chamrocck
Player: Emory Blake Hometown: Austin, TX Position: WR Height: 6'1" Weight: 194 lbs. 40 time: 4.6 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Tulsa, Houston, SMU Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Rivals 250 member is the son of former NFL QB Jeff Blake. ESPN Evaluation: There is so much to like about Blake at the wide receiver position and he is a very polished football player. The only problem is that he does not run very well. Aside from that, he has the qualities you wish you saw in some players who are faster than he is. Possesses good size, has the leaping ability to challenge for the ball while it's in the air and will win some jump balls. Has the body control to adjust to the ball while it's in the air, shows good sideline awareness and can make some acrobatic catches. Is a sharp route runner-- knows he has to outwork opponent to gain separation and he has phenomenal hands. More here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20%. He is from Austin but Texas has not offered. This could work to our advantage if he feels Texas is slow playing him or that they don't have room for him. Quote Link to comment
Danimal
Sounds like a guy that would work well in the WCO, a technically solid guy with enough athleticism to make some plays. A good complement for a burner-type. Hopefully Texas stays out of it or at-least slow-plays him. Quote Link to comment
Ohio Pete
any news?? Yeah, Scout says his top 5 are BC, Colorado, Texas Tech, Missouri, and Florida (no offer). But Rivals says he is also considering Kansas. He has visited BC and CU. TT is next. Quote Link to comment

Danimal
To the victor the spoils. TTech made a statement and is has paid dividends. Thus far we haven't made a statement. We need to finish the season strong on the field if we are going to finish strong in recruiting IMO. Quote Link to comment

BigRedMan
I heard he might visit Auburn Quote Link to comment
saniflush
Says he will not commit till signing day. Auburn had four coaches in his home last night. He will choose from TT, UC, and Auburn. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
His height and speed really shouldn't excite anyone. He's 3" shorter, 20+ pounds lighter, and the same speed as our incoming QB. Quote Link to comment

On the surface I agree with you. I was not impressed with that either. What I am told is he is a possession receiver. If you need 10 he will make the diving catch for 10.5. We need someone like this. Well... probably none of the numbers for either are accurate --- not height nor weight (likely exaggerated), and definitely the speed numbers are not accurate either. The point being that the measurables virtually never are accurate. He may be much faster than the QB, or not. Only the rivals speeds are accurate and almost no one runs under a 4.5 there and few under 4.55 (even though they may be self listed as 4.4 or even 4.3). Quote Link to comment
