Although in my opinion Herbie is actually our mascot, not Lil' Red. Lil' Red is more sideline entertainment, not a mascot.

Actually, Lil Red is the official mascot. Herbie was banished until a couple of years ago, when he was brought back only by popular demand. Like the red Fairbury Franks in the stands.

Lil Red is for the kids? Oh, come on...what is the percentage of preschool kids in the stadium? Even normal 8 year olds think he is a flamer.

Actually you are both wrong. Herbie is our old mascot, he was given a makeover a few years ago to the current "buff" version and renamed Harry Husker. Harry Husker is the official mascot. Lil' Red is a secondary mascot intended for kids.

um... you realize that mascot's do more than go to football games, correct? and if you have never been to a different sporting event, you should really go and see the interaction that there is between Lil' Red and kids....

another example for those that don't buy it... if you live in lincoln, look at the transformation of Homer, the Saltdogs mascot this past year! he went from this scary tough lookin dog, to a soft, friendly version.. KID FRIENDLY. IMO mascots are for kids. I couldn't care less what a mascot looks like.. it doesn't change our team. It's an easy way for kids to associate with a team.

_

and on a side note... Lil' Red doesn't even COMPARE in creepiness to Texas Tech's mascot.... <_<
