  1. Aside from kick-off's, Henery did that last year and did just fine People always say that. But it seems like playing LB for one series would be a LOT harder on a guy than handling all the kicking/punting duties for the whole game. Just sayin... Go out and kick 30 field goals today and see how your leg feels tomorrow. Kickoff duty alone for a good offense is a big job.
  2. Giving up 7 points all game isn't a big deal. Unless you only scored 6 or less.
  3. "I wouldn't say I am a starter...but when I get on the field I am going to make plays." That is the attitude we need. This kid has his act together. He knows his place and what he is suppose to do for the team.
  4. My thoughts were that only one of the three newcomers at hb would not red shirt. I guess I have thoughts like Bo and most coaches on these kinds of things.
  5. WTF McElroy? Anybody see that? Last play was funny!!!
  6. We lost to them once last year. Bo shall not underestimate them.
  7. Big 12 (12-0) < B1G, SEC, & PAC-12 (13-0) Big 12 (11-1) < B1G, SEC, & PAC-12 (12-1)...and so on That is how it works now.
  8. If we are in the BCS, I don't care who we play. We did our job getting there.
  9. Flukes happen in one game. This is suppose to simulate the game 101 times. That means the team that should win comes out on top most of the time getting rid of the fluke game and stating in "in general we think ****** will win." The simulation provides flukes in both directions and equals out to who had a better team throughout the year. That being said, you should see almost exact outcomes to what you saw for overall records in reality other than a shift in scheduling. 5-3 shows this is a worthless simulating device or human. DONE.
  10. I answer that by saying...Remember when third string quarterback Rex Burkhead played?
  11. He was sitting with the RBs at Fan Day. When did he switch back to WR? I was reading something that said he did after the spring game. I'm not finding ANYTHING updated about him though using my google-foo. So, can anyone comment on this that is closer to Lincoln? I don't get to see much out here in NC... HI preseason magazine had him as a HB FYI.
  12. If someone steps up behind BK we can have a middle of the pack WR core. Our TE's are the best. Done.
  13. I don't care about where some hawkeye is ranked. Dennard has some things to work on. He seems to be less polished than Prince was headed into his senior year. Dennard has all the chances in the world to be a premier guy, but he has to show up every game against the best on the other team. Crick, David, Dennard is the order. They are all impressive players, but that is the order of things imho.
  14. Why are we talking about Iowa? I want to talk about Wisconsin, the Ohio State, and Michigan State (good teams.)
  15. i am not worried...we will have no mire or less injuries due to this thread
  16. I think you are looking for "meh." Which reminds me. Meh.
  17. I miss Grant Mulkey. I know he is from the time which we must not mention, but the dude was an animal. I remember him going across the middle for a pass, catching it and getting lit up. He got a concussion or some type of injury and still held on to the ball. BEAST! (Yeah I know he wouldn't be top 10 and he got dismissed from the team.)
  18. 1. Rex is who we thought he was. 2. Our defense is a man (but not 40). 3. Playoffs?!?! No. Rose Bowl? Yes. 1. We couldn't do diddly poo on offense and we couldn't complete a pass. 2. In the words of Kieth Jackson, "FUMBLE!" 3. You play to win the game. Nebraska won't for every game.
  19. I'm not trying to pick on you here, but I get kind of tired of this attitude. If we wore black uniforms for ONE game, would it really be such a big deal? I don't think anyone wants to change tradition, but it's fun to switch things up now and then for a brief moment. The whole, "This is how we have always done things, this is how we will always do things, and that's that" attitude wears me down. But then again, maybe I'm not a real fan. Yeah, it would be a pretty big deal. Black is not a school color, I don't know why we would wear it. Teams wearing black for the hell of it is getting old. Lets not put ourselves in the same boat with these disasters: And that doesn't even include VT's Pro Combat Black...god forbid that ever happen here. I look at these uniforms and all I can think of is how much I like them all (except Tennessee. Those are OK.) We have a tradition of giving out black shirts for our starting d-fence. This would be one way to get that fact more attention (don't know how many people outside our fan base who really know about the black shirts.)
  20. Reasons the North Sucks isn't true: KSU: Micheal Bishop (97-98); Ell Roberson and Darren Sproles (03-04) CU: Chris Brown and Daniel Graham (01) KU: Reesing and Co. (07) National title contender? Not really, but very good. ISU: Seneca Wallace (01-02) Remember them in the top 10 at one point? Troy Davis got 2nd in the heisman in 96. MU: Brad Smith (even though his teams sucked); Chase Daniel and a whole lot of receivers that rocked (07-08); Gabbert and more receivers (10) NU: (97-01) The North held a lot in the beginning. Don't forget the North has had all 6 teams show something special at a given time.
  21. Against the softest defense in Nebraska football history.... Yeah not impressed. That defense was pathetic. Watching this video, and watching Courtney Grixby even participate on a D1 football field is just ridiculous. If Beck couldn't produce against a Cosgrove defense, he wouldn't have gotten hired in the first place. Lets see what he can do against some good teams. One thing I can immediately tell from this film... Taylor Martinez DOES NOT have the arm Todd Reising did. He can't put the ball where Todd put it for his receivers. He can't make a lot of those throws like Todd did. I think that's what hurts us most with him. Teams know this... they know he can run, they know Burkhead can run, they know BK can catch, but Taylor doesn't place the ball in ideal places for his receivers. You watch every touch down pass we had last year and all looked awkward... Kyler Reed having to stop and wait for the ball a bit to catch it. BK catching the ball at his knees. Niles Paul having to adjust his speed significantly for a ball that should have been caught out front of him in full stride. He just looks awkward when he throws and throws balls in hard places for receivers to catch. And on BECK... Our offense can't be much worse than it was the past 2 seasons. Our defense is going to be just as good if not better. So I'm not too worried. The fumble problems we had the past two years can't get much worse. The lack of passing attack we had last year can't get any worse. "Opposing our will on our opponents" meaning we do what we want no matter where their defense lines up is gone (thank heavens). Beck already has done a few things that are going to prove pivotal. 1. We now look at the defense and go where they are weak. Watson used to say who cares if they have 7 in the box, we're still going with the running play we called 2 minutes ago. Beck says "Taylor, audible it. See what the defense is doing and go where they are weak, where they have a mismatch." 2. Receivers don't run to a spot and wait for the ball. Receivers now look at who's guarding them, evaluate which moves work best, and then use those moves to pick one of 3 or 4 routes available to them that will be hardest for that defender to get to. 3. Taylor is now lining up primarily in the shot gun. He's going to see the field well and direct back there. He can change things if needed. 4. Offensive Line and Running Backs have a 3 deep of depth. This is going to enable us to stay more fresh, play physical etc. We had a lot of injury concerns the past 2 years on the offensive line resulting to very very thin spots. Now if someone get's hurt put #2 or #3 in and it's similar talent. 5. Watson used paragraphs to call plays. Now, Taylor can say the play in a sentence. This speeds up the tempo so defenses can't get set as well and get their breath. This makes for less chance of mishearing a play call and thus confusion amongst players. This leads to smaller learning curves for young players and hopefully, faster time on the field. etc. We've heard reports out of summer practice that the offensive line looks great. Some of those freshmen are indeed coming up behind Burkhead. Taylor has his legs back. Kenny Bell and Jamal Turner are lightning fast receivers. Team bonding is the best it's been since the 90's. Brandon Kinnie and several others have stepped up to lead big time. The defense is the deepest and smoothest it's been since Pelini has been here. Nothing to worry about. 1. I thought Watson was the one who said we shouldn't run at teams who stack the box and would audible to what the defense gave us. 2. Routes will still be called in huddle. There will be an opportunity for the receiver and quarterback to go with what they both see when the defense presents itself. 3. I thought we need to move to more under center run right at teams. I think it would have helped our o-line's confidence. I thought too many times last year we had too much play development and not enough explode off the ball and just driving your guy to Canada. 4. We have nothing proven about our depth at RB. We have loads of talent to compete, but no locks outside of Rex.
