  1. He rolled his ankle in fall camp and tweeked it again against Idaho St IIRC. As we say with Martinez, sometimes rolled ankles end up sticking with players for longer than they expect. Hopefully he was still feeling it/not confident enough to play to his full strength.
  2. The fact that Bo has run a completely clean program with the only sanctions coming from players receiving optional class books. The fact that he's doing great with graduating players is also a plus. The team/program just needs to clean up these types of games. Make sure there's no blowouts. But I'm fine with competing for conference championships every year (and we have in every year since Pelini's been here). As long as we're hitting 8 or 9 wins every year, no matter how they come.
  3. That's not helmet to helmet, his face is across the chest of the defender. After he hits him the guys head snaps forward, but there was absolutely no initial helmet to helmet contact. I think the call was partially made for how the guy landed and the fact that he didn't get right up.
  4. Boldin did a block like this on the 4th and 29 conversion. Didn't get flagged, don't think he's been fined either.
  5. Nicely put. There definitely needs to be some sort of reassessment in the program. But this graduating class, while having a lot of heart, was put together really quick after Bo was hired. It's probably was his worst class. The last few recruiting classes have some really exciting pieces. The LBs from last years class looks like they have a lot of potential, the d-line class too. It's cliche but I am looking forward to next year. The schedule lightens up, we lose very little of a pretty good-great offense, and the defense has very interesting pieces. We don't leave Lincoln until Oct. 12th. It hurts right now, but things can be worse.
  6. It's possible that the team is just mentally and physically exhausted from the last 6 weeks. We had a rough and trying last half of the schedule. Of course this is absolutely pathetic. I don't know what we can do to turn it around tonight, but let's see what happens.
  7. I expect him to be a husker once his grades etc are all lined up, heard that is what may be slowing down the public verbal. I don't know if you would call him a silent but given the choice of Nebraska or SDSU it is rather easy Dont know about that. South Dakota State University gave the skers a pretty game a few years back and likely again next year.... San Diego State
  8. If we have turnovers, make certain they don't lead to points. That killed us in the first game. They got 14 points gifted to them with drives of less than 30 yards. Bottom line, if we can play a clean game we'll win by 10. If we shoot ourselves in the foot like we have, then it's a toss up.
  9. He's come up huge for us in 2 games (forcing the fumble against Wisky and the interception to end the game today). And really outside of UCLA he hasn't had a terrible game (maybe OSU, but there wasn't anyone who had a good game). Watching his interception today, it looked like he was a DB with how he flipped his hips and jumped the route. I don't think he's capable of making that play earlier in the year. Props to another senior LB who finally gets it and plays a great final year.
  10. He's not eligible, too many games played. But at this point you start Abdullah, and play Rex as often as possible.
  11. I see a lot of losses to Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a whole other beast than Iowa. Then the Colorado losses happened with probably the best game planned game ever (with a pretty decent Colorado team, no matter that we were ranked #1) and during one of our worst teams in the last 10 years. You can see a trend in the losses on the date, but how many of those times were we favored?
  12. No one since 1994-95 has won back to back championships. But I'm sure there are a great number of programs that have a back to back championship on their record.
  13. You sure that 2010 had the best offense? This year has definitely been the best offense in Pelini's tenure. Definitely better than 2008 who was in the Big XII at the time and facing less competent defenses. This is the first year where we've had this kind of explosiveness on offense for a long time. It seems like every single one of our skill position guys can take it to the house anytime they touch it. The 2010 offense had way too much boom or bust. They were great when they were going, but when they weren't it was absolutely dreadful, almost to 2009 levels.
  14. It looks like he's coming here. ASU's up and down, and they don't have a defensive coach that we do. Houston's not doing as good since Sumlin left. TCU's in position for him, but if he has some academic issues our academic support team is one of the nations best. I'd love to see him come back on board.
  15. Chatelain came up with an interesting question/poll which will probably feature in his Mad Chatter tomorrow. Simple question: Rate Pelini's teams Right now I would rate them 2009, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2011. The 2011 offense was trying to find it's way, and really only had 1 consistent option you could count on. The defense took a big step back from 2010. 2008 had a lot of offense, but the defense just wasn't there until the end of the year. 2010 the offense was boom or bust, and after the non-conference schedule it busted more often. The defense was still there, but without Suh they weren't completely dominant everywhere. 2012 is probably the best combination of offense and defense since Pelini's been here. The offense is better than in 2008 with a lot of playmakers all over, and while the defense isn't as good as 2009 or 2010, they are really coming along. 2009 is #1 just based on how dominant the defense was. With Suh in the middle, and DBs that flew all over the place. The only thing that really makes it a discussion was because the offense was so poor. Any life out of the offense and the team wins the Big XII and goes to a BCS bowl.
  16. Showed some wheels too in out running Luck, who had a pretty good angle. So has Dennard been starting for the Pats? I know Talib is going to be their #1 CB, but has anyone else really impressed? Also think about that 2010 secondary. Gomes was starting (not following the Redskins enough), Amukamara has started, Hagg has started, and now Dennard is being very productive at New England.
  17. Against OSU, after the long Miller run things snowballed. The defensive players started trying to do other peoples jobs along with their own, and we started getting gashed. As a result the offense starting pushing harder which resulted in turnovers and penalties. We played Miller as good as you can play him in the 1st quarter, things just got away from us the rest of the game.
  18. As long as it's not SEC vs SEC again, I don't really give a crap. I think USC is on a downward spiral right now, and there's a possibility that Barkley won't play. One thing that Notre Dame has had throughout the year is a pretty good defense. At this point I don't care if Notre Dame gets into the championship as long as we don't have a repeat of last year.
  19. And that is 5 straight weeks with a new entry. Good job blackshirts.
  20. Positive is that now Stanford controls their own destiny. If they win against UCLA next week, they go to the Pac 12 championship and if we win the B1G we don't have to worry about Oregon. I definitely like our chances against Stanford or UCLA over Oregon. Still don't think there was enough evidence on the 2nd Stanford TD to overturn the decision on the field.
  21. Don't think on the reviewed play there was enough evidence that he had control of the ball before he was out of bounds. Think it was bad call by the replay official.
  22. Good write up Knapp, except it was Courtney Osborne who caused the non fumble against Missouri. 2010 was a good year for him, unfortunately it seems like he hasn't been able to keep healthy since then.
