I'm man enough to admit it!

Man enough? To admit that you didn't think Joe was good?

Yeah, it takes a REAL man to say that he underestimated someone who played well in a game.

What? ....

It's just a figure of speech! Relax, I'm actually just giving Joe props. I honestly didn't think he was good enough to be anything more than a serviceable back-up and if I thought it was a fluke I wouldn't have posted anything, but he's had two pretty damn impressive games in his first two collegiate starts. If nothing else it's a good reason to be excited about next year!

Keller is a better NFL type QB, he has a better arm, taller, little better accuracy. Ganz on the other hand is probably a better college QB, he is probably smarter but still willing to take risk, tougher, more athletic. Callahan is an NFL guy and he is willing to admit this, so it is no wonder Callahan went with the NFL type QB.

The same thing happened a few years ago at Texas with Major Applewhite and Chris Simms. According to NFL standars Simms was a far better prospect, but Applewhite just knew how to win and was a better QB in college. Mack Brown went witht he NFL kid in that situation also.

Having said that, it is truly amazing what Ganz is doing with the offense right now.

You nailed it

He's the Landlord and wants us all moved out by the end of the month... "Get over yourselves!"

But I agree with ya, T. I didn't think he had what it takes.

To quote hack, "Nobody holds a clipboard like Joe Ganz!"

I don't think Keller will be playing on Sundays. He'll get a look but I don't think he has what it takes for the NFL.

I agree. Keller may look like a NFL QB, but I seriously doubt he will make it. He is a good kid with a lot of heart, but I really didn't see the "big time" arm people were talking about. I guess time will tell.

I'm another one who didn't think Ganz was up to the job. I have to admit my mistake now though. He sure torched K-State. He consistently made plays. His game is summed up by that last TD before halftime. He kept the play alive and made a great throw on the move. Excellent player. Good for him.

yeah, well with cally coaching who would have known? hell, we might not have known anything about the kid until next year! you just got to ask yourself how cally evaluates and uses talent, good recruiter, but i still say he can't coach or develop kids worth a damn on the college level...i know, this is all old news.

First it was supposed to be Beck then Freeman and finally Keller. I never thought Ganz would ever see much playing time if any. He was never talked about much by Callahan. It was nice to see him get his chance. I wonder what it would have been like though, if he was put in early in the year and had to keep looking over his shoulder to see if Callahan was waiting for him to mess up, and Keller ready to step back in. You know what I mean. He couldn't have had a better scenario to get his chance. Nothing to lose, go for it every down, play like its your last chance, you couldn't have scripted it any better. Now we have all seen what he can do with no heat on him, next game will be the big test, I think. He brought back memories of how the Husker's used to look, moving up and down the field. I like his fire and the way he handles the team. I don't know if he will be the starter next year or not, but he sure will get a "real" chance to win it. I don't know if he was given that this year.

I wish the best for Keller, he did all he could to win and was a class act by every thing I read or heard. He was cheering just as much as everyone else on Saturday when they showed him on the side lines. To bad he got hurt, but some times things happen for a reason.

GBR!!!

I'd like to wave my magic wand and have these numbers to compare:

* The number of people who thought Keller was far and away superior to Ganz in August.

* The number of people (same or different from the above) who think Keller has no chance in the NFL.

Nobody's crystal ball works every time. We may not be able to make a success/bust conclusion on him NFL-wise for years and years because of the way he's going to start his NFL career (broken clavicle = slow start).

I remember a few years ago watching Drew "They Beat Him Till He" Bledsoe run the Patriots offense, until he got hurt and they had to bring in some unheralded backup.

Turns out Tom Brady ain't half so bad as all those people were thinking back then. Kind of like Joe Ganz today.

Maybe kind of like Sam Keller in the NFL? Who knows.

Count me as one who had no idea what Ganz had, I'd never seen him play, throw or run it was all a mystery to me. I only know there has been an avater on someones posts that said Fear the Ganz.....all along that persons conveyed the truth.

Ganz is outstanding, he deserves all credit, the emotional sparks fly with JG in the game. You had to see it.

I feel cheated not having been given the opportunity to see him until now. Seems like the staff is good at wasting talent, be they redshirts that get ripped off before there time, or players like Ganz who are riding the bench for whatever rationalization the coaches might have. Its like Purify not showing up in all games all the time....whose brain dump is behind that?

Fix it is all Ive got to say, there is talent here that needs leadership, not managment by ego.

I came away seeing Keller throwing at receivers before they made their cuts, while Joe threw as they made them or after. Knowing how crucial timing is to all the passes in the WCO, I was not impressed with Joe's timing.

That is interesting; I told my buddy that didn't get to watch the game that one of the biggest differences to me was that Ganz threw the outs long before the receiver cut. I thought on several of those third down conversions against KSU that the ball hit Purify and someone on the right boundary as soon as they turned around. Either Ganz has come a long way since the spring game, or our perceptions are totally opposite.

Best part of Ganz was on 4th & 20, he scrambles for 23 then, instead of getting out of bounds, he tries to run over a DB! No wonder everyone rallies around him. Now, that being said, I hope he has the smarts to get out of bounds if he sees a linebacker coming! He brought life back into this team. Roll through CU and hopefully get an Insight bowl so I can go to the game!
