able to dictate to everyone else in the conference. I will root for anyone that is playing Texass...I had grown to hate them more than I ever hated Colorado. I will however miss the rivalry with Oklahoma, but then they screwed that up with the B12's schedule when we didn't get to play them every year. Looking back, the higher ups at Nebraska was foolish to ever agree to the B12 replacing the Big 8. We would have been so much better off without the Texas teams, and expecially Texass.
  15. The coaching staff at Nebraska are never looking for a "real" QB, they just want a good athlete that they can plug in. I have given up on any hope that we will ever have another QB that is actually drafted by the NFL as a QB. I had that hope with the promises that BC brought with him and how he was going to change the offense, but it never happened then. And now with what I see this coaching staff doing with the position of QB, I don't see it happening with a Pelini OC again.
  16. It will be a while before we see a lot of these guys, if we ever see some of them.
  17. If I was an OL that could choose anywhere I wanted to go, there is no way that I would come to Nebraska with the lack of improvement it has shown on the OL. I do not hide the fact that I do not like Barney Cotton. He has done nothing to improve this OL in the last several years. Every year, it is the same thing, or worse.
  18. Officer: What happened here? Bo: What do you think? You tell me. We all saw what happened. Officer: Actually, I... Bo: I just didn't execute. I give the other driver all the credit in the world. Officer: Is everyone ok? Bo: We'll be fine....we'll be just fine. Officer: Are you sure? Bo: I just need to focus on the "process" next time. Priceless....
  19. I always go into signing day hopeful. This late addition, Alexander, could be a problem, what we don't need is someone that is going to have problems off the field. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I hope he comes with the right attitude, is serious about academics and football, and does well with the Huskers. I am sure the coaches have had long talks with him, and he knows what is expected, and comes to prove any critics wrong. We won't really know what we have until probably the start of next season, then it will be clear who the potential stars are, and who may take some development, and who will take a lot of development or be long shots. This is the same every year, no matter how many stars they have behind their names. Kind of like playing the lottery.
  20. Burkhead will continue to show what a great player he is, and improve his stock in the NFL draft. I think the defense will be better next season also, especially up front. The coverage this past year wasn't that bad, we just need more pressure up front. At times this past season they showed signs of being pretty good. Other times...not so much. Hopefully something will inspire the offensive line to revert back to the days of old, when the OL was a force to reckon with. I think at this point the problem is more with coaching, and the lack of attitude. They tried to show some attitude in the game against SC, but then unfortunately couldn't back it up. But I did like the fact that they did a decent job the 1st half, and maybe felt a little confidence. Hopefully that confidence will be back...along with the ability to back it up. I think the special teams will be better this year. Kicking is not a problem, and hopefully the coverage team will improve, as well as the return team's blocking. I think the 2nd half adjustments will be better than they were at times this past year. That has always been a strong point at Nebraska. It does help to also have the conditioning program that we do, and have more left in the tank come the 4th Qtr. And finally, I think Bo will mature a little more, and we won't see the emotional displays on the sideline so much. I am tired of travelling around the country and having to hear the comments. I really don't think it is as bad as the media would like the rest of the country to believe, but convincing the rest of the country means that Bo can't give them fodor through a 5 second piece of video. Unfortunately, everyone is looking for the meltdowns on the sidelines. Would love to see a 10 win season going into the B1G Championship game. That is going to take a lot of work, but who knows...this is supposed to be positive.
  21. Would love to see Carnes or Turner step up and make a real statement saying that they are ready to challenge and bench Martinez. Would also like to see a young back show something so that we know we have one other than Burkhead, since we really don't see anything in the running game other than Martinez and Burkhead. Hard to really evaluate a lot during the spring game though, since they don't really get to get that physical since they don't want the injuries. I know Bo says they are going to go 100%, but I know it is probably more like 80% when it comes to getting physical. Especially with those darn green jerseys that the QB wear.
  22. I think they need to close in the corners, and build new levels on the south and north ends, making it more of a bowl appearance. This could also cut down on some of the wind near those gaps. I have sat over there in the NW corner when it is windy, wet, and cold, and it is no picnic. The only place that I found is worse than that is Arrowhead in KC, where the wind comes in between the decks, and if your sitting there your going to feel the full effect of it. No fun when the temps are below zero.
  23. Not really, he is one of the major cogs. I don't think we will be a Top 5 contender with him as QB, especially when the running game is Burkhead or none. This offense as a whole has a lot of problems, starting with coaching. The O-line is deplorable in Nebraska standards. Then when you throw in where the defense is, it isn't pretty, no matter how much lipstick you put on that pig. Just look at the numbers, where they ranked in all the breakdowns. That says it all.
  24. Never have figured out why anyone puts much stock into what Jason Peter has to say, or why they think he is some kind of expert just because he played for Nebraska, then had the issues that he did afterwards... But, IMHO what he said on this particular tweet might hold a little water.
