  1. I was really suprised to see that Jack Fordon did not make the 105. Does anyone know his status. Is he here right now? Injured?
  2. Thanks Mavric, but really though, I don't wan't to seem ungrateful but couldn't you get me a 70 point blowout rather than just a little old victory over Wyoming?
  3. Don't worry guys. My birthday is Aug. 30th and i have requested no other presents so Newell's commitment is not too much to ask. And my fantasy draft is that night and I am going to dominate and the Huskers play the next day so the stars are really aligning here.
  4. Yeah I think we didn't realize how good Stew actually was until he was gone in 2007. Then we got EXPOSED big time. Bradley was staying on the field (as a SLB) most of the time when the offense had 3 WR on the field. When Cosgrove tried that with different personell in 2007 it was painful. And he never changed it up.
  5. Yep. With all this exitement over all of our other LB's his name kind of gets lost in the shuffle, but he may be the best of all of them.
  6. It's very hard to compare across eras and assess a guys talents in respect to the entire defense around him... but N. Suh R. Glover (I have to go off of what I have heard said of him) G. Wistrom M. Brown L. David N. Smith T. Alberts R. Brown
  7. Is anyone else suprised that D.J. Singleton's name isn't mentioned here? I assumed he would be right in the mix after being here for the spring, but maybe a redshirt is in store for him.
  8. You reallize that Phillips would have shattered the most yards in a game record if he wasn't done playing early in the 3rd quarter of most of his games right? He also never had to complain about sharing the ball because he was so good he didn't have to say anything and there was no one who could stand toe to toe with him. And go read what his teammates have said about him. They say he was an excellent teammate. And in 95 had he not been suspended he would have easily rushed for over 2,000 yards and as someone else said, he would be our 4th Heisman trophy winner, he was that good. Calvin was a stud but Phillips was a Triple Crown winner.
  9. Before seeing what the Niners did with Kaepernick i would've said no way about Martinez. Now I'm not so sure. I'm a Niners fan and I thought that he had absolutely no business being out there as a pro QB. Is Kaepernick the most polished QB in the league? Not by far, but he brings a skill set to the table that really opens things up for him. Now I'm not saying Martinez is anywhere near where Kaepernick is as a QB but I sure as hell don't think Kaepernick was that much ahead of where Martinez is while he was in college.
  10. Yeah I agree, kind of a mystery. And don't forget Crick. I think we are on the upswing in our D-line recruiting right now, but we are paying for those few bad years right now.
  11. Watching film of these guys who committed the last few years it is very apparent. Go compare highlights of Compton, Fischer, Whaley, Rome, Meridith, Smith etc.in high school compared to guys like Santos, Anderson, Afalava, Banderas, Newby, Gregory, McMullen.Cooper, Jackson. Not to mention the speed of the Freshman safeties we've brought in, although how much they see the field remains to be seen. My eye is somewhat untrained, but it doesn't take long to see the difference (I think it is that big of a leap forward). Nate Gerry. I dont know why, but I've never been so jacked up to see a particular young man enter the program. So many are excited bout the likes of Newby, Adam Taylor, and Johnny Stanton. But for me, Nate Gerry is who I am really excited to see. Just reminds me so much of Matt O'Hanlon, and we could use a missil like that out of the secondary against these more balanced Big10 offenses. Yeah I agree. Only O'Hanlon was able to overcome his lack of prototypical size. Gerry is just a beast. The sky is the limit for this kid with his work ethic and mental aptitude.
  12. I think Bo got more out of what he had last year than what most coaches could have. We have the record we have because of the coaching. Sure, we shouldn't have blowout losses, but what do you expect when you don't have speed on defense? Bo's first year of recruiting caught up to him. The only way to recruit better, is to show you can coach. This is something he has and is doing. Almost every guy we have put in the NFL under Bo is a starter on defense. David, Dennard, Amukamara and Suh to name a few. Winning helps a lot, but its a lot harder to balance a team like your speaking of when your a first time HC at NEBRASKA. A program that had no stability and hasn't won a conference championship since '99. We will win one soon, really soon. Its only time that Bo puts this team right where he wants. We have depth at offense, and we will eventually get up there on defense. It will take a couple more years of solid recruiting, like we have had, to be balanced. I love this program and I have been a fan since I could remember. The reality is, Nebraska is a state that not many people outside the Midwest know of. Many big recruits have been recorded saying that Lincoln is a hick town with very little to do and is surrounded by corn. This is what recruiters from other schools thrive off of telling them. They believe it, until they take that visit here. If/When we can get the visit, it becomes a very difficult decision for the recruits from there. This is the part I don't get, we were recruiting players when we were in the pass happy Big 12 that year? Why would we not have the speedy LB's and Safeties necessary to contain edges? The recruits sucked. Thats the issue. Obviously the recruiting wasn't up to standard but we simply were not targeting very many LBs. We played with 6 dbs most of the time in our final two years in the Big 12. And as we all know we are pretty well stocked up at DB this year. So to me the only place where we really dropped the ball was DL.
  13. It is really hard to gauge this kid as a DT when you are seeing him at LB but man is he atheletic. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be a great DT, but it will certainly take some adjustment. You would think that he would want to get a jump start on learning that technique before he hits college but maybe he is just having fun doing what he's doing.
  14. He's got offers from just about all the big boys so you have to think they all think his frame is good and he will fill out nicely. I'm not going to get my hopes up for a LA DT who has a LSU offer though.

  16. Are you really claiming that Bo inherited more offensive talent than he has now? I would have to strongly disagree.
  17. Wow. Just wow. There's some brilliant minds over there.
  18. Yeah even Rex dropped that pass that could have been a TD and made it a really close game. I think I only remember him dropping 1 other pass his entire time here.
  19. Is it possible? Hell yes it is. Is it likely? No. When was the last time a team with only 3 or 4 returning starters on D and freshman or redshirt freshman making up a majority of the rest of the 2 deep on D won a national championship. I can't think of any but maybe someone else can. That being said if our defense progresses week by week and makes huge strides by the end of the year - and - we limit turnovers offensively - and- our defense creates more big plays and turnovers (even if we give up a fair amount of big plays) then I think we can hang with any one. Unless BAMA or LSU just turn out to be phenomenal this year.
  20. I hope so also but I don't see it. Too much wealth. It's not that unlikely. I really think Kenny could get to 1000 and all other players improve their stats as well simply because the pace of the offense allows for more posessions and we will be punting less this year (or thats my prediction anyway). But our number 1's impoving their stats only happens IF the Defense can't seem to stop anybody and we end up leaving our starters in all game most of the time. I hope and i'm guessing that we will blow out a lot of our weak opponents and most of our 1's production will stay about the same or even dip a little bit this year. But there are too many unknowns as far as Defense is concerned to be confident.
  21. Pretty apparent this guy is reading stat lines and hasn't watched a lot of our games. He is actually pretty dead on through most of the article but you can see he makes some big mistakes. Talk about throwing Taylor under the bus. He gives him absolutely no credit. I think he is a little off the mark here. Taylor's Accuracy from 10-20 yrds was pretty damn good last year. He hit a lot of guys in stride in that area. Over 20 he is starting to approach truth. Can't argue with the sacks or interceptions too much, although one could argue he didn't have adequate protection when most of those mistakes happened. Yeah, well you weren't paying very much attention were you. And who exactly threw to Kenny for those 50 catches for 800+ yards, oh yeah Taylor. And a lot of those throws were on the money, and past 10 yrds down the field, dildo. The only other thing that i really had problem with is that he, like most other writers, tend to forget that we lost Baker at the end of the season, and Thad Randyll would have been the starter over Cam if his knee wasn't so banged up.
