  1. Still waiting for that Suh effect to actually kick in. We've been disappointed in so many of the "big time" DT prospects we've been in on since the big man left. Here's hoping one of VV, Curry, Williams, Collins or Maurice find a way to pan out. If someone could light a butt under VV and get him to play every play angry, it sounds like he could be a terror. Curry could surprise. Bummed Williams tore up his knee last year-- we were hearing good things. And obviously Collins and Maurice are total unknowns at this point, but both hold a great deal of promise. Looking back, it seems the "under the radar" DT commits we've gotten have picked up steam after committing and could be pretty damn good.
  2. Stopped in to 11 Worth Cafe for brunch today after church... WOW. If you live in Omaha and you haven't been there, do yourself a favor and stop in sometime.

  3. In their respective classes, Braylon Heard was ranked ahead of Aaron Green. Braylon was the 50th best player in his class, or something around that, according to rankings if I recall correctly. Just an FYI. 57th, he was the 5th best RB, while Green was ranked 61st and was the 8th best RB in his class. But if you break down their offers, which I look at when people say highly recruited, Green had 26 offers while Heard had 12. The only big name teams that offered Heard was Nebraska, Cincinatti, West Virgina, Penn St. Pittsburgh, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State. vs Green who was offered by Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida St. Baylor, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Okie St. Notre Dame, North Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, USC. Somewhat of a moot point because Heard was a known academic risk, but still a valid point nonetheless.
  4. And in other news, Kentucky is your new #1 in Rivals FOOTBALL recruiting rankings.

Are you kidding? Give the kids the ol' "Look how much we suck, that's why you'll play Day 1" pitch and they'll all stay. Cash doesn't hurt either.

  5. He's got to wind up in Lincoln right? This kid was the best player left on the board according to MLB.com's rankings pretty much all day today. He was projected to go in the top 10 rounds I'd think. Whether it be the knee injury or what, something caused his stock to take a nosedive. If he comes to campus you'd have to think he'd boost his stock and be able to get drafted higher in 3 years. Nice to get this talent boost!
  6. I'm just kind of glancing through this thread. Looks like some sh*t hit the fan. Loving it in the dog days of summer. This reply makes good sense though. Allowing this out to be public knowledge is an intriguing motivational technique, if indeed that is what Mitchell is going for. It's one thing to have an upperclassman tell you to get your butt in gear when it's just the two of you. It's a totally different situation if everyone knows about it.
  7. Holly hell... Some time passes and you forget just HOW mediocre that last Cally team was. NEVER AGAIN! Neat chart Nuance. +1'd. Obviously our turnover problems have a lot to do with running a spread attack with a dual threat QB who's always been slightly fumble prone (but seems to be improving). The fumbles that are REALLY concerning to me and we absolutely need to get rid of are on the punts. Not only do they give away a possession but they're a total waste of field position as well. I was just discussing with my buddy yesterday... DO you remember the last time we blocked a kick? A punt? Or really walloped someone on coverage teams? Special teams (other than FG kicking, which has largely been, well, actually special under Bo) have seemed to have become of secondary importance to Bo's teams. Granted, they have of other glaring issues to worry about right now. But the ball security on returns is one of the most important IMO and it makes me sad we aren't drilling harder for a very overlooked 1/3 of the game that could potentially help put these teams that need the extra boost over the top.
  8. Suzy Kolber... "Dion, you had to wait and wait and wait and then the Phone FINALLY rang..." Yeah, he had to wait two picks. This is why I hate ESPN. They try to sensationalize everything.

I didn't know until after my Eagles picked that NFL network was streaming online. When I tried it right away I get some weird 2nd tiered NFLN guys instead of their regular crew. DEF prefer them.

Your crazy man. If you've played the game and are into the real technical stuff he's awesome.

  9. I think he was thinking more along the lines of a one Mr. Vick...

That was a nice win for Jake. Hendricks/Condit was amazing!

  11. You know how we tempted Knevel into signing with that giant cookie? Let's work that same magic on this kid. Only with a cheeseburger. Or a couple hundred of em. 6'1" 160 is a wee bit twiggy.
  12. Good to know. Thanks for the update. Cmon Dorn, get in front of the ball. Don't give me this ole bullsh*t!
  13. ? Leverson would of been really good, but had some off the field issues.
  14. Interesting news on the 1s and 2s man... Thanks. That situation will definitely bear watching as the spring and summer play out. I know seem REALLY high on Rose at S saying he should start right away, and obviously CJax just has that swagger that would seem to make him an ideal safety, so I'm very interested in seeing if HJax and Cooper can find a way to hold onto their starting spots. Then again, could just be the old MO of giving the most experienced guys the leg up initially...
  15. Well, looks like THIS guy is going to Maroon 5 tomorrow night. The things we do for women... -_-

  16. No problem. I was thinking of a way to say it so I wasn't quoting it word by word. Figured it out this morning. I like to sleep on my problems too before I confront them... Use that methodology with your exes?
  17. AND.... Cue Big 10 Championship game film.
  18. Holy #$%^ ... That is not the offer of a 3 star recruit!
  19. Not sure where you're getting your math from bro. 13/33 = 39% Yeah, 39%...my bad. Must have hit a wrong number and didn't catch it. Thanks! No problem big guy. I've got your back! #nerdfriends

  21. This is TOO perfect. Forget Snoop's kid, I want Nate Dogg's!
  22. I read much less into your reply than this. I assumed you were talking about slotting Baker at DT instead of OT. Still think we went the wrong way on that one. All conference type of DT (kind of), All American OL.
  23. I don't think it is a fair question yet. We need a few cycles of "highly rated" OL to come and go in order to churn them out all the time. Competition breeds dominance. We are on the right track with this class. I suppose we'll wait and see. I agree I think we're moving in the right direction. This whole argument becomes one giant moot point though if Cotton has been removed of his OL responsibilities. I think the move really gives us the best of both worlds, because Barney excels in a big way at getting a very strong running game going. Hopefully Garrison and whoever else assists (Stai??) can be more successful at perfecting technique, improving pass pro, and overall cultivating more highly drafted lineman. It probably is too early to judge our returns on the OL in the program. However, of the kids we have had, ARod, Moore, and Klachko can now be considered busts, and though Yoshi turned into a very good lineman during his senior year, he was still undrafted. That's four four star OL who haven't panned out, though at least Yoshi was successful for a year for us.
