  1. Good news is the team is in control of their own destiny. Nothing has really changed with the Illinois loss IMO. Still going to have to win a game or two in the Big 10 tournament.
  2. I think most years, 9 wins should be achievable at Nebraska due to schedule alone. Most years is the key word. Unfortunately this year we cross divisions are @Michigan, @Ohio State, Michigan State, mixed in with every tough conference opponent on the road. That's probably the toughest draw we have had based on recent years. Sept. 1, 2018 Akron Home WIN Sept. 8, 2018 Colorado Home WIN Sept. 15, 2018 Troy Home WIN Sept. 22, 2018 Michigan Away LOSS Sept. 29, 2018 Purdue Home WIN Oct. 6, 2018 Wisconsin Away LOSS Oct. 13, 2018 Northwestern Away TOSS UP Oct. 20, 2018 Minnesota Home WIN Nov. 3, 2018 Ohio State Away LOSS Nov. 10, 2018 Illinois Home WIN Nov. 17, 2018 Michigan State Home TOSS UP Nov. 23, 2018 Iowa TOSS UP So I'll give us 6 wins, I think that is generous based on last year. I don't see how they win MICH, OSU, or WISC, and don't think you can put any of those as a toss up. So really I think max ceiling this year is 9 wins. And that is winning every "toss up" game and being generous with should win games. That's max potential this year based on last year's results and this years schedule, and I would be pumped if we finished 9-3. Is that apathy? Or is that just really taking a look at where we at as a program, our future schedule, a crap ton of unknowns, and being semi-realistic. Doesn't mean I'm not excited for the season, just too many variables this year to really expect a championship caliber season.
  3. Yeah looks like this is on ESPN2. Hopefully not as awkward as the Copeland signing with mom storming out after he announced.
  4. Well that sucks. Definitely would have been a nice 1-2 with JJB and Tannor.
  5. Man, Nebraska could have saved $375,000 a year and just posted on Huskerboard asking for a work out program for the football team. I didn't realize how many experts there were in running a S&C program at a Major D1 college.program. I knew this place was full of expert level head coaches (myself included). This truly is the best board on the Internet.
  6. I've spent too much time trying to figure out what this even means. How does going to Texas defy the odds of being born 18 years ago? So many questions, so little answers.
  7. Living here in KC and have a co-worker with pretty good connections at the LSW football program. Kids all played football there and know Mario. He had told me way before Mario officially decommitted that Mario was already decomitted. This was before any staff change or the season really started to go south. I don't think Mario was ever coming here, probably better we knew about it earlier rather than being really late in the cycle. It just seems like NU was a holder until something better came along. Seems like a great talent, would love to see him here especially being a local kid.
  8. Maybe I just don't pay attention to other program's kickers, but I feel like Nebraska has had an incredible run of great kickers come through the program.
  9. I think this list shows that last year was absolute rock bottom for this program. No disrespect to Drew Brown at all and losing such a reliable kicker is going to hurt more than we think, but the fact that he is the top of the list is pretty telling.
  10. Was at this game, and it was awesome. That was T-Marts coming out party and got the Heisman hype train rolling which is hard to fathom looking back at how it eventually unfolded.
  11. Just wanted to check in and see if the player's were working harder than they ever have and are in the best shape of their lives yet? I think we saw this same work effort and improvement in both 2007 and 2014 as well. I'm hopeful the new S&C coach can yield similar player sentiments this time around.
  12. The situation that Riley is coming into is much different than Frost. Riley took over a program that had won 9+ games 6 or 7 years in a row. It wasn't supposed to be a rebuild, but Riley found a way to burn it all down. Frost is now taking over a dumpster fire. I truly believe if we hired Frost instead of Riley, we don't lose a beat and continue winning 9 games a year with Tommy Armstrong manning the helm. With that said, the 2018 schedule is tough. Combine that with a whole new system being implemented, I don't think it is reasonable to expect much in year one outside beating the teams we are supposed to, and maybe stealing a few toss ups. I hope the fan base can be patient, and I don't see why they wont. We found our floor, and only expect us to trend up from here. What that trend looks like, I have no idea, but it can't be any worse than the past 3 years.
  13. This is a really bad take. No, Riley did not make football fun again at Nebraska. There is no further need to debate this and this thread should be locked. Riley is going to be paid 170K a month for 3 years do nothing, I think he will be fine.
  14. If you aren't pumped for the future after watching that, you need to find a new team.
  15. Looking back on this season, I think we are all going to miss the TE shifts presnap for a run up the gut for 0 - 1 yard gain every first down on offense.
  16. Because we are not complete lunatics, only about 50% crazy.
  17. I agree with this. Isn't it nuts that this is how we decide a national championship? Let's take a month off then go ahead and play a game to decides who is the champ.
  18. What!? No Penn State on the road, weak schedule. Seriously though, anyone looking at that schedule that doesn't think that is a buzz saw is crazy. Here is Iowa's schedule for 2018, same Iowa team that just put a 40 point whooping on us at home. NIU @Iowa State Northern Iowa Wisconsin @Minn @Indiana Maryland @Penn Satate @Purdue Northwestern @Illinois NU Their cross divisions are @Penn State (tough), and then @Indiana and Maryland. We drew @Michigan, @Ohio State, and Michigan state. 3 or 4 best teams of the East division and 2 of them on the road. Plus we are @wisconsin and @iowa. This schedule sucks and is indicative of the crap schedules we have had since joining the Big 10. This is going to be a tough year 1 for whomever we hire trying to implement a new system with probably a new quarterback. Patience is going to be the word of the season.
  19. Wowzers, strong finish there. Serious question though, would that be end of the "regular" season or through the bowl season as well? I can't imagine we would wait until after the new year to hire a coach.
  20. Why even wait till after the game at this point, just announce it. At least make everyone happy before they leave the game.
  21. I don't think Nebraska could beat Kansas right now. 8 minutes left. Moos better be running onto the field as the clock expires handing Riley his pink slip.
  22. Haven't watched any of the game. Has Riley been fired yet or are they waiting for after the game?
