  1. My recollection is usually we hear on Sunday night or Monday. They're still getting time with coaches and traveling today I think.
  2. The thing is, we're getting inter-rater reliability and being told to be cautious by the OC. It's not just talk out of Nebraska that Lee can be the real deal. It's coming from scouts and outsiders. Now, it's possible that he's just a workout warrior. There are tons of guys that look good in workouts and can't turn it into anything on the field. However, it's a sign of confidence that he was voted a captain by his peers. I absolutely question what he can do in game situations in front of 90k people. We all should. I also think we can be cautiously optimistic. Which brings be to the second comment I made to start this post. The staff knows the hype is getting big. We do need to pump the brakes. Even if Lee is as great as he's said to be, it's a team sport. We have no idea how all the pieces fit right now. So yes, the Lee hype might just be that. We need reasons to get excited about the team always. Your not going to ever have a season where the team and media say yeah everything sucks. We as fans need to take that in context and recognize that there's done truth and some urban legend that goes into that. With regards to this board, I think we as a culture could stand to not get stuck in being black or white about things. Lee may not be a Heisman contender. However, he might turn into a guy like Josh Allen who keeps everything moving. When we talk about him being overhyped we forget that it's possible or likely he's going to do some things really well that we're not used to seeing.
  3. Finally have internet again on devices that aren't my phone.

Good to hear. I have family in Houston and they just got evacuated yesterday. Contact with them is now spotty, but we're pretty sure they're safe. Just have to hope their house is left mostly unscathed.

If they need a place to stay and can get here, my place in Corpus is open to them. If it comes to that, send me a DM. My department is looking to mobilize for the redcross to provide needed mental health work. I'm also hoping to do some research on disaster psychology. There's so much to do to help folks out.

Thank you, that's awesome. They have options through work, and there are families around on higher ground (what there is of it in Houston), so they should be OK. They're biggest problem will be property loss.

  4. No, but it surprises me that it's by such a large amount that they would be willing to burn a redshirt. It sounds like they're not taking a QB this year. That increases the value of a Gebbia RS IMO. Having Gebbia at #3 means to me that there's so little dropoff that they feel they can meet team goals if our first two go down. For me, the only reason you burn that redshirt is if it's A. saving jobs or B. leading to a division championship.
  5. I find the Gebbia comment very interesting. He must be better in order of magnitudes than Andrew Bunch.
  6. I agree. I think they're going to try to do everything they can to have all the tricks in the bag for Oregon. I expect this to be another try out for RB. If there's any plays they're still trying to nail the timing on, I'm sure they'll run it over and over as well. I don't think there's anything fancy in store, but hopefully they don't get complacent. I somewhat wonder if they'll use too much of the 3-4.
  7. He's coming off an injury. They may be just giving him time to recover but indicating he can play if needed due to lack of depth. Edit: Ignore me, I was looking at the wrong Williams. Yes that is surprising.
  8. Evacuated to Austin. Little stressed out about the financial consequences of Harvey.

  9. Great start to the semester. Campus is being evacuated due to a hurricane in the days before starting the school year.

Yeah, it's not supposed to really hit until Friday I think. The predictions keep changing about how bad Southern Texas is supposed to be hit. Right now it's just the university that's going to be evacuated. We'll see if they move it up to the city. It sucks though because having only lived here for 2 weeks I haven't really had time to think about an emergency kit or anything.

      Good luck.

  10. I removed a personal attack post. Keep it about the topic yall.
  11. I went full koolaid. I think Oregon won't be as good as people think. I think we sneak out a win against Wisconsin. Losses to Penn St and tOSU.
  12. 10-2 could work for us if we beat them and Michigan beats them. If we manage to limit our conference losses to tOSU and Penn St, could be a good season. I think my look is optimistic, but not unrealistic. There's no reason to think we couldn't pull off wins against everyone else.

Ask your question, zoo. Worst than can happen is we don't know the answer.

G/F and I are talking engagement. Wanted lab grown diamond (ethical, both like science). They seem to be as expensive as mined diamonds now. Found another lab grown product that I'm interested in (Nexus Diamond) but hard to figure out what info is legit vs industry stuff. Wanted to hear someones thoughts on pros/cons. I know that the lab grown won't retain value, but we're not gonna sell it so I don't care. Would love to hear others experiences.

Congrats, Zoo. What was the funding mechanism?

Can't quite go into details yet, but it was through one of the APA divisions. Nothing major, but it's the first money I've brought in. It certainly won't hurt moving forward.

  18. I mean to be fair, he might want to make sure he can get to 50 before complaining about 51 votes.
  19. Just offered an associate editor position at the Journal that accepted my manuscript a few weeks ago.

  20. Why do you believe it will? Yeah, I would like to know your reasoning on that also. From all accounts the O-line was looking very servicable in fall camp last year and then Foster went down a week and half before the season starts. So they move a transfer walk on senior in Hahn to play guard, when he had been playing tackle all fall camp. The season starts and the O-line is actually playing OK. It is not a completely dominant line, but is holding its own against most opponents. Then the injuries start. Nothing major, just cronic ankle sprains. Knevel gets hit, Gates, Farmer, Knevel misses 5-6 games in that time, Farmer misses a couple of games, Gates doesn't miss a start but is not well the whole rest of the year. At one point in a game I believe the line starts 3 former walk ons, Conrad, Hahn and the center. Foster somehow manages to get back for the last couple of games of the season. All this shuffling and they still won 9. I think you have to understand how much shuffling that went on last year due to injuries, before you really can judge things. Offensive line play is the unit that is most dependent on playing together. They need to develop as a unit. This is acually more important in the run game than pass game. I am not comparing these guys at all, but part of the reason why the 94 and 95 lines were so great is that they stayed pretty healthy all year. They started the same guys all year. It is so important. With that said the offensive line does need to get better. If they stay healthy I think they will. They brought in a very talented class in 2016. They rolled the dice and RS all of them, they probably could have used a couple of them last year, but now they still have that year. It is on Cav to make this unit better, I don't think you or I have to tell him that. He knows what is at stake. Also of note is at the end of the season or qb had a fully torn hamstring. That's going to impact how the line looks.
  21. That's not what the article says at all. The quotes are that Tanner Lee is a good fit. Says that when osu had a good fit at qb the production went up. The NFL quality thing isn't mentioned anywhere.
  22. Can someone help? I need help figuring out how to evenly distribute things. I have 72 objects each with 6 of 27 boxes checked. I need to split those into 2 groups that are equal across all 27 boxes (should be 8 in each).

      RedDenver

Well, 72 choose 36 = 4.4e20, so you're not going to find it randomly or by brute force.

    3. RedDenver

      RedDenver

Actually, if the checkboxes must be evenly divided into 8 in each set, then the maximum number of possible combinations is 27 times 16 choose 8 = 347490. You could find that by brute force on a computer.

Couldn't you just write some rules and that would enter the values into another sheet under the categories you need? It's probably more labor intensive than you would like, but that's all I can think of. I know jist enough to be dangerous in excel, so there is probably a better way...

  23. I'm allergic to corn and a ton of pollen. My first job was at 14 working at a rec center.
  24. Also worth noting this is for 2brs at market value.
